Just a month since he’s left wenger to join st.etienne,he’s kept all clean sheets bar one game, scored two goals and beaten neymar to Ligue one player of the month. How in the world is this possibleA player who hasn’t been given enough oppurunites and misused by wenger.it’s glaringly obvious that bellerin has had a pathetic season because he’s not had any competetion for that place, yet debuchy should have been played ahead of him many a time.

Apart from the fact how all other players left Arsenal espescially in the past few seasons have flourished at other clubs under different, better managers. It begs the question why wenger isn’t being sacked right away.shouldn’t we bring in another manager asap so that even the player performances improve.Wenger has been a great servant but he simply isn’t cut out for management anymore.
    The board!!!!!!!Do something.

TSO do you personally think he was good enough to get another contract and a mistake to let him go? I don’t and I don’t think most fans would. I like him as a player but his injury record and age made it a no brainer. He is definitely not a long term solution. This is a poor example to use against Wenger, he has made mistakes but this was not one of them.

stev – Yes mate,I do think it was a mistake to let him. It’s not about injury record and age, because I’m not making a case for him to be given a contract exension.I’m saying how much he’s imporved playing under a different manager at a different club.
If he’s already playing so well fo st.etienne, then surely he should still have been kept atleast until the end of the season to give bellerin competetion.he was not even injured a lot this season, and he’s given some good perofmrances.Anyways, this post is more about how much a player has imporved under a different manager in no time,How can it be a poor example to use against wenger.I’m making very valid points here.

I think we would have kept him if he did not get this offer and want to go but I don’t think it was worth stopping him leaving, just for competition for a few months. He actually was playing well for us in the last few games he played. He was a good player when fit and I don’t think he has gone to France and got any better.

Stev,I haven’t watched him play even one game for st.etienne.But do i really need to in order to praise him.I think the facts, that i pointed out speak for themselves. He’s been nominated ligue 1 player of the month. That’s enough to point out his improved performances.i agree with you he’s not the long term solution but
it still proves how much he’s improved under a different manager which again begs the question why we haven’t bought in a different manager till now.Wenger will always have a legacy no matter what state he leaves the club in,but why is he board not letting him go right now!!!

My main gripe here is that Wenger’s poor man management ruined Debuchy’s career. Remember how well Wenger managed the Flamini-Diarra situation? Which left us with no defensive MF the following 2008/9 season. Now I hear rumours that some teams are sniffing around Reiss-Nelson…

The issue with Debuchy is not about him leaving, the issue is about why he was bought. He cost £12million and was a disaster, contributed nothing, was well paid and was given away for nothing in order to get rid of him. What Debuchy has done in the very weak French League playing for a side that would struggle in the Championship is meaningless. After all look at Lacazette, another brilliant success there.

Oracle: Debuchy was a French international at the time he was bought. He was no useless lump… It was an unfortunate injury against Stoke, when he was pushed by Arnatovic (?) that led to him losing his place to Bellerin. 12MM at the time for an established international was not overly expensive. I do agree that Lacazette is not pulling trees at the moment, and would not be one bit sad or surprised to him leave.

ahmad1973, you called him a useless lump, not me. He was a French international, so what. So was Squillaci, so was Flamini. He was once a good player but those days were long gone, why do you think Newcastle were happy to let him leave. He was never first choice at Arsenal, Bellerin was already established in that position, we also had Jenkinson, Chambers and Coquelin who could all play right back so why buy a player who was injury prone, injured when we paid £12million for him, total madness. Why do you think we gave him away for nothing in the end. He was a poor unnecessary signing like so many others this clown has made in the past 5 years.

Hey listen, whatever youre guys opinions about debuchy are of whether or not he was good enough to play for Arsenal, you can’t ignore the fact that he was made to look average here and at st ettiene he’s already Ligue 1 player of the month. That might be a poor league, but to win that award you can’t be average.I respect what wenger had done but why is this board not getting in another manger asap.I’d even take Rodgers until the end of the season!!

Oracle: Check your facts again. Debuchy was bought to fill in for Sagna. He had played most of the games for France in the 2014 WC when we got him. BTW I said he was “no” useless lump. His injury against Stoke is what propelled Bellerin.
TSO: Agree with you that it is no mean achievement. There are players like Neymar, Cavani, Veratti etc… just to name a few.

Ahamd, Debuchy wasnt fit when he came. He was actually sent off in a CL play off game and his injury came against Man City very early in the season. He may have been bought at the same time Sagna left but he was never fit enough to be first choice, how he passed a medical I dont know. He made 13PL appearances in 4 years and we gave him away for nothing. You may consider that a good buy I call it a waste of 312million
