exactly nine. He has had a good season so i probs more around the 60m mark now.

i really have taken no notice of any rumours latley. I believe salah will sign soon and thats a good start

The only way we would have any chance of signing the like of aumymang etc would be if we were getting top 4 regulary and winning trophies.

Sean, I disagree. We’re a club that’s seen to be going places under one of the worlds biggest managers. It’s well known that Aubameyang has his sights set on Real and all the CL football in the world wouldn’t improve our position in getting him over them but aside from finances, we can compete with Man City in terms of draw power, VVD being case in point.

The rumours have been nuts alright and all this talk of Aubameyang means nothing because we’re not after him. If we were though, I’d say we would give City a run for their money in securing him and it’s been a long time since I’ve thought that.

we havent signed vvd though mr mak?when we sign a player that other clubs are competing for and then i can see your point.

are we really going to attract the top world class that talant that other clubs are looking for?

when we sign a truly world class player then i will believe the tide has chnaged. we just need to make that one top signing and i dont believe that will happen until we are regulary in the top 4 and winning trophies again

Damn! Looks like were paying up to 40m for Salah. He does look good to be honest, very much like my player of the year Mane. Strong, fast, good passing and able to wriggle in and out of tight spaces.

However, 40m says a lot about how much Klopp wanted him and how good our negotiation skills must be considering BBC initially said our opening bid was 28m. On this basis we will need 120m for VVD 😉

If we do have to eventually fork out 40 million, it would mean that Salah would have been performing well for us as some of the fee is performance base.

Finally, it only took 3 years to get our man…
When was the last time we had two good wingers at the club? Berger & McManaman?

Salah should add at least another 10 goals to the team, we are in for some good football.

The fee is likely to be around £35million

Only problem with Salah is the AFCON. Both Mane and Salah will be unavailable. We fell apart as soon as Mane left. If Salah becomes just as important Klopp will need a backup plan.

Hopefully, the like of Seye Ojo and other kids can rise up despite Salah signing. It will be difficult for the kids but Klopp has always been a manager that has backed young players, but if he CANT get our academy players to step up and become able backups then it probably says a lot about how hard it is for kids to thrive in the premiership and/or the low quality of our academy itself.

£35mil plus £4mil in add ons.
So basically we’ve spent weeks haggling over how we were gonna pay £4mil.
I’m just glad it’s being done.

Sean my point isn’t made or broken on us completing the VVD deal. The fact is, he chose us over City and it’s the draw power that I’m talking about, as we still can not and never will (as things are) be able to compete with City, financially. I’m not seeing us regularly competing with the big boys for a number of reasons. This was going ahead because VVD was our number 1 target.

I too would love to have seen the deal go through but it’s only failed for reasons that are external to this specific discussion. So much talk has been made of the mistakes made etc but I think a large amount of it is just down to Southampton being sick to death of us turning their players heads. We can joke about this but were it the other way around. . .

As doe the Salah deal, it’s really strange to hear people talking about 39-40m and TBH, I’m not believing it. We had a really strong negotiating position and we didn’t use it? No way. It’s got to be £35m all in, surely. . . but it’s good to have it done. I’ll have to get every single video I can of this guy now to see if I spot anything that excites me a lot more than what i saw before. . but Klopp really wanted to sign him , so he must be good.

2 top wingers will be lethal. I’m not thinking about AFCON, I’m sure we’ll have both players get injured and be out before then. . We’ve bigger things to think about than bloody AFCON.

    Holy shit.

    http://www.skysports.com/football/news/33855/10878880/leipzig-set-to-miss-out-on-europe

Now, this is terrible for them. . . but think about it. The players have likely been kept calm in order to continue the project there now that they are in the CL.

This is going to be absolutely huge in determining if we can get Keita or Fosberg, or whoever we’re after from that team, this summer. Huge.

Bingo, and no two ordinary wingers. Mane and Salah are both in the top bracket of fastest players in world football.

But AFCON does start to look more and more of a problem, we might even need to sign another quality winger in this transfer window.

Galls me to think of a rumour going around that Chelsea only signed Salah just to push us away from signing him. I don’t like to think that was the real reason Chelsea bought him but wouldn’t be surprised if it was true…But maybe we should be philosophical about it, he may not have been good enough if we had signed him at that time. The time he spent away at Italy has helped him a lot.

Very happy with the Salah deal!! Gutted when we didn’t get him ahead of Chelsea in 2014 but he’s a much better player now.

Only problem is him and Mane will both be gone for African Cup of Nations, potentially ?

Now let’s finally get a left back please…

Agreed Redwing a left back is a major priority. I seen an article on news site that Milner will persist, I hope to god its not true, he did an admiral job last year but its time for a real left back…It might not be a sexy signing such as Salah but a decent full back can make our attack (and of course defence) much better!

Is the AFCON every year? Surely we don’t have to worry till Jan 2019?
