Let’s have a vote, in his boots who would have passed to Can or Studge or gone for goal?

I would have gone for goal too. ☺

That single incident epitomises everything about Moreno…..brain dead.

Not only did he make the wrong decision but he couldn’t execute the decision he did take.

Split second decision under intense pressure, no way can Moreno be criticised for that. Have seen much better players make worse mistakes.

He had every right to go for goal, but I still think he should have passed the ball though

    Intense pressure?
He had options left and right but he chose to take the hardest option and messed it up to boot.

The guys one of the least intelligent footballers I’ve ever seen.

He should have passed to the ball, no doubt about it, it would have been a set game if that counter had gone in. I understand him wanting to make a impression but doing that is not the way to go about it. This kinda epitomes his career here, its a brilliant run that fades into nothing because of stupidity.

Moreno appeared to have a few seconds to look at his options: https://youtu.be/ogCwXm0Pt2I

He should have passed the ball full stop.

What would have happened if they would’ve scored …. He would’ve been crucified and rightly so.

It’s a shame it was a great interception by him but his decision making leaves a lot to be desired on occasion …

I think his only mistake was to miss the goal. I remember a situation when Gerrard was about to bawl out Xabi Alonso at the end of an FA Cup tie for shooting from the halfway line instead of passing…& then the ball went in. The sensible option for Moreno was to pass, but he knew he could score from where he was. It’s just the execution was poor. Football ‘eh ☺

Agree with just about everyone on here, he should have passed, the options were there and the players who were the options would probably have made a better job of going for goal; the whole episode sums him up not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but, in the same situation I’d have probably gone for goal……………..and missed, thank god it didn’t affect the outcome! YNWA RIP the 96

And if he misplaced the pass by 10 yds straight back to a WBA player counter then score…. he should of shot right

Big balls if he misplaced a pass either side, he would’ve prob got more criticism as it was simple pass to make.

Ginger: Agre with your anlysis wholeheartedly. He is genuinely one of the thickest footballs I’ve ever seen. Stupid unnecessary tackles in the wrong areas, headless chicken booting down the wing with a poor shot and bad final passes and constantly caught out of position. The light are on but there’s nobody home. Simple as that.

The good news is that there appears to be a couple of stupid clubs out there prepared to put in a bid. I’m guessing that they’re prepared to start with a lobotomy.

Him not playing for a long time combined with the situation was just too much pressure for him to handle. He’s always been very keen to please and i think it’s really hurt him, whether it’s dashing out of position or shooting when he should pass, it’s always been a thing with him.

That said, we all know the goal shrinks when the keeper is stranded and you’re bearing down on goal.

I think Moreno might have gone for goal partially because he knows he is leaving in the summer. It’s amazing what a memorable goal can do for a player. Andrea Dossena wasnt the most popular of defenders but a goal against Madrid & one at OT in an amazing week changed that & thoughts of him are always warm ones now. If Moreno gets on the scoresheet with a memorable goal before he leaves then good for him.
