With all the denials in the E&S, and Moxey being as slippery as a mud-wrestling eel about recent rumours, I’d say Robin Li is almost certain to be announced as our new owner very shortly.
June 30, 2016 at 9:24 pm #1087722I tend to agree. The details, particularly regarding the Spanish manager are just too “off the wall” not to be true!
Not sure what to think.
foreign owners can be as good or bad as a UK owner. I just hope that Li is more like the Man City owners than the Birmingham City owners! As for the manager, I have no idea, never heard if him but the Championship is a notoriously difficult Division to get out of, and experience of the Division is usually considered necessary.
July 2, 2016 at 11:34 am #1090275It does seem a bit strange that this time next week Wolves could be one of the richest clubs in the world, but what the hell.
Robin Li is also linked with AC Milan, is he buying both? Ha ha ha..
Certainly the stuff I’ve been reading about Wolves account staff holding talks in hotels with Mr Li’s reps seem to be kosher as the writers swear by their sources.
The Spanish guy didn’t seem to pull up any trees at Porto but everyone seems impressed with him and he is in for the Spanish National job. A Wolves team full of Spaniards? Stranger yet, I hear Wolves scouts went out to the Copa America, a few Argies perhaps, the odd Brazilian…………?
A year of shocks all round, who knows, maybe the take over will happen in time to actually sign some players? Surely not.July 3, 2016 at 3:01 am #1090929Sorry for the absence all I have been in France at the Euros, genuinely went to the England game which was about the only thing all year that has made home games at the Mol seem enjoyable! 😉
Anyway just HAD to comment, I do hope this is true! Just had a look and I see Belague tweeted again not 15 hours ago saying that the manager is actually now tied down (takeover pending) but frankly its the owner we need. Managers come and go but only if the investments there, still hard to tell if this will happen as its obvs all rumor right now. Still in my boredom/desperation for news I clicked onto the Lopetegui twitter feed, funny thing EVERY thing on there is entirely in Spanish (to be expected of course)…except for his new website that he launched a day or so ago for which he has posted both the Spanish and English version?! Hopeful granted…but dream a dream! 😉
July 5, 2016 at 6:09 am #1093488As I said earlier, I dont know what to think, but the bookies have slashed the odds on Wolves getting promoted in the last few days and they are rarely wrong.
I have also seen the rumours that Li is considering a bid for AC Milan as well. Either Wolves or AC Milan? Hmmmm, I wonder if it’s both, after all Mr Li is reported to have £2Bn more personal fortune than Roland Abramovich! Wolves to be emboldened by young Italians from the ACMilan academy???
Who knows, but I do worry that the potential and rumoured new owner may be throwing the baby out with the bath water if he replaces Jackett. Personally I would like to see what he can do with some decent backing and I think he deserves that chance. I also think that the club would need some continuity, even if a new owner takes over.
July 5, 2016 at 9:58 am #1093767From what i can gather, Li is part of a consortium looking to spend £700m to get AC Milan.
Li himself is looking to buy Wolves for £35m.
We might well see ourselves in a similar position to Watford, where we end up with a load of players from Serie A or at least with players that Milan want but don’t want to play straight away.
Exciting times but also cautious times ahead.
July 5, 2016 at 12:09 pm #1094187I think KJ is toast if the deal goes ahead. Its harsh but it was always going to be with a new owner wanting his own guy. Exciting times
July 5, 2016 at 6:06 pm #1094991Well it’s looking like it might really happen. I will be sorry if Jackett has to go as he’s done all he can with what he’s been given. However, I wouldn’t mind much if Thelwell went and would be dancing in the street if Moxey got his P45. Hmmmm… we’ll soon find out.
July 5, 2016 at 6:28 pm #1095024Think I’m wearing my mob out constantly refreshing old news! I think this really will happen though guys! I have to say that whole article of ‘Show KJ some respect’ and some of the posts around this reporting have been bordering on childish! Do these people (journos included) not understand how these kind of HUGE business deals work?! You can hardly make an announcement of details before anythings even been agreed, if they had given details and confirmed that KJ would potentially be gone pending takeover and then heaven forbid it fell through what then? It would make Jacketts position untenable either way! In fact what the club seem to have done is entirely correct and above board and I think Kenny has been kept in the loop far more than we’ll ever know! Lets be honest he can hardly say so can he as he would have been told to simply deflect questions which from what I’ve seen he has done for as long as possible! I don’t think they wanted this story to have broken yet, to be honest stinks of a back door buyers leak to ratchet up pressure/push for a better deal.
For those saying KJ should be kept on and given a crack, while I genuinely respect your loyalty/ sense of decency but the reality is weather its this time or next he will probs be done either way! He knows it better than we do, its the world he operates in and it is what it is. Lets be fair most jobs don’t give you the luxury of paying up your full contract when fired (which by the way will be a nice bonus considering he’ll start a new contract elsewhere by the end of the month) so alls fair and that. Also whilst respect is due lets just be realistic for a second, if the takeover REALLY is backed with the kind of money peeps are suggesting then I think its for the best. I hardly trust KJ and Thelwell on the currently limited budgets we operate on, much a less a double figure budget!
