So Leipzig has rejected a 66m bid for Keita. If thats true, i cant see this transfer happening. Time to look for other targets.

Kevin Stewart reportedly going to Hull for roughly £8mil effectively wiping out what we’ll pay for Robertson.
    Good deal.

Kevin Stewart has flown home from Liverpool’s tour of Hong Kong after the club agreed an £8million deal with Hull City.

That’s a great deal for Stewart. Refsforever if that’s true then we need to look at someone else. They really don’t want to sell so let’s forget it. Huge pity.

I wonder when is the cut off time for us to walk away from the keita deal if leipzig keep rejecting bids.

It would be a shame if we missed out on our main targets but the club have to at some point move on to other targets. It would be nice if we got most of our business done by the end of JULY

Will there be a buy back clause in the Stewart move? Thought he was rated by Klopp?

If they reject 66 million I can’t imagine them accepting 70. I just hope we have some serious alternatives lined up, especially for cb. We struggled with squad depth last season without European involvement so reinforcements are essential. Hopefully Klopp’s laid back attitude is a tactic, although it’s looking a bit casual right now.

Its a shame we wont get Keita but im not that worried. With £66m im sure we be able to get a CM that can improve our 1st 11

Minus, I doubt it and I would not say he was rated at the club, I can’t remember a player getting less game time than Stewart.

nediarab, ye its not the money. They just dont want to sell so its time to move on.

resforver, from what ive seen off keita i dont think there is anyone else around who is better. He would have been a perfect fit.

Sean, i read the other day statistically keita is one of the best Cms in europe so ure probably right we wont get anyone better. But i think we can get a CM better than our current ones.

I tried to make a post earlier but it seems to have failed. I don’t feel like writing it all out again but it was basically about some comments from Klopp recently about how he thinks we have the squad right now to compete in all competitions. he remarked that maybe the squad might be the same now as it will be in the end of August but then said that “we might sell a few” or something like that. .

I hope this isn’t a case of us not getting our targets , so we stop and go with what we have, because we need quality additions and although it’s great to have Sallah and the other 2 (assuming Robertson goes through), that is nowhere near enough.

Klopp did talk about needing to look at others at some stage too, so I hope that’s just Klopp making a point to RB and Southampton but I see now that Wijnaldum has come out with a comments along similar lines. he thinks that we can challenge for the PL with the squad that we have now. I might have agreed with him last November and during the January transfer window I went on and on about how much of a difference getting that LW would make for us. . but that’s different when you’re looking at it from the perspective of a summer window. I always consider the Jan window to be for tweaking and not building.

This window now is where we’re meant to be building for an entire season that now includes (hopefully etc) a CL campaign. I wouldn’t want to head into a similar season as last with what we have, never mind the addition of Europe, so I am starting to get a little nervous about the messages coming from LFC.

Reds – for £65m you’d want to be getting one of the top performers in that position for last season, especially given how he was pretty unknown before that. the thing is though, given that RB have actually rejected such a high bid, what is stopping us from going after another player who may actually be “better” than him? RB genuinely do not want to sell but for that money, I’m sure we could find a club with a top player who would both be willing to talk to us. I’m not as clued up as others on here as to who we might look to get but £65m would open a lot of doors and I’m sure we wouldn’t even have to “settle” at that price tag.

    I don’t think it’s over yet.
I believe we will go above and beyond to get Kieta, or at least try.

there is no doubt we are doing everything to get him ginger but i think we can offer as much as we like and they wont budge unless keita hands in a transfer

Mrmak, for 66m we can definitely get a very very good CM. Maybe thats why klopp looks so relaxed. He knows we’re flush with cash.

Liverpool’s Ambition Must Match The Elite

IMO it as time for LFC to take that big step up in quality & this seems to be the clubs target with the transfer targets. We cant make the mistake of past post CL qualification windows it is time to take the first team to consistent premiere league contenders. So the question is now what do we do if clubs are not willing to sell? The one thing we cant do is go out & buy mediocre second choice players or even players with potential. The time is now the club needs quality over quantity.

The figure bandied about a few weeks ago was £70mil.
We have yet to meet that valuation.
If they turn down that then I’ll start thinking that it’s over and even then we may offer more.
Klopp really really wants this lad.
