wow. big mess up. But ………if Conte and Costa can come into terms and make peace: what a scary squad we’ll have. We have 2 world class strikers who can complement each other in Costa and Morata. Moreover both are Spain international, they would want to show their national team manager what they can do to cement a place in their WC squad

Yep a player that has always angled for a move, not report back for pre season, wearing other football tops etc etc.
You honestly think he wants to play for us again, wow naive or what.

Aindro, I can’t see it mate if it was going to happen would the club have told Costa to stay away for an extra week, would he have been isolated from the pre season tour, would a top member on the Board not have been acting as a peacemaker, would Costa still be in Brazil, would the club be fining him.

It’s all gone too far now imo and even if it could be fixed history tells us that it would be just a matter of time before he played up again.

But having said that football is football and ” It’s a funny old game Saint” so you can never say never.?

bp & 999, I am not optimist neither. But what choice do we have now? Atletico Madrid haven’t bid for Costa. And he was already ordered back to Chelsea, to train.

Aindro…sorry mate but this thing as gone way passsed the talking stage and the battle lines have been drawn.Although the club are staying tight-lipped publicly you can tell there is a tacit statement of intent that they will not be dictated to by this player.Costa for his part will be as awkward as possible showing his arse as usual (no change there then!).Costa and Conte make peace?…it’ll be a cold night in Hades before that happens!

Aindro, my guess is that Costa will either sign for AM or go to a Spanish or Italian club on loan before the window closes.

Chelsea are within their rights to order him back to training as he’s contacted to Chelsea and costing the club the best part of £500m per month.

Personally I think it very unlikely that Costa will play for Chelsea again but I wouldn’t rule it completely out either.

AM are just biding their time as they do not need to put in an offer. They fully understand the predicament we have built for ourselves and so can just sit and wait and ultimately offer a derogatory bid knowing that we do have to unload Costa. Have to say that the way this saga has evolved I really cannot see Costa donning a Blue shirt ever again

We have to try and get the best we can for this player but as he says he only wants to play for AM and they appear to be the only interested party then our options seem to be limited and reducing daily….!! KTBFFH

Send him on loan to a championship side where he’ll get beaten up buy centre halves for a season. Dont sell to Atletico at any cost.

Roman,as a club imo we have to be bigger than that I agree with 1905 we need to sell him at the best price possible and put this problem to bed asap.

Originally I was of the opinion we should just get rid at any cost, but we can’t let Atletico and Costa bully us into accepting a low offer. Either Athletico makes a decent bid or Costa stays with us. Or if he really wants to move that badly he can buy himself out of his contract. But no, Costa wants everything purely on his terms… refusing to train or play for us, dictating what club he moves to and turning down offers from anybody else, etc. We need to play hardball with this one, but also make it very publically clear who is in the right and who is in the wrong here. Any other time the player would be made the villain in the press, but because its Chelsea, of course, it’s all our fault!

look,we know what Costa’s and Athletico’s game is,both are as thick as thieves in a waiting game pushing the club into a corner trying to take the urine out of Chelsea…Athletico will offer nothing more than peanuts for the player and Costa insisting he’ll move nowhere else apart from Atletico. Why the stuff should Chelsea yield to the pair of them?.My solution, tell Costa he be sold to whoever stumps up the required cash and if he refuses he’ll be in footballing purgatory for the duration of his contract to us,we’ll let him waste away and vegetate on gardening leave if we have to!,then tell Athletico ‘no more freebies,no more discount and no more concessions the price is £45 million either pay it or go procreate a feathered friend!.I know 20+ million is better than jackall but it’s not about money,it’s the principle that’s at stake and I’d rather we bite our noses off to spite our faces to uphold the priciple.Sod Costa and Athletico…stuff em!,we can more than afford to make a stand here!

BL – but surely we run the risk that he stays on our books and harldy plays and then he goes for nothing…? In that case we lose out from every single angle

I just think that we are partly to blame for where we are today and we need to get Costa off the books so we should agree a deal today with AM to sell him to them in January at a “reasonable” price (we won’t get top dollar but we do not want to be totally ripped of either)

If the deal is done we tell Costa and see if he would agree to play until January – not sure I could see that happening but he may become more amenable if put that way so he can be match fit and hit the ground running for AM…? KTBFFH

Of course Atletico won’t bid until last minute as they know we want to get rid of Costa. But doing this will make the rest of our transfer window shambolic. I kinda agree just to loan Costa out ASAP to a Spanish or Italian club (AC Milan?) or even Chinese for the well being of our club. We need to get rid of this negativity surrounding the club. Please !! Who’s right or who’s wrong is not important anymore. We already lost our first match at home, we are short in depth too.

1905, I’ve reads reports that AM are happy to take Costa back and get him fit for January???

I can’t see Costa wearing a Chelsea shirt again so I can’t see him back and playing prior to January but you just never know with football.

I think too much has been said now to turn this situation around even temporarily and we need to get Costa gone before the window closes.

Suggestions that AM are prepared to pay circa £40m? I would snatch their hand off if that was true.

1905, yeah he probably would go for nothing in the end mate, but tbh he will be so fat and out of shape by then that his precious Athletico won’t want him.
I know it’s a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face, but I just can’t stand are to see twunts like this win.
We need to get a decent fee off of Athletico. I agree we can’t command top dollar, but we can’t let them take the piss either. You are right, we need to get the deal agreed now and get Costa to sort himself out, but I don’t want to see him in a blue shirt again.

BL, given Conte’s support from the fans at the Bridge and the fans having forgiven Costa the once I can’t see the matchday fans being prepared to accept Costa back in a Chelsea shirt again.

In the current situation, if it’s down to me, I would be happy to give Costa for free to any other club. So we won’t need to pay his salary and we are free of this toxic situation that is surrounding the club for so long.

Again I say this as a Chelsea fan. I want the best for our club. I don’t necessarily put Costa as the wrong part here as I still see Conte shouldn’t have sent him the text. Both parts made mistakes.

But we can’t cry over spoilt milk, this is the situation now. And we need to move forward, to decide what’s the best for the club and I think it would be to get rid of Costa ASAP.
