Not sure if anyone else has the same view but my concerns have to do with Roy and the use of his bench. In all out games he has failed to utilise the bench and I feel this could be a downfall in his management. I realise we do not have the depth but surely is pays to change things around and give others at least 30 minutes to prove their worth. I may do some research on this but I do feel this is one of Roy’s weaknesses anyone else?

I wish to revisit this subject for it is bugging me, though from the silence I may be in the minority. After the Spurs game I have just read Roy saying the lack of experience and youth was our down fall, well who is to blame for that? Roy take a look at yourself, Townsend did nothing all day yet he was only replaced by Lee at the 87 min mark. What was he expecting a goal from a player who has barely notched up 30 minutes game time 6 months? Tomkins has cramp, runs around for 5 minutes then is replaced at the 85 minute mark, then Kane scores, it is only cramp for crying out aloud standing around on one leg would have been better than throwing Damo in when we were under attack for 85 minutes expecting an old bloke who also has limited game time to adjust to the tempo of the game? I use these 2 examples of where in my opinion Roy has no idea for he also says youth was a factor in our loss, what two 20 year old’s Fossu-Mensah has being playing long enough with us but young Aaron Wan-Bissaka has hardly had a sniff of any game time and that is Roy’s doing for he could have been given many opportunities to get some game time and experience not wait until we had no one left. What about the other 2 players Rakip and Jach we are desperate for signings and we get 2 who are not match ready. Yes Roy is partly to blame and though he has turned it around if we stay up we should look for someone to the future unless he starts to become more flexible with his rotation, which is currently non existent. Views?

Townsend did one decent cross but the alternative would be no better, we are so short of decent players fora Premier side. I’m not sure that the players you mentioned were the choice of Roy’s, I blame our scouting system and the ability to foresee future players and also the ability to tie down targets. We must get players in AND out early to get off to a better start next year which would allow youngsters on thr bench. Sorry Jabbs your boot not required.

Punch will it really matter if we get off to a bad start next year as we will be in the Chumpionship. We are in big big trouble. The only quality player we are going to hopefully get back fit is Zaha and he alone will not save us. Now 8 games without him and no points!! Where was Cabaye yestersday ? I suppose he got injured training as well.. shocking !!

Cabaye strained a groin muscle at training I believe? With Roy, Punch I wasn’t inferring Lee should have come on as a matter of fact he should have been released to Bolton. We had others on the bench who would have done a better job. My point was that other players aren’t given a chance to become accustomed to this league then when things go awry he blames youth and inexperience? Give them game time so when we do need them to step up they are up to it.

For a team with 12 injured players, we put up a decent rear guard action.. For me, the worst player was Benteke… He didn’t put in a shift, whereas Sorloth at least wanted it… We can moan about our recruitment, but 12 injured players is so far beyond the average, even if wed have recruited a keeper and two more players we would still be in the shit.. losing one game changer is tough luck, losing 4 or 5 would impact that at the top let alone us… I really feared getting murdered by Spurs, and whilst against teams like them we have at least the ability to not get stuffed, past the next two games, and with a few more back, we can at least say there is spirit and dogged determination, and that may well just be the deciding factor… I am open minded here.. if we go down we will just have to dust down… we could certainly keep sorloth and wickham, and I think they’d run riot in the championship, but I’m not resigned to that right now.. Image how that game would have panned out with Sorloth through the middle, Sako and Zaha and loftus cheek through the middle.. man, scary or what… If and it is an IF we can stay up, I think we could really truely achieve something next season… We would have a new solid keeper, Wickham and sorloth, sad to say but I think we will lose Zaha, but I think Roy has the ability to get a few decent players in, whilst Mutch and Lee are gone, I think we need to say goodbye to Townsend, Puncheon, Benteke and Delaney…. I will say it here and now.. but if we stay up, I think we will end up signing Loftus Cheek.. Fosu I think will head back to Manchester as he is part of their set up going forward.

Does anyone know the latest on Wickham and Loftus Cheek ? Why is Cabaye even training we cant afford anymore injuries. Things are getting really desperate. Time to wrap up the players in cotton wool. I hope the beast from the east cancels our next few games to give usa chance to get some players back from injury !!

Forget about both of them, Chelsea aren’t keen to let him have an operation on his ankle so recovery will be slow and Wickham is back but over did the training and is still 4 – 6 weeks away at best. Cabaye pulled a calf muscle and there has been nothing about this
weeks game against United. I am not too worried about going down for the last 5 games will define were we will be and I hope 10th. Punch I will post something to test the waters
