This game could be a toil but we can and should beat these (need too after dropping points in our first game) but Moscow did too, drawing with Maribor
1-1.We last played this lot 15 years ago in the Champions League Group One Phase beating them 8-1 over the two matches. Team that started in Moscow was: Dudek, Hyypia, Riise, Carragher, Traoré, Murphy, Hamann, Diao, Baros, Heskey and Owen.
Moscow played with a 352 against Maribor and are very top heavy team regarding midfielders so expect a tight, scrappy game in that area but having Mane back in the team will give them problems. I expect TAA to come in for Gomez at RB and Sturridge and AOC to start also. Moscow are missing Promes (top scorer) which is a huge boost for us.
Moscow aren’t having a great season with 3 wins from their opening 11 games and, like us, are dodgy at the back so there’s gonna be opportunities just like they will have with us.
I think we’re gonna grind out a 1-0 win (Sturridge).
September 24, 2017 at 8:53 pm #1536147Not a great place to go but I’m expecting us really to push on now. Be a tough game but I think we will win with the pace we have. Would like to see sturridge start and firmino rested
September 25, 2017 at 5:03 am #15361692 teams with dodgy defence. 5-4 win to us 😀
September 25, 2017 at 6:33 am #1536173Again I’ll go for a win to us and actually think of it clicks we could get 2 or 3. Again as said in a couple of posts, I’d go 4231 and change shape with a trio of Mane, Couthino and Salah behind Sturridge but I think Firmino will get the nod.
September 25, 2017 at 8:21 am #1536203Bob, sturridge needs a proper chance. He needs a run of games so he can start getting a proper chnace of scoring goals.10,30, mins here and there and the odd game is not a proper chance
September 25, 2017 at 8:25 am #1536204Not sure about this game Klopp was a little too happy after the Leicester game like it was all going to be ok. I am hoping for a comfortable win! & a clean sheet!
September 25, 2017 at 9:22 am #1536226I imagine Karius, TAA, Mané all to come back in to start this game.
Perhaps a start for Sturridge but Firminos work rate/tackling etc may edge it away from home.
I’d start Robbo but Klopp may go for Moreno again.September 25, 2017 at 12:43 pm #1536370Can be a nightmare of a place to go so I’m afraid the usual optimism could be a bit misplaced. That said they struggled against Maribor so you never know. Three points would be very welcome but, as usual with us, there are no guarantees.
September 26, 2017 at 10:07 am #1536710I really hope klopp will play salah mane firmino and coutinho tonight. On paper that front four looks frightening . Im curious to see how they do
September 26, 2017 at 3:11 pm #1536899I don’t want to see Karius in goal tonight but if he is, I’ll support him. I expect us to win tonight if I’m honest. We’re far enough into the season that we’ve got no excuse for anything but a win. yes it’s tough to go to Russia etc. . but there are 11 men on the pitch in the end of the day and ours are meant to be of a much higher standard.
2-0, maybe even 3-0 to us if our defence don’t fuck it up. We’ve got an amazing attack that should be too good for their apparently poor defence. I mean, they are too good for any defence in the world, on their day (which is most days).
September 26, 2017 at 3:22 pm #1536910If we don’t beat teams like this we don’t deserve to get out of the group stages. 1-2 victory for us.
September 26, 2017 at 3:32 pm #15369143-0 win to us
September 26, 2017 at 4:19 pm #1536942Fancy us to win by a 2 goal margin. Clean sheet would be nice, but don’t expect one.
September 26, 2017 at 4:19 pm #1536943Dead right Aussie and thats why I was so upset with the first result.
September 26, 2017 at 4:36 pm #1536951Mikus these clean sheets you speak of, I’ve heard of them also, would be great to experience one.
Mak: yeah mate especially home, you’ve got to win those in the C/L. I think Sevilla are a bit better than Spartak (no disrespect intended) but I can never see us keeping a clean sheet so a lot will depend on how they set up. I’d be pretty disappointed if we don’t get the cookies here though.September 26, 2017 at 6:54 pm #1536978Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Matip, Moreno, Henderson, Can, Coutinho, Salah, Mane, Firmino.
Subs: Mignolet, Flanagan, Klavan, Milner, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sturridge.
September 26, 2017 at 6:55 pm #1536981This is about the strongest team we’ve been able to put out so far this season.
Should be very interesting to see Mane, Salah, Firmino and Coutinho all attack together.
Decent bench too.
Still to add Clyne and Lallana to this squad.September 26, 2017 at 7:13 pm #1536988Indeed Ginger. Klopp will likely instruct Henderson to sit in front of the back four and push Can on to support Coutinho to make a 3-1-3-3 with the ball.
September 26, 2017 at 7:19 pm #1536989Some balls playing that team away from home in cl. I love it.
They are missing their best attacket aswell
September 26, 2017 at 7:19 pm #1536990We just have to keep it together at the back
