A shaky start but it all ended happily ever after. Great to watch at times but great gaping holes through the middle at times as well. We have the ammo up front but another powerhouse midfielder required if we’re to hold our own with the better sides. Add a couple of quality full backs and we won’t be far off.

United we Win…only somebody very naive would be making angry snap judgements after 30 minutes. It was a bad start but with the quality players on the pitch I had faith we would get it right. Fair play to The Geordies for having a go but we got their measure pretty quickly and a 4-1 defeat flattered them rather than us.

Utd we win – I’m not praising Mata, I’m just pointing out that it was ridiculous from you to single him out as a weak link after 30 mins when it was a defensive mistake which cost us the goal.

I’d say bar bailly that’s our strongest first 11.

My only disappointment if you could call it that was lukaku again only scoring the 4th goal and not the vital 1st or 2nd.

Confidence is high again so onto Basel away.

I’m not saying he cost us the goal I just feel in an attacking sense he s slow and needs to get that ball in quick and link up.

WonderF u had more faith than me I’ll give you that! at 30 mins I was genuinely worried. I just hope against better sides they don’t start in such a manner.

Really hope Jose plays a much changed side against Basel away!.Rest some players since we can afford to lose this game.DDG,Matic,Pogba,Lukaku, and Martial shouldn`t even travel imho.

What a difference Pogba makes. Quality player.

Martial is a joy to watch too.

The problem is you singled him out when he’d done nothing wrong. You’d just seen Utd go behind so took the opportunity to criticise a player just because you don’t like him. That’s why I thought it was bizarre and pulled you up on it. If you’d criticised some one like Lindelöf I’d have said fair play or if you’d criticised mata after he makes a mistake I’d say the same but you made your comment as a result of Newcastle scoring which just didn’t make sense.

    Are you related to Mata?

“Mata?f ing worse than mikhi. All of them asleep all of them with zero desire!”

That was my summation at 30 mins .At any one moment in time a player may show little do little and for me mata was that moment. There’s no agenda it’s just how it is attacking wise I still think he s a weak link. That’s my opinion not quick enough!

Agree with united we win. In the first half Newcastle played much quicker than us with fewer touches on the ball. Going out for halftime the score could have been 0-3. If Newcastle can play us of the park what will City and Arsenal do to us?

How anyone can talk up the Spanish midget Mata is beyond belief.

Not sure about Lindelof yet.Valencia is unbelievable poor. Matic had an off day,Shelvey was way better.

The positives were Pogba and Martial,Rashford can do some real good stuff to.
Young is good going forward and is a good crosser of the ball but he is not a defender by any means.

Yeah Shelvey was much better then Matic! Ha ha, imagine actually thinking that.

Great result though an OK to good performance – Pogba, Smalling, De Gea and Young were excellent, most of the others were good to OK. Lindelof had a poor game I felt again, even when we were completely in control he never looked comfortable. Mata had an OK game but it seems that the No.10 role at the moment isn’t something that’s working out for anyone as you need to have some quick and strong in that position – something neither Mata nor Mhkitaryan are. Rashford I thought also wasted too many balls.

Nice to see Lukaku get on the scoresheet again and Ibrahimovic getting some minutes.

i’ve always wanted to see a trio of Lukaku Martial and Rashford and JOse couldn’t haven’t chosen a better time and a better match to start them together, with Pogba back these three would surely cause some damage although not as i expected but given it’s the first match they’ve played together they did really really well and we were just too fast for a deep sitting Newcaslte side…looking forward to the next game GGMU

Jose should just bin Mata too like Mihki, and play Herrera alongside Pogba and Matic!.With Pogba on the side and Martial and Rashford,we have more than enough to create chances galore!.Mata offers absolutely nothing at all these days.

    @libanski,

I agree regarding Martial-Lukaku-Rashford. It wasn’t a fantastic performance by any means and I too was hoping to see more, but it was ok. Sometimes things wouldn’t come off for the three of them, but they kept trying and in the end they all left the field with goals or assists. So I’m happy JM finally tried this formation and would like to see it being used again. Things are looking up! Cheers everyone!
