I was sure Gotze was coming – until we missed out on a CL place!
I’m not sure that Klopp made the right selections in our PL run-in as we should have made top 4 without the EL chase / obsession ( but it was a great ride!).

    SO WHO NOW??

We need at least one top quality signing – I mean £25M+ – and not neccessarily £50M.
At the moment I see Benteke staying.

Not the Porto guy though – we need a player like Sane or Mane perhaps. A new Suarez or a top striker from a Euro 2016 team perhaps the :
    Pole at Ajax?
    Nolito ?
    Adruiz?
    Who else could come good?
I’ve seen Dzeko linked so could he do a job??

We don’t need a marquee signing in my view. The demand for marquee signings had forced the club into a few mistakes in recent years.

Though apparently Draxler is deciding his future after the Euros with Germany. Maybe the Klopp factor could give us an edge. He’s twice the player Gotze is.

If Marquee signing means expensive or big money signings, I d’rather we spend the money on proven players from La Liga or Bundesliga. For example, Reus, Aubameyang or Suarez (a man can dream). Please spend for the sake of it. Eg, Brahimi or some other big teams’proven flops like Lucas Mora.

If those famous players like Reus refused to join us, just try to sign more potential youngsters. I want to see the unearthing hidden gems ability of Klopp.

We need talent, which doesn’t necessarily mean Marquee. Leicester have already proved that. Problem is the big teams sometimes get lazy and spend big on Marquee players whilst the EPL upstarts are using their dough much more wisely getting more bang for buck. If Klopp can get the right mix and it can be coached well then anything is possible next season. The fastest and most skillful players don’t always cost $20m+… but some big clubs are (sometimes) pressured into Marquee buys because of sponsor and fan pressure. I would rather see carefully considered purchases than panic or empty glamour buys. I think we’re gonna have a good summer, Klopp will never have had as big a transfer war chest as he will this summer. He will be excited to overhaul this team as much as we are. I think we are going to enter a few years where the quality of the manager is not important than the players in the squad and I’m glad we got Klopp on board for that ride.

Granit Xhaka has confirmed that he chose Arsenal despite sitting down and speaking to Klopp. Yet another player to add to the list. On the bright side,a £4m bid for Ben Chilwell will be made in the near future, according to reports. Another young kid, what a surprise

Marquee signings signal a statement of intent, just like the effect Klopp had on the PL when we signed him on. It makes our rivals stand up and take notice. What’s more, they make other players take notice. They would think that we mean business and can match their ambition. Not only are they better for the club off the pitch, but on the pitch, they would have already shown they can operate at a higher level that what anyone else in the same team can offer. Honestly, as a player who wants to play at the top level, would you rather line up in a side with the likes of Lallana, Moreno and Mignolet or a side with Ronaldo, Reus or Messi? Given the money we reportedly have to spend I’d break the bank and do everything possible to get Reus and Gundogan. 2 players we could desperately use, know the manager and are proven world class players. There are too many players in our squad who can be easily replaced by “better” alternatives. Enough shoppping in the so called “2nd tier”. If we want to be at the top we have to compete at the top on and off the pitch and marquee signings will help us do that.

I hate it when fans start demanding marquee signings. Has the success at Leicester not taught you anything? And lets face it our recent history in buying big, Benteke, Carroll etc hasn’t exact been successful has it? I want players that have been thoroughly scouted by knowledgeable scouts that the manager wants and knows hows to implement them into his system. Don’t care if they cost less than 10m.

That 45 million on a winger really is from one extreme to another. Please please not let that happen.

Razor – Enough of shopping in the second tier? Every team in England shops in the second tier, the top tier is Messi, Suarez, Neymar, Ronaldo, Bale, Lewandowski, etc, Even players like Aguero was not in the top tier when City bought him. With the new tv money and the quality managers we now have we might get to see some top tier players in the Prem but so far as soon as they have become top tier they have left the Prem for Spain.

threeps: Benteke, etc., were bought by the current Celtic manager, say no more. Leicester was a huge fluke based on several factors and probably won’t happen again for 30years or more. If Klopp can’t use big money well he shouldn’t be in the job but you can guarantee he would love to have huge funds at his disposal. Sadly FSG have one transfer policy which is so stupid and such a huge failure it’s laughable, yet they are not going to ever change due to their arrogance, ignorance and greed. We are fighting for top 4 next season and maybe an FA or league cup. I don’t care how good Klopp MIGHT be no manager even Fergie would have a chance of the big silverware with Moneyball transfers. Which team in Europe has been successful with this policy? Who else would be as stupid to stick with it for so long?

Lets stop apologising for these awful people and stand up to them. Its the only way we are going to win anything. 5 years one minor trophy won on penalties against a Championship side! Enough said!

I hate the window, its so stupid and its so pointless seeing fans getting riled up by the frenzy… All logic departs when big sums of money are mentioned.

Take Brahimi for example, he got 7 goals in the league in Portugal and is worth 45 million. While our very own Alberto scored 6 goals in La Liga but we would be lucky to get 4.5 million for him.

Albeit Brahimi has a bit more experience and did really well in the Champions League this season but is that worth 40 million more than Alberto? 99% of the fans talking about Brahimi have not seen him play, thats the best part.

Brahimi seems a good prospect, but that’s the sort of money Chelsea and City would throw yet even with that risk, they wouldn’t feel it as such if the move didn’t work out as they would just get hold of another 45 million player.

We on the other hand as a club don’t really have that luxury.

I would say, lower it down into the 30 bracket and we can offload a couple of ours as part of a ‘part-exchange’ should Porto agree.
