Hi everyone,
For the few of you that are interested, the project I’ve been working on since leaving TT has finally got a website – planetfootball.com
We won’t carry any news or opinion pieces, and we haven’t got a forum or comments section because I want to do something completely different to what everyone else is doing. There’s no negativity, no moaning, just lots of focus on the good things about football.
Already we’ve published two exclusive interviews with Gigi Simoni and Dion Dublin, plus a couple of other great features and quizzes. There’s plenty more where that came from so hopefully we’ll see some of you on there from time to time.
January 17, 2017 at 8:06 pm #1418725Congrats Mark the site looks great with some interesting piecies. I will definitely pop in and have a read on a regular basis. Cheers 999
January 17, 2017 at 8:18 pm #1418728Hi Mark,
looks good mate ,one problem though I have not received my e-mail for alerts and updates.January 17, 2017 at 8:25 pm #1418732Cheers lads.
Shinehead, I don’t know too much about that to be honest, but check your junk folder as a first job because there’s a sporting chance it could land in there as we’re a new site.
January 17, 2017 at 8:59 pm #1418746Thanks Mark,
it’s just arrived,just took a whileJanuary 18, 2017 at 7:01 am #1418814An EXCLUSIVE interview?

good luck Mr
January 18, 2017 at 7:29 am #1418823I have it on my desktop though I feel you should allow people to comment on various articles, it does obviously not have to be a whole teamtalk effort but virtually all publications allow readers to post a comment on all their articles.
January 18, 2017 at 9:41 am #1418903notnice, it was a tough, brave decision to make not to host a comments section, but the site is supposed to be a celebration of football. Unfortunately, comments sections don’t lend themselves to that ethos.
In time we may publish readers’ mails instead.
January 18, 2017 at 11:17 am #1418950I love the concept Mark
January 18, 2017 at 12:14 pm #1418984Mark, you surprise me, you dont want to have a message board populated by children you have to monitor on a minute by minute basis?! Brave move 😉
January 18, 2017 at 12:38 pm #1418997So its basically the opposite of your Monday moan weekly column.
Nice idea, but i think as a concept it’s pretty out there, journalism is built on the foundations of outrage and negativity.
It’ll be interesting to see if this approach to football reporting works.
January 18, 2017 at 4:27 pm #1419116Thanks, NB.
TTG, the Monday Moan was never my idea, but you do what your boss tells you to.
Planet Football is all me. It’s been in the planning for 12 months, and I believe there’s a gap in the market for it.
As you correctly say, everyone else is doing outrage/negativity, not to mention clickbait and regurgitation, but everyone I know is sick and tired of it all. We’re not going to be an overnight success because we won’t be churning out lots of sensational headlines to get people in, but in time I hope people will keep coming back us because they love football and want to read good stories about positive things.
January 18, 2017 at 4:39 pm #1419119I smell a revolution. Hats off to you Mark and good luck. I will be using the new site.
January 18, 2017 at 4:52 pm #1419122Good luck Mark. We should all welcome pioneering ideas like this whilst we drown in a flood of ignorance and misinformation. You have my clicks pal!
January 18, 2017 at 5:12 pm #1419125Cheers for the reply mark, and trust me, I do think its a great idea for the reasons mentioned above.
I’ll definitely help to support it and will be sure to spread the word amongst my friends.
Not that you need it but good luck with it all and i’m sure it will be a resounding success.
January 18, 2017 at 6:50 pm #1419149Looks good Mark. All the best with the site.
January 18, 2017 at 7:08 pm #1419154Mark, you should really state that everyone in England….
January 18, 2017 at 8:58 pm #1419189Typical media for the modern world. No analysis or criticism, no edge, everything just smoothed out into a kind of exhibition football blandness……….Underlain of course with the fact that there is no recourse to oppose the facts you are getting.
Great ambition Mark, lots of people called Piers and Nils on the payroll………..
The words bunch and saddo’s comes to mind.January 18, 2017 at 9:01 pm #1419191Haha you won’t be visiting then, Knotter?!
We don’t expect it to be everyone’s cup of tea, but to describe is as ‘typical media’ is way off because what we’re doing is the polar opposite of what everyone else is.
January 18, 2017 at 9:58 pm #1419217Best of luck homzy. Hope it kicks off for you me aul chum.