Anyway time will tell I suppose, needs to happen soon cause (sad to admit) but I’ve not been sleeping well since this stuff started to look real! That early bird may just look a little better soon! Lets just wait and see; and keep all fingers and toes firmly crossed, eh 😉
July 7, 2016 at 8:43 pm #1098753I don’t know if anyone saw the aticle on one of the news channels about chinese football a few weeks ago, Sven ex England was interviewed about how the Chinse were developing a program to get to World cup standard. We suddenly seem to have Chinese interested in clubs for sale from AC Milan, Villa, Wolves and I think I saw something about Albion somewherre but didn’t read it. I am just a little concerned the Chinese government may have a hand behind the scenes Wikipedia quotes about Li.
“He is ranked as 119th richest man in the world, according to the Hurun Report Global Rich List 2014.[5] In addition, Li also serves as the member of the 12th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference”
A feeder club for Chinese Talent prior to AC milan ? anyone think this more likely than an italian feeder club or am I just being a cynical paranoid ?
Still with 1.2 billion people surel some good players exist amongst that many people !
July 7, 2016 at 10:43 pm #1098888From what I gather the new President has come in and made it VERY clear that he’s football crazy and that he wants to use the sport to raise China’s international sporting profile. I’m not sure they would have needed to amend wiki (as anyone can do that) also I think it is pretty internationally recognized that Li is minted (and its just not easy to fool people like Forbes). So for me it seems to be akin to Russia, where to carry favour with the current king maker probably opens a lot of doors by itself whilst also following the plan to us the clubs to push Chinese brands abroad. This I think is why the rich boys over there are suddenly falling over themselves to chuck money into the sport.
Not sure we’ll suddenly be full of Chinese youngsters because with the way it is I would imagine they (rightly) want to keep their best talent in there own country and like with anywhere none but the best would make it over here in these leagues. I think they will do what City/ Watford would do though and bounce players around clubs, which (done properly) can actually work so that wouldn’t bother me to much either. Lets be realistic I’m sure there are some AC youngsters that could help a promotion push so why not?
All I do worry about is how long the interest will last, just look at the money behind QPR but they spent badly and lost interest. And then there’s the other enigma…is it dragging on because its more than one bid? As the Mirrors article suggested two parties had signed ND forms, and if so who is the other bidder?!
Sorry to go on but the suspense is killing me, as is the troubled sleep! This NEEDS to end soon the season isn’t that far off! Fingers still crossed 😉
July 9, 2016 at 7:29 pm #1101345Gift Horse and mouth comes to mind, Although I haven’t been a massive critic of Morgan, he’s lost all interest, I’d settle for Jeremy Peace at the moment, we just need a forward plan, at the moment we are literally Headless.
July 10, 2016 at 10:54 am #1101594Between us I think we’ve covered all the angles. Personally, I’ve been disgusted by the behaviour and attitudes towards the fans shown by Morgan and Moxey and very much hope they’ll both be history soon. As for being owned by a billionaire? Well as long as he spends some cash (well) on the team, I’ll be delighted as it’s obvious (rightly or wrongly) that that’s what even Championship clubs need to do in order to compete. However, the squad is down to bare bones and whilst players are going (even KMac is supposed to be off now) none are yet coming in. This deal needs to be done quickly and purchases made asap, as even if we go on a spree now, we’re still going to start the season with a team of strangers.
However, it seems likely(!) we’re going to get all we might have wished for in the new owner so let’s get ready to get excited about the new season – and have a good moan too. It’s a hell of a ride being a Wolves fan.July 10, 2016 at 11:48 am #1101660This one is for real. It is going to happen.
I can’t tell you how I know but I do.
July 10, 2016 at 11:19 pm #1102656Haha, ah Vinni your funny!! I tell you ‘how you know’ its probably the same way we ALL do …because its been all over the net?! 🙂
July 10, 2016 at 11:29 pm #1102668Manzikert1071, I agree about the treatment of Morgan, only 4 years in the Premiership in the last 30 odd years, 3 under Morgan, Sir Jack stopped spending 2 years before he took over, and if it hadn’t have been for McCarthy’s first season with a team of rag tag and bob tails, I think Sir Jack may have suffered similar treatment. Moxey just doing his job, however he gets well paid to take the crap.
July 10, 2016 at 11:33 pm #1102683Vinniw, please don’t tell me, I’d hate for you to have to Kill me!, seriously I hope you’re right.
July 11, 2016 at 3:41 pm #1103802I think lots of things are all over ‘the net’, some true, some false.
But this deal is for real and I know for a fact that the necessary papers have been lodged with the newly named EFL to undertake the fit and proper person test.
That’s a fact.
July 12, 2016 at 8:26 pm #1108047Appreciated Vinni, but the point that I was making is the fact that papers have been lodged is about the only facts of this deal that any of us do seem to know! I don’t suppose your source had any more exclusive facts….such as the name/s on said paperwork??
July 21, 2016 at 3:43 pm #1123215OK the deal is done which is great but being a worrywart I am now concerned that the manager lined up allegedly is not coming. Mind you that is not surprising given he has just been announced as Spain’s manager. Apparently the link with this super agent is still very much there , apparently he will get us the players. That bothers me a bit , I suspect he will become the new scapegoat for the fans now Jez is going (his own choice apparently). So this could be the new dawn but given we will have a new CEO, a new manager (allegedly and probably foreign) and a new owner I suspect there will be lot of mistakes made before we get there. I will make a plea now for patience because whoever the new boss he will have no time get the team ready for his way of playing even if and when he gets new players.
