Rs7, I completely get where you’re coming from mate.

It’s not a case (for the sake of it) to be chucking 40 miliion here there and everywhere, but when we put together a fulcrum of good quality players, we just succumb to the advances of Real and Barca.

That’s the fundamental factor that pulls our squad apart totally and the Club Manager is then on the brunt of it. He then gets the push and somebody new is brought in.

That’s predominantly been our cycle down the years. We bring in players that have the potential to be top like the examples of Masher and Alonso, but we don’t keep hold of them.

Plus those players too don’t see us sign the better players to play with them, so they see it as the club showing no ambition and that sort of helps in them decided whether they should stay or go.

I’d like to see the owners make a statement with Phillipe for example, though ultimately, I do get that no player is bigger than the club as we found with Suarez. More investment and harvest needed in our academy; that is something that is in genuine need of addressing.

RS7, FSG’s hands are tied they can’t spend more than Liverpool FC generate themselves on transfers because of FFP even if they wanted to.

I see both sides of the argument here tbh. There is no doubt we are in better shape and a lot more stable than we were. Our stadium is starting to look like it can sit up there with the big boys but their petulant little swipe by refusing to continue expansion because of the ticket price row is worrying. Off the pitch things are very good. It’s on the pitch, which matters more imho, that we are failing. We have one of the best managers in world football which is why we are currently overachieving with a crap squad. Yes, our squad is crap. We have two dodgy keepers, a 30 yr old midfielder playing left back and a 30+yr old midfielder as our CB back up. We are in profit from transfer dealings yet cannot (or will not) sign a decent LB and CB for which we are screaming out for. It’s not just this season, we constantly fail to move on when we have the chance. Klopp has worked a miracle to have us still in touch with top four at this stage of the season (we will be fifth tomorrow) but the fact remains the squad we have will never have a sustained title challenge. That, my friends, is down to the owners. There is no point getting it right off the field if the playing staff don’t match up.

Shanksy, from everything I’ve seen reported FSG have yet to take a single penny out of the club.

If the club are running in profit in this fy and costs associated with the building of the new stand can be excluded there is nothing to stop the club spending any transfer profits that exist.

Klopp seems a prudent spender and perhaps he can’t buy the players he wants and would prefer to keep his powder dry until he can he suggested as much in his recent interview on SSN’s re January signings??? Cheers 999

I agree nine FSG seem to be decent owners and we are lucky in that respect. Klopp is not a fan of the January window and has said he feels there is no value in it. He said it months ago and repeated it recently as you say. Problem is we NEED players mate especially in two specific positions and if we fail to address the problem then I honestly see us possibly finishing outside top four. The other thing is three of our best signings in the last 10 years came in January. That said so did Carroll!!!!
