No one in their right mind goes to China unless the money is insane.
The Chinese are dirty, have dodgy diets, live on top of each other and the smog is incredible at times. Rooney should leave with dignity – he’s a legend and should go to USA. Even though the yanks lack culture they offer a much better lifestyle and besides, Wazza loves his burgers!
February 22, 2017 at 10:52 pm #1439038Hatters he loves money!
February 23, 2017 at 6:56 am #1439057His agent is reported to be over there now. A move looks likely, whether now or in the summer.
Good luck to him. Club legend in my eyes.
February 23, 2017 at 8:52 am #1439128Great player in his day but that’s long gone. Hope he goes as soon as possible, preferably by Tuesday, and that we get as much as possible for him. I suspect it’ll be summer, although neither would it surprise me if he tried to see his contract out.
February 23, 2017 at 8:53 am #1439129Good news if Rooney leaves. Makes it a lot easier for the manager to build a new core of team. Rooney had a great carreer but for the last 5 years his present has hindered many players and the club. This is good news if you want Man United´s best. I started a thread some months ago,Griezmann for Rooney, this can be true.
February 23, 2017 at 8:58 am #1439130Zico…wouldn’t you prefer we got some good scouts, poached from Manchester City perhaps, and went out and uncovered the next Griezemann though? I’m very uncomfortable with us spending 80 odd million on him. These big galactico signings hav never worked out very well for us.
February 23, 2017 at 9:51 am #1439166@wonderfuel gas. I had my reservations about the fee for Pogba but unfortunately this is how much worldclass players cost these days. We are a completely different animal with Pogba in the team, he oozes class and Griezmann would make us a really scary outfit with Zlatan, Mkhitaryan, Rashford, Martial, and Mata in reserve. It’s also obvious Griezmann wants to play for us with all his insinuations about wanting to play with Pogba and his utterances about David Beckham being his favourite player (guess who just left the no7 shirt open?).
If we sign Griezmann at whatever cost having shipped Memphis, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Young, and Rooney I reckon the trophies will follow for several years and Mourinho will have completed the rebuild we were desperately crying out for. After that, we can sack Mourinho or keep him but the quality of our squad will be incredible.
February 23, 2017 at 10:03 am #1439173Happy with the big name signings but it would also be good, as Wonderfuel says, if our scouts could occasionally unearth the next Mbappe.
February 23, 2017 at 10:15 am #1439178Of course Wonderfuel Gas,this has been my biggest concerns with Man united. Hire the best scouts. Why cant we do it? Well, with the appointment of José better players are signed, thank god for that. But as you said, its way over the top fees for Pogba and Griezmann, better to find them earlier and thats what you do with proper scouts.
February 23, 2017 at 10:46 am #1439210Anyone seen much of this Kessie bloke?
February 23, 2017 at 10:52 am #1439214The one from Barnsley, likes Kestrels?
February 23, 2017 at 11:20 am #1439228There’s always one!
February 23, 2017 at 11:27 am #1439235Franck Kessie of Atalanta? No, not seen anything of him. Heard a lot in the press though. Seems to be linked with all and sundry.
February 23, 2017 at 4:29 pm #1439421@hatters-Sorry mate but unless you
re talking remote villages, life in China
s metropoles is very much like in any other western city.Been to Shanghai and Peking[Beijing] myself, and very much enjoyed it.And yes, they are offering “crazy” money. If Xavi can play in Qatar….February 23, 2017 at 5:40 pm #1439455@redblood. I have never been to China but I was stationed in Singapore for a short while last year where I had a chat with someone from my company who had. Basically he said it was unbearable when he had been seconded to Guangzhou and I was going off his opinion alone. Ignoring the fact that it’s an insanely large country.
I reckon it goes without saying that Paul Stretford will make sure Rooney isn’t caught up in smog and has plenty of good burgers from top notch restaurants.
February 23, 2017 at 6:19 pm #1439473He’s staying till the end of the season then. Think that’s the right decision….for him and for us. We’ve a hell of a lot of games coming up and I think he has a part to play in helping us through them. Who knows, maybe he’ll get the fairytale ending that he’s dreamed of?
February 23, 2017 at 7:05 pm #1439484Watched Kessie in the African Cup of Nations and he was pretty anonymous to be honest. It was a crap tournament in general though, so maybe not the best on which to judge him. No doubt Bailly will have bigged United up to him.
February 23, 2017 at 7:57 pm #1439498@hatters-Hehehe.
February 24, 2017 at 11:39 am #1439776So we’ve got Rooney until the end of the season. Rumour is that Everton made a bid for him in January but we turned it down, yet we were happy for him to go to China. Maybe Everton’a offer was piss poor. Just hope he doesn’t run his contract down and stay beyond the end of the season because that would be 300k a week for another season for a guy who won’t even make the bench, with no transfer fee at the end of it. Wouldn’t surprise me.
February 24, 2017 at 12:38 pm #1439804The problem with Rooney to China is that he is already on massive coin at Utd and lives just done the road from Liverpool. Say what you want about Moyes but giving Rooney a 300 grand a week contract was fucking insanity. I have a feeling we’re stuck with him until his contract expires. He will keep saying all the right things about playing and game time but he may not be going anywhere until he has got every last penny out of the club.
