I am not an expert but I have been watching football since 1977 when we lost 2-1 from Utd in FA cup final. The facts show very clearly that Lovren is not good enough for lpool. He has very poor and his progress is like a turtle…

Even I am Greek I have been an admirer of English/British football. There4 pls allow me to know a lot things esp regarding Lpool.

Everybody sees that Lovren can not play for Lpool and only U and Klopp do not see.

I supported Klopp a lot but when he makes such terrible mistakes how can I carry on believing in him??

I like a lot Pochettino who has been the best manager in PL the last 2-3 years, Pepe is very moderate and I am not Jose’s fan at all….

Red Herring, I don’t think Mourinho would have lost that game had he been Liverpool Manager and I suspect he would have got Liverpool over the line for the title.

But that’s just my opinion mate Rodgers was only capable of playing one way and ultimately that cost him his job at Liverpool.

But we’ve all been hijacked by Paxman again and none of this has any bearing to this thread and what happened in 2014 is pointless now!

Paxman, your memory of that game is very poor. Why don’t I help you jog it with this.

Just to summarise, the “clear cut chances” you refer to were hardly that. If they are clear cut chances then Cole’s shot, Kalas’ header, Matic’s shot and the penalty claim are very clear cut chances too.

Let’s also remember Chelsea fielded a team without:
    Terry
    Cech
    Hazard
    Ramirez
    Eto

because they had one eye on their Champions League tie 3 days later.

Mourinho went out with one task to complete, not lose and his side managed to limit the best attack in the league to no clear cut chances (in my view).

As for it being handed to him by the Gerrard slip, maybe, but you’re what ifs are pointless, football is full of them, what if Pearce had gone the other way, what if Beckham hadn’t kicked up his heel, what if your Aunty had a cock, she’d be your uncle

Paxman, not normally one to get involved in these type of debates but was just wondering if you were planning to apologise for your muddled brain getting the FACTS wrong? As a city fan I clearly remember arriving at Doha airport, finally getting wifi and being amazed at the scores that day (city win, Liverpool lost). That put us level on points with city having the superior goal diff.

This is not a matter of opinion (and whilst I normally disagree with yours I respect your right to such opinions), you were factually incorrect and then insulted other posters (who were actually correct).

Takes a bigger man to admit they are wrong than to keep digging into that hole my friend.

999: Our loss to Chelsea had nothing to do with BR’s tactics on that fateful day. The game had draw written over it until Gerrard’s slip.

kopite, that’s a matter of opinion mate and it’s certainly not Steven Gerrard’s opinion and apart from the slip Willian also scored.

Rodgers is renowned for only being able to play on the front foot and is on record as saying he doesn’t change his tactics so it goes much broader than just that one game v Chelsea.

But it was a long while ago much water has flowed under the bridge and we were all led down a cul de sac which has no relevance to this thread and getting to in depth on something that happened three years ago seems pretty pointless now.Cheers 999

The whole team lost the game that day. Gerrard slipped and then tried too hard to make up for it, Suarez had a very frustrating day resulting in a bite. Sturridge lazily gave the ball away for the second goal, and then we followed up with a collapse against crystal palace. For whatever reason our team wasn’t mentally strong enough to win the title that season. Maybe it was BRs fault, maybe next year will be our year.

Harry, the Suarez bite was the season previous in 2013. 🙂

Well i have to say credit goes to Spurs for passing that sterner test yesterday. it was the game that the old Spurs would have drawn at best or lost. but this Spurs team have now stepped to the next level Since Pochettino has taken over. they have been threatening to to storm higher up the table since 2010. but finally they have got a manager who is determined and a group of players who has the hunger and belief.

There is a power shift in North London and anyone who doesn’t know or acknowledge that is in denial. Wenger can say whatever he wants. but if you look at the two teams yesterday. Spurs were the team with the stronger mentality, physicality, the hunger and more importantly the belief. and there is no surprise that they come out on top.

I hope they retain their manager and players. as it will be good for the league. even if they don’t win next season. it will be difficult not to discount them wining it 2017/18.
