    Yeah, big bonnets they had too so the 3 litre would sit nicely. Petrol-eater no doubt though Pax, though in those days, it was cheaper 🙂

    In those days I never worried about the price of petrol, there again cigarettes were about £1 for 20, and beer was £1 a pint 🙂

    Never really a big fan of the Capri, much preferred the MKI and MKII Escorts. Having said that the memories of them are probably better than the reality, I honestly don’t think we’d swap back to the old cars if we had to live with them on a daily basis….Pagan

    Obviously our more modern cars are better and easier to live but it is the small things about our old cars that we can think back to. I also liked the MKI and MKII Escorts, but it was probably a fault with the Capri that made me love it so much. Many people used to drive around with a bag of sand or cement in the boot because it was so skittish, but that is what I loved about it, you could get the back to step out at will, two years of regularly taking that sideway improved my driving skills no end.

    Pax, capris were terribly tail happy, and judging by your car history it put you off rear wheel drive cars, yeah I know it’s only mainly BMWs that are that configuration now.
    The other thing that has changed is 24/7 shopping and CCTV, you can’t twat about in the snow on a car park anymore, which is a great shame….Pagan

    Paxman, I didn’t think Audi made RWD A4s, but if you say so I’ll have to take your word for it…..Pagan

    Pagan;

    You’re right. The Audi A4 didn’t come in rear wheel drive. Fwd or Awd were the options.

    Just the usual bigging himself up bullshit from Paxman.

    Probably was “swinging the back out” in a Morris Minor. lol

    Bloggy, that’s a bit unfair, there are several explanations

    1. They did make some “special” RWD ones

    2. Someone modified one to make a drift car

    3. He had an AWD model with the front box disconnected

    4. He was driving it backwards

    Pagan – I have had a couple of days off as my nan died the other night so I have been helping my dad and uncles sort her stuff out.

    I thought my A4 was a rwd, I didn’t have it for long and it was past a time that I used to work on my own cars.

    I never once said about drifting it or stepping the back out, that was only ever spoke about with regards to the Capri.
