Why’s Hazard not starting? Injured, ill, being rested? And Willian puts us 1 up with a delightful free-kick.

Costa up to his old shit again. Descent. Looking for cards rather than goals. Stopping play by not passing. It must be a nightmare for the other players atm with him. On current form costa is very replacable and lukaku would be much better

From what I read it seems that Hazard suffered a muscle injury on Monday from the ManU tackling…?

Regardless the boys did good. Bit wasteful again from the reports but hit the woodwork at least twice and their keeper made some fantastic saves

Stoke always make it difficult for us but a massive 3 points in the context of the EPL which just puts more pressure on the chasers with Arsenal already dropping 3 points

    Great result. KTBFFH

Two really tough physical games , no Hazard and a questionable penalty at a ground where we had lost in 2 of our last 3 visits this one could even well be season defining. Let’s hope so eh!

All true 1905 although I think we can pretty much rule Arsenal out of the title race now being 19 points behind us with 11 games left for them to play.

    Fantastic three points
But what is Costa all about, you would never think he was playing for a team about to win the Pl,

Cheers nine, will request via James. Football related….I think that’s the title mate. It would take a footballing collapse of Everest proportions to stop us now. Toughest game for us left…Everton away. They’re making a late charge for top 4. Lukaku playing for a big move perhaps.

Costa is a distinct liability now.You would’ve thought with us inching closer to the title why is he trying to throw a spanner in the works with his antics?.He must be trying his utmost to make it impossible for us to keep him and wants to force his departure out of the club in the summer.A dangerous game he’s playing gambling that with that 10…er sorry 13 points ahead we have enough latitude to withstand is ‘want away antics’ without jeopardising our quest for the title!.Gone right off him, despicable fellow…he’s got to go!.With Costa focussed to the cause there’s no one better but right now he’s making it patently obvious he doesn’t want to be here.I say drop the prat and put Batshuayi in from mow till season end. It’s a no-brainer,Conte has no choice here imo

He has never been the same since January, the non story which obviously was a story
Pretty sure conte won’t suffer him once the season is done, seriously it could not be any plainer he his engineering his way out of the club.

Agree with everyone, this is a massive win. And as we thought, it wasn’t easy. Especially without Hazard.
mtal61 & bluepylon: I completely disagree to blame Costa for anything. His play was excellent. Of course I was afraid after his booking that he would get a second booking. But he was excellent, he held the first ball so well and passed it to Willian or Pedro, he refused to be “bullied” by Stoke defenders: Martins Indi, Shawcross and Bardsley, even Cameron. For me Costa gave his all, what he was supposed to do.

Stoke (I did not see our match against Man Utd) did not want to play football, what they did was kicking our players. They tried to stay in the rules, but look at the bookings and later the red card.

Agree on costa. he wont be here next season. 100% not. HE wants out and its more than obvious, he acted like a complete chump today the amount of times he dribbled when there was a pass on. Ran down a blind alley or the ball went hnder his feet was unbelievable. The team has done well to play the second half of a season with essentially no striker. Baring in mind the west ham goal was a lucky knee in. Anyone who now disagrees isnt watching his play or even watching the right match. Its BLATENT now he wants out. Id have the sulky lukaku over him anyday

Aindro, if you read Antonio Conte’s comments on Costa’s performance today on the club site you will find that he 100% agrees with your views on Costa’s performance today.

Costa might not be here next summer who knows but it looks like he will play a big role between now and the end of the season.

999 I for one would like Costa to stay with Chelsea beyond this summer. He is a fighter. How can people expect him to be kind when he was kicked by Stoke defenders all the time? I think he played superbly today.

I am going to try and detract from my earlier post on Costa
Yesterday was the first game I have missed live for a long time (kodi not well) so was taking on board the commentary of le tissier on SS who was basically saying Costa was consistently play acting and having little impact on the game.
Watching the highlights, well let’s say last Monday it was manure on hazard and yesterday it was Stoke on Costa.
and from the highlights he played pretty well,so going to ease off and just see what the summer brings now after we win the Pl.
Oh, what a plonker mark Hughes is.
Stoke should of possibly won and Cahill should of been sent off, WTF, and had sent his team out to kick lumps out of Chelsea again, at least it wasn’t Charlie Adams this time, and to think this chump used to p,any for us, tossed.

Aindro,I saw the whole game and Costa was provoked throughout and it was obviously a pre planned tactic to try and get him sent off and there were a number of very poor tackles and not just on Costa.

Apart from the dissent he showed to the Ref early on I thought he handled it all very well and it was testimony to the work Conte has done with him in trying to control himself overall.

I thought Costa had a decent game yesterday and gave his all and Conte’s assessment of his performance is testimony of that. I don’t think he is playing quite at the same level of his performances in the first half of the season and the goals have dried up a bit but all strikers go through these kind of spells.

Conte certainly won’t be leaving him out between now and the end of the season, where it all goes from there I suspect is down to him, to stay at Chelsea he will need to extend his contract personally I would be happy to see Costa stay and for us to sign another striker to compliment him rather than replace him but if that is to be the case Lukaku is not the complimentary striker imo. Cheers 999

I understand costa was being provoked but so were all our other players but to say he played well? Not even slightly well, Conte has a duty to say that. But if he continues to play like yesterday than Micky should be considered. Its only fair if a striker is not performing. Anybody can hold up the ball it is not a difficult art. Anyway 3 great point not entirely expected.

I can’t understand all this criticism of Costa’s performance yesterday and I wonder how many of those criticising actually saw game.

Stoke clearly set out to provoke Costa who was far far far more sinned against than sinner yesterday and Costa did well in controlling himself after the initial dissent something I suspect he wouldn’t have been able to do last season.

Costa although not currently at the top of his game still had more than a half decent game imo and still put a shift in for the team albeit we do need him to get back on the goal trail asap.

Perhaps read what Conte had to say about Costa’s performance yesterday on the club site.
