Pick up the 3 points today and that makes for a very successful Xmas period with 7/9 points.

It will be tricky and although we won’t play again for a week I suspect Monk will make one or two changes. I’d give Phillips a rest and start Vieira. I suspect Bartley and Wood might come back in too.

Rotherham will be well up for a scrap but we should have too much for them. I’d plump for 2-0 with second half goals, another nervy one like Burton and Brentford.

Good to hear from you Dandy!

It is back to the football and I must admit these are days of looking forward to matches with a degree of optimism.

Rotherham will be a scruffy scrap and I am not expecting many goals difference between the two. All we need is a clean sheet today and the rest will take care of itself.

I am hoping for Bartley to return to the back four in place of the inept Cooper. Taylor might be back but I am getting more certain that he will be on his bike to another club fairly soon – more’s the pity. Wood should also be back. I wonder if Antonsson should be given a whirl, at least for a good chunk of the match in place of Roofe who probably needs a breather.

Also, a weather eye on the Transfer Window. If all we do is sign up Pontus and get a forward and a defender in I will be happy. I doubt anyone will at the club will be going crazy.

We wait to see how Massimo goes into “exile”!

Sloppy, ugly, first half where we looked like we were the ones in a relegation scrap. It was Green’s double save that kept us in it at half time. Full credit to him.

There are many more encounters along the way that are going to be tough and uncompromising like that first half. Monk’s tactical acumen came through quite clearly in the second half; that was a revitalized, reinvigorated Leeds United. The introduction of Vieira was decisive and the outcome was there for all to see. It’s looking like Wood’s going to become a twenty-goal man.

So here we are, at the beginning of January, sitting in 5th position and looking good. Alot will depend on the transfer window although I doubt we’re going to see any major movers and shakers – a striker, perhaps. All in all, it’s a deeply satisfying time – water in the desert – really, considering what we’ve been through in recent years.

Always one more mountain to climb, always one more river to cross.

Kicking off the New Year with 3 points, 3 goals and a clean sheet in front of a very healthy home crowd. Fantastic! We have not seen this kind of a day in an over long time.

No time not to ponder and wonder for too long. We have not won anything nor has anything become suddenly certain. It is just 3 points. All we can be sure about, Football League allowing, is that we can forget about relegation this season.

Let us forget about it, move on and look at the next couple of matches – Cambridge United away a week today and then Derby at home a week on Friday. Let them worry about having to play us.

Also, I think young Taylor is on his way elsewhere considering that he was not even in the match day squad. If that is so, again let us move on. No one is bigger than the club.

Hopefully a few more folk will start giving a few minutes to sign up and contribute to Team Talk. It is not a brilliant site but a bit of banter can be fun. COME ON!

Morning Phoenix/TSM – It’s an old cliché but that was a game of two, very different, halves. Monk has a great knack of making bold substitutions and changing the flow of a game.

Jansson, Hernandez and Bartley need to be signed up ASAP. We can use the Taylor money he looks to be on his way like you’ve said. Berardi is Taylor’s equal defensively but in my opinion Taylor is superior going forward.

Cambridge are in great form and it’s a major banana skin but we’ve got to be confident.

Happy with the 3 goals, a clean sheet and 3 points, great festive period… a bit of extra luck and it could have been all 9 points but 4 points from Aston Villa this season is great!

Looking forward to the next 2 matches 🙂
