Now that is what I’ve been banging on about. Those are the performances that, on a consistent basis, can win a team some big prizes. Get in 🙂
January 15, 2017 at 6:10 pm #1417345100 thumbs up.
Best best performance from Mignolet for a long time; just breeded assurance today.
January 15, 2017 at 10:57 pm #1417602I thought the guy was top drawer today and unlucky with the goal can’t see him being dropped if he carries on like this. YNWA RIP the 96
January 15, 2017 at 11:19 pm #1417607I have been very critical of him, but today (and in fact all season so far) he has was excellent. We would have lost that game without him.
January 16, 2017 at 4:33 am #1417632And yet Teamtalk only gave him an 8!
What more can a keeper do? Mignolet was absolutely fantastic, I’m pleased to see that i’m not the only one who thought so.
January 16, 2017 at 11:58 am #1417889Not really surprised. Mignolet is one of the best shot stoppers in world football and yesterday confirmed that. It’s his aerial ability that still let’s him down as does his distribution. Even if Karius can’t quite match him for shot stopping, if he proves better in the other two areas, I’m afraid that makes him the better overall keeper no matter what his heroics are. However, for the moment, Mignolet in this form is arguably saving more points than he concedes, i.e. his strengths more than compensate for his weaknesses, which is more than could be said for Karius at the moment.
January 16, 2017 at 1:22 pm #1417979I have only one thing to say on this subject, just wait when he makes a bad mistake & all & sundry will be saying, drop him, his terrible Etc.,
January 16, 2017 at 1:24 pm #1417982MOTM yesterday without a doubt. It’s a shame he couldn’t have won us the 3 points, but he definitely had an absolute stormer of a game and was just a bit unlucky with their goal how the ball got up and over him in such a short distance. He really looks like he has improved this season…
January 16, 2017 at 1:24 pm #1417983Mignolet was definitely MOTM yesterday but Mikus post above @11:58 is right on the button imo.
January 16, 2017 at 3:25 pm #1418072Good to see and I’m pleased for him, he’s a good lad. Karius was very good in midweek as well.
January 16, 2017 at 10:45 pm #1418244Only seen the sorts of the game but it definitely looked like he kept us in it.
January 16, 2017 at 11:26 pm #1418248Totally agree with Mikus and, to be honest, I wouldn’t be posting this if I didn’t think that the gut ought to be cut some slack, he makes mistakes, what keeper doesn’t? He’s not perfect, what keeper is? I’ll stick with him for the foreseeable. YNWA RIP the 96
January 17, 2017 at 9:26 pm #1418756I’m of the opinion, if we get behind both keepers, it will be proved we have TWO very good keepers for the future
Just my opinionJanuary 17, 2017 at 10:12 pm #1418775Fair play to Mignolet as he took being dropped like a real problem, plus he seems to have upped his game considerably in that spell. I’d like to add that Karius also looked better in the cup than before, so are we seeing the man manager in klopp having an effect??!!
January 18, 2017 at 5:21 am #1418807I’m quick to praise Klopp but even with Mignolet’s brilliant performance against Utd, I won’t be hailing any masterplan. whether or not you disagreed with Migs being dropped initially or not, Karius although not soley culpable, played a major role in us dropping those 5 points (bournemouth and west ham?). So yes, Mignolet has been able to come back stronger through sheer will of force. he has more importantly come back to a much more accepting fanbase who can now appreciate what he does bring to the table, knowing that he will make the odd howler. This is absolutely huge now, I’m not saying it isn’t but what I am suggesting is that this was not planned and even though it could be a very telling and positive influence on Mignolet’s Liverpool career, we should be careful of attributing any positive thing that happens at Liverpool to Klopp, who in my view made a mistake by pulling Mignolet from the team when he did.
You guys know how invested I am in Klopp as our next great manager but he’s not perfect. Nothing about success is perfect though, I’ve talked about how we’re not the finished product yet in the same breath as sayign that we can win the title and I stand firm on my position about “finished products”, they don’t exist. Not in any good way anyway.
January 18, 2017 at 8:13 am #1418848Liverlad, exactly mate. The vultures be out as soon as he makes a mistake. Just like they were with klsvsn after two mistakes. People have agendas againest certain players. They ignore the good games and the minute they name a mists,e , they are all over thrm.
Migs should never have been dropped. He’s done nothing wrong all season. I hope this continues but if he makes a mistake thrn people need to give the chap a break.he is commanding his box much better these days. You don’t feel as vulnerable at set plays but it’s worrying when ball is rolled bsck to him. When is the last time we conceded from a cotner?
January 18, 2017 at 8:27 am #1418857Only agenda Sean surely is to win the next game, no matter who’s playing ????
January 18, 2017 at 11:43 am #1418968I don’t think Klavans situation and Mignolet’s is comparable. Migs might make one mistake and get loads of crap over it whereas Klavan has been hot and cold so far.
