Man Utd have been playing well in the majority of our games this season and the football has been good. If you are a neutral watching Man Utd games just for fun; you will know that we had a colossal bad luck sometimes. Unlucky results against Stoke, Burnley, Westham, Arsenal and Everton that should’ve added 10 more points to our total but that’s football for you.

I think we are about to turn the corner. Unbeaten in 10 – same as Chelsea. Just not scoring winning goals, hitting posts and not beating keepers. Best 4th defensive team. Don’t worry, January we’ll make it better for the doubters. Ibra & Pogba are in good form, Jones & Rojo have been excellent at CB with Mike & Bailly still to return, there’s good competition for the full back positions and Carrick/Herrera have formed a nice understanding plus Mkhi has only really started his United career and looked fantastic in the games he played. Potentially 5 wins on the bounce with Sunderland and Boro at home.

Our wobble is behind us, Liverpool have theirs to come.

@999 – Haha the smartest way to prove someone wrong. Yeah Chelsea won 11 straight Premier League match. It would be a significant landmark if Chelsea breaks Arsenal’s all-time English record of consecutive wins. At least, I was correct in my assertion that Chelsea are title contenders 2 months back. As a united fan, Chelsea is the one team I wouldn’t mind winning the league if it’s not United. The thought of Liverpool winning the league gives me nightmares.

Ok here’s another analysis. Which club has in the last 26 seasons finished below United on 23 occasions… only won 1 trophy (a league cup ) in the last 10 years… failed to qualify for the champs league in 6 of the last 7 seasons… has an average 6th placed finish in the last 7 seasons after finishing 7th.. 6th.. 8th.. 7th.. 2nd.. 6th.. 8th.. and has failed to win a single league title in over a quarter of a century…. Answers on a postcard..

tma, you had more faith than me mate especially after the Arsenal game when Europa League qualification looked a very tough task.

It’s been a great run but it won’t go on for ever and there’s still a long long way to go but Chelsea have only dropped 8 points all season so you just never know.

I was hopeful of CL challenge this season so it’s nice to be back in that race when it looked like all hope was lost for CL qualification.

Casting my mind back a few weeks I seem to remember you suggesting you were going to cut back on your Liverpool baiting and it is the season of goodwill! ? Cheers 999

@999 – Another smart way of answering my query on the club in question. I don’t worry about Liverpool & wish them well for their season. We are 7 points off them and knowing they are world class choke artists along with Arsenal, we will probably catch them young before end of January. Jose only need to beat them at OT. Our good times are about to roll. Mighty Man Utd, night mares can come true for them

Nothing more entertaining than angry shanksgate… wish you Merry Christmas and watch the resurgent Manchester United under Mourinho era… by the fourth week of January United will creep back into the top 4.

Not much in it now though stevo…and Arsenal looking very vulnerable to me. Especially with that glass jaw you’ve always had under Wenger when the pressure is on.

Arsenal traditionally play like Champions when they are fully out of the title race and the pressure is off and then they zip up the table to secure a guaranteed CL place.

I expect exactly the same from them this season.

The other times they squeaked in to the top four they were up against ordinary Spurs and Everton sides. Different beasts around them this time, teams that fancy the league next year not a jaunt in the Champions League with managers used to big time pressure…I think they’ll struggle. Especially as so much as a misplaced pass is enough to get the Home Counties darlings in the crowd reaching for the crayons to write an A4 Wenger out sign.

5 clubs chasing 3 spots. Whilst CFC are not at all guaranteed the title, I reckon they’ve secured top four. Even 999 would have to agree. I’d say both Manchester clubs currently have the momentum and squads. Utd currently have a shedload of fixtures coming up so tiredness may be a factor. But Jose knows how to win, especially the big games. Seems he’s now got he’s preferred 11 playing the way he wants them to. City go 2nd tonight if they win. Although they are still shaky at the back they’ve got massive firepower in the middle of the park and up front. They are our biggest threat in my opinion. Liverpool need to get themselves up for the lesser games. If they treat each game like a cup final I reckon they’ll finish top four. Mane needs to stay injury free for their run in…his pace, movement and goal scoring ability are the difference in LFC fading to mid table obscurity or CL football. The Goons have looked the least convincing in recent weeks. The current uncertainty surrounding their best players adds to their vulnerability. Spurs probably have the strongest starting 11 when all their players are fit. JV and DR are huge losses and make an immense difference to their defence. All depends when they return. If I had to wager I’d say…in no particular order, CFC, City, Utd and Liverpool for top four. Promises to be a fascinating run in.
