He will come good, he reminds me of Cristiano when he first came to us. Very frustrating but man can he dazzle at times. I pray he stays with us and gets some time under another manager with some actual man management skills. SAF would have this kid playing great stuff because he knew how to handle egotistical/confidence players.

We all hope you are right mate,he will certainly have to hit the ground running next season if Mourinho does take over.He has plenty of ‘previous’ for falling out with and ditching wingers who he see’s as luxury players when they don’t pull their weight for the team.

He reminds me of Nani. Unbelievably talented but does he have the will to go on and reach his potential? I’d give him next season to prove himself. If he hasn’t progressed by then then we need to try another talented young player.

his style of play involves also losing the ball which i dont think lvg is a big fan of. His playstyle is bin restricted imo. Here’s to hoping he comes good next season. Maybe he should start by changing the name on his jersey to DEPAY!!

He was fantastic at PSV and he had to fight to get in to the first team, once he won over the coach, he was in. He can do that here but he needs a different coach. LVG is still trying to adapt to the EPL and failing dismally and his man management is very much to be desired. If Memphis can string a run together I will lay odds on him becoming a very talented player but a different coach is necessary. He has been stifled since coming to OT, he needs the freedom he had at PSV and the knowledge that he can lose the ball as long as he gets his arse back after the ball. I think the fans will be forgiving as long as he produces some more of his magic. He has got it, he just needs the coach to instil his self belief again.

On one hand I agree with all of the above, Memphis is clearly a very talented player with bags of potential who, with a different manager could become a massively important and influential player for us.

On the other hand however, I can’t help thinking that regardless of his age and ability he is being paid a hell of a lot of money to do what most of us only dream of and that he and the other wasters should suck it up and give 100% regardless of LVG’s managerial style, or lack thereof!

Wasn’t he a regular in the national team when LVG was in charge? So what’s changed between them?

@mmi, I believe LVG’s attempt to adapt the EPL to his style of play has been the biggest problem instead of adapting to the EPL. Dutch football has been based on possession for years now and LVG has tried to bring that here. In every national squad, there was always at least one player who was given the freedom to do something unexpected, (Memphis for one example) and if they lost the ball it was forgiven as long as they didn’t concede. That was ok in he national squad and throughout the Eredivise but the EPL does not allow for that kind of game and mistakes are dealt with swiftly and severely. Memphis has come thinking he is outstanding and no-one can get near him and he has been given a rude awakening, so has Van Gaal. Van Gaal has never been able to handle the Prem and that is why I think Memphis has been failing. A different coach could bring the best out of him, I feel.

I agree that Memphis looks like a very talented lad and we’ve seen some pretty good glimpses of that. The problem for me is that when he does something stupid, which happens a lot, he doesn’t seem like he really cares at all! In fact he looks like he doesn’t give a f@@k! Remember when he lost the ball and Rooney ran back faster than him?! Us fans want fairly basic things from our players; commitment, passion, energy. If you’re having a bad day or even if you’re not that good you can still be loved by the fans by showing the above 3 attributes. If Memphis went mental running around like Tevez did, every time he lost the ball, he’d be a fans favourite already. But the fact that he’s such an arrogant little p£££k means he feels he doesn’t need to track back or something? I don’t know, he boils my blood. I’m hoping he comes good and develops the right attitude to become a United player because so far he doesn’t have it for me.

How could he possibly be in the Dutch squad after his disastrous season so far?? I think he will come good eventually but he has played like a pub player for last 6 months

This gets me. When Neville talks about pub team you and people like you scream foul saying its its disloyal to suggest that. You even did it not so long ago when somebody described us a pub team. You had a go a Blacky for mocking players yet here you are calling a player a pub player. Thats yet another flip. And none of your chums say a dickie.

Mind you, where is CM. He rides into town, starts a god almighty fire then rides out of town again.

I said “I think he will come good eventually but he has played like a pub player for last 6 months”

You don’t need to translate what I meant by that to suit your bogus point. What I was saying is his performance was not Utd’s standard.

I may add “I think Hazard is a world class player but he has played like a pub player for last 6 months”

I always criticize Utd players, but unlike you and your stooge blacky, I would not conclude he’s useless. Depay is 21. He’s got the talent, just needs to find the performance level and consistency to go with it. He’ll come good.

As for CM, he has argued with you on many topics and you were disoriented and mixed-up. Tell me what is it like to argue with someone considerably smarter and intelligent than you?

I have no problem with your likening Depay to a pub player. My problem is when you kick up an almighty fuss when Scholes and TT posters do exactly the same as you have done.

Its not easy to argue with The Smart One for the simple reason, after lecturing us all on what it mean to be a fan, he seems to have buggered off. Maybe like his arguments he is lost and wandered off the beaten track.

    LMFAO

After coming back from my “spring jollys”, I do not know what I find disappointing? Mac missing me or Blacky’s stomach churning when it comes to giving player ratings after a win. You do not have a problem with Blacky disappearing when the team are on a run and miraculously reappearing with his player ratings when the team lose. But then again you are bias. BTW it was you who started lecturing us on what was a true fan and anyone with a bit of intelligence will know there is a difference between calling a team who has taken points off Liverpool, Chelsea and knocking Arsenal out of the FA Cup a pub team and saying a player performing as a pub player. But you do live in lala land and want to interpret to your own.

Anyway after several email exchanges with you, why does it bother you that I don’t post, Mac. You did admit that you had little respect for posters who did not post on this section on the old format, calling us daytrippers and told me that if anyone wants to cheer their side they should look elsewhere, good as confirming you want all things miserable on here. Before you deny that, I can always provide screenshots.

Anyway I have been on twitter lately, even attending football games, espdcially one at the Etihad recently talking football with match going fans, am I a day tripper still because I do not agree with you and your online village people cronies on here.

I will leave you to it dopey or is grumpy, maybe bashful or sleepy. Dawn I cannot make my mind up, you should ask the online village people you created on here who find calling bedwetters and trannys funny. Ironically I use to call people bedwetters when I was 10 and a whole 20 years later, I am being called it by a grown man. I guess it is true, what goes around, does come around.

Be interesting to see Depay against England in mid-week. I think he does better in Europe and internationals than he does in the PL. Bafs of talent, hopefully he’ll settle over the summer and will come back all the better next season.

I’d also give Memphis the benefit of the doubt. There’s no doubt he’s a talent. And if he’s got an attitude problem isn’t that for Van Gaal to sort out? That’s part of the Dutch pricks role isn’t it, managing, as in the players?

The kid has been completely frozen out and stripped of any confidence he had coming off an amazing season. I’d hate to be him knowing how talented I could be with some trust and faith from a manager, being on the bench and seeing championship players like Lingard start ahead of you.

Yea lingard starting is a joke. Giggs influence written all over that. Local Manchester lad in the first team always makes a good story no matter how shite he is
