One of my main critiques of Mourinho was that he isn’t the long-term solution and only brings some short-term success. He has never lasted more than three full seasons at any of the clubs he has managed. Nevertheless, I was hoping that Mourinho will build our club up again and eventually leave a positive legacy. I was hoping that the club will re-establish itself in the PL and in Europe when he does leave. I was hoping that Mourinho has his mind on a long term stay at the helm of MUFC. I was wrong. History does not lie. United need another rebuilding job after Mourinho wears out his welcome as usual in 2 to 3 years.

I’m keenly following what Guardiola is doing at Man City. It looks to me he is building a long-term empire. All the players he is signing are at their early 20’s (Stones, Jesus, Sane, Bernando Silva, etc) and they seem to integrate smoothly in his team philosophy. What I truly admire about Guardiola is the fact that he has the balls to get rid of the old players (Zabaletta, Sagna, Clichy, Navas, Hart, etc). Its completely the opposite with Mourinho. He prefers to bring in his “established” stars. This is a manager who had no use for two of the Premier Leagues current best players – Lukaku and De Bruyne. After Guardiola left Barca, they kept on winning under Enerique. This is because most of the title winning players were in their 20’s (Messi, Iniesta, Busquets, Pique, etc). After Mourinho left Inter Milan, they fade into obscurity. This is because most of the title winning players were well in their 30’s (Maicon, Cordoba, Cambiasso, Materrazi, Eto’o, Zanetti, Millito, Walter Samuel, Pandev, etc etc)

Now I’m really really perplexed and worried about our future. While Gurdiola is signing rising stars and get rid of the deadwood in his team, Mourinho is adding players late in their 20’s with massive transfer fee and wages and kept the deadwood in our club. I’m truly depressed when I heard Carrick has signed a one year deal. Considering the type of refit needed to regain Premier League dominance and UCL success, Mourinho should have shown the exit door to Carrick, Rooney, Zlatan, Young and Smalling etc

Perisic is a good player but he’s 29 and it’s obvious he’s coming to replace Martial. It’s obvious to me Mourinho’s aim is to win the league and few more trophies in short-term and leave us in a very bad state after 3 years. Our future looks bleak guys. I will be happy to be proven wrong.

Interesting you only point out what he left at Inter, however you ignore what he left in both occasions at Chelsea as well as what he left at Real Madrid.

Perisic is first of all a right winger so he’s obviously not replacing Martial.

I’m not worried about the apparent legacy City are going to leave, they bought Silva and imo that hasn’t improved their squad, they need gk, a whole new defence and centre midfielders. So he hasn’t addressed the issues at city as of yet.

Also with talk of Mourinho signing a new contract this may be the first time he bucks his 3 year trend at clubs because he’s experienced most leagues.

Apparently you haven’t seen Perisic playing. He is a left side attacking player. So yeah he’s coming to replace Martial. To be fair, I could dust the boots off and get a game at Utd. I’m better than Young and Carrick that’s for certain.

Make your mind up tMA. You posted the below only last night.

jm1502 – Perisic is a really good footballer.. He’s both powerful and athletic… certainly capable of improving our team so i’m not surprised Jose is looking to sign him.

In a physical league like the prem, Perisic athleticism and physicality is a huge bonus. I really hope Perisic would flourish in PL.. Mr poor mans C Ronaldo. The rebuilding process begins. The juggernaut is on the move. Manchester United will soon be unstoppable.

jm1502 – I have seen Perisic playing a lot of times. He’s a good player and will surely improve us. My concern is the long-term vision of Mourinho for this club. He cant keep on signing players in their late 20’s and retain the likes of Rooney, Zlatan, Young, etc on insane wages. He should have been rebuilding for the future as well.
