Silly or realistic? Mbappe valued at £100 million? I must admit he certainly has the potential but the media coverage surrounding his transfer value is just ludicrous.

Silly. No matter which club he ends up at. At least Pogba had 4 full seasons under his belt.
What’s worse though is the reported 70 million for van Dijk – that kind of money should be bringing in two quality CB’s

Dele done more in his first season and yet wouldn’t be considered a 100 player, just potential. Money for young striker, who had an decent return (but not exactly spellbinding) with poetical is obsurd.

The lad looks a great player but he’s 18 and imo it would be very dangerous for anyone to spend £100m plus on an 18 year old he needs another couple of seasons at Monaco imo.

Real can take the risk. No way would I want Liverpool spunking that amount on potential because that’s all he is at the mo.

Mbappe is 18 years old and looks to be Henry’s heir in terms of the amount of goals he’ll score and create. If he manages to meet his potential he’ll be worth it because he will give any club he plays for a good 15 years of football. If they go on to sell him in future, even if he doesn’t meet his full potential but still ends up a very good player, he’s still going to be worth 80m+ given how prices keep increasing year on year.

Rio Ferdinand was seen as a crazy buy by United when we signed him for 30m back in a day when nobody paid that amount however it ended up being extremely worth it, both because we got a world class defender for a decade but also because 30m is peanuts in the grand scheme of things (though it was a large amount at the time).

One just needs to realize that money in football has lost it’s value – when a Championship team can ask for more for one player than other clubs at their level are worth in total, you know that all sense of scale has gone overboard.

I think with some ‘wonderkids’ its a gamble but with Mbappe he seems certain to be a star so £100m for a player who you may get 15 years out of at the highest level would be a bargain at the end of his career.

If he doesn’t go to Real any he club he does sign for will simply be a via point to eventually ending up at the Bernabeu.
