Apparently the signing of Sakho is now dead in the water ! What a disaster. My optimism for next season has now turned to despair. The man oozed class and was the reason why we stayed up. Without him I cant see how we will compete next season. Another season of struggle beckons i’m afraid .

Yes it is very disappointing indeed but at the end of the day we should not be held ransom by any club. He was valued at $20 million then after some good games with us they now want $30 mill? The irony of it all is that they don’t want to play him and are happy to pay his $100k pw wages and let him wallow in the under 23’s until his contract expires in 2-3 years. Obviously they have more money than sense and are pig headed or maybe both. Back to our situation though I believe Sakho is worth that but unfortunately we need 3 to 4 more players to strengthen our squad and this was highlighted last season after a few injuries as we didn’t have Souare, Wickham, Remy, Dann, Mandanda Cabaye, MacArthur & Tompkins for long periods and never had anyone to cover for those losses. Players such as Campbell, Mutch, Ledley, Lee, Delaney and even Hennessey are not up to it hence we either buy Sakho and keep the others as we don’t have any more money or buy 3 to 4 decent players. I love Sakho and what he did for us but prefer the second option, unless of course the owners decide to splash the cash and do both?

Jeano I have revisited my last posting and think it is time to splash the cash and get Sakho for $30mill. Why the change? We have now signed 2 players with Adrian a possibility and as long as we don’t lose anyone (players of the Cabaye ilk) we really do not need any more as it looks like Frank will play our youngsters, with both Bacary Sakho and Jordan Mutch seeming to be having a new lease of life. This along with both Souare and Wickham back from injury really gives us 2 new players. I am thinking that maybe this whole exercise has been about getting Liverpool to drop their price but as this is not happening let’s get Sakho who is a proven performer with us rather than 2 or 3 defenders who would cost the same combined and may not prove to be any good. Then again Sakho in my opinion is worth 2 defenders and a keeper, he made Henessey look decent when he played along side him. Get Sakho!!

As much as I like Sakho, 8 games and a 50% hike in price is not a good deal, plus we also have to consider our new formation… Perhaps he’s not a back 3 type of player… I do like the two new additions, both young, quick and both can play in more than one position, and this will be important when injuries come and things are moved around to suit formation with available players.. this is something we have suffered from in the past, especially in defense.. how long were we without a left back?.. With Soare back and both schlupp and van Aanholt also good in defense and down the flanks, we do have the option of pushing Townsend on the right and zaha through the centre.

What was also telling was De Boer saying we are playing 343 because we already know how to play 442… To me, it looks like this… when we are playing teams outside the top 6-7 we should be able to open them up with 343. when we are playing teams that can outclass us, we play 442 with fast counter attacking footie… What I hope we don’t see is the Pardew mentality of same people same formation no matter if it;s home or away or who you are playing… I think De Boer is better than that…

I want Sakho, he was only with us a while but he was a leader barking out orders.. Every good team needs a leader and he was that even by example. The money bothers me but with him we would not be down worrying about wages. I think something will happen, Parish has put us here no longer a Millwall Charlton or a Fulham.
