Roman, great post mate.
It’s a massive jump from the U21’s/ being a Chelsea loan player and the majority will falter but they have a chance you need a Manager that will give young players an opportunity and Conte seems to be trying to do that to a greater extent than the majority before him but Christensen has managed and that should give hope and motivation to those that follow him.
Whoever is the Manager for next season the young players will have their chance to make their case in the pre season those that impress the Manager have a chance of bring in the squad and from there it’s up to them hand on heart despite his obvious talents I don’t think RLC for instance took the chances offered to him bags of talent but has he got the mentality for a team like Chelsea. I’m sure he will get another chance in the Summer.
Tammy I saw a lot of last Season given that we live in Sunny Somerset and from what I saw of him he’s got a great mentality and a great attitude and combined with his obvious football talents I think that gives him a real chance at Chelsea.March 8, 2018 at 2:18 pm #1609174

But as always time will be the judge of them all.March 8, 2018 at 2:24 pm #1609180March 8, 2018 at 2:40 pm #1609186
Phwepsi… that’s certainly one way of interpreting things, but don’t forget, Swansea also resigned Wilfred bony currently injured I believe, and ayew has also been injured and as 1905 rightly points out they’ve had a change of manager. Tammy has had to lead a line in a weak side when asked to do so.
Tammy led the line, got on the scoresheets early on, and don’t forget that clement couldn’t get Sanchez’s head right either. Loss of form should be expected, but to write him off is going a little far right now.
To put it into a perspective Burnley signed a striker from the championship who struggled in wood. Again he’s been injured but scored goals at championship level.
Gayle of Newcastle is another who scored loads last year and has struggled this season. To be fair, most strikers have struggled this season bar sterling (winger) Jesus early season form, Kane and ageuro and salah – England international Jamie Vardy is light on goals going into a World Cup three months from now. Both lukaku and morata have struggled following their moves…
Defence is king this year and even Troy deeney is having a poor season. So it’s not just abrahams who has struggled this year. Stick Tammy in this Chelsea side and I reckon he’d get goals. He is to me a poacher. Lots of pace and will finish and mop up in the box. His hold up play is probably all I would question.
I don’t think he’ll become prolific, but given how the club spent 20 million on led legs giroud then perhaps we can save ourselves 20 million in the next 18 months by giving a little time and patience to a very bright prospect. Hope he doesn’t go down the Carlton Cole route… and that is probably what we should look out for. If he is to be loaned out again I’d be sending him to Italy…March 8, 2018 at 2:40 pm #1609187
Wtf is that link doing on this threadMarch 8, 2018 at 2:46 pm #1609193
RDP – good post but statistics can be used to support any argument that you want
I would argue that the fact that Tammy is not getting much game time is because he is not impressing the new manager. What is more than encouraging is that when he does get the chance he is actually trying to take it and make an impression (as per your stats)
As for the start of the year, we knew that Tammy could not return (which I think is the point you were trying to make) and as Michy was not impressing either we were looking for likely replacements so both names were being bandied about and if both were fit they looked better prospects than Michy did
As for Giroud, he is an experienced player used to playing in the EPL so for me that he has been a decent buy given the circumstances that we were facing. KTBFFHMarch 8, 2018 at 2:53 pm #1609202
RDP @ 2:40 – in my posts I have not written off Tammy and again you make decent points about strikers struggling and yet city and Liverpool are scoring freely…
IMO, the management change for Tammy was a big issue as I am sure that we used our Chelsea connections to ensure good playing time and a decent amount of games – so was the perspective of the manager not totally focussed because obviously the new man sees it differently
Good point about Sanchez but again even the new man has not going him performing so possibly that is more down to the player (and again did he come for Clement in the first place as well and now cannot be bothered…?)
I am optimistic that Tammy will be here for the pre season and I just hope he gets a fair crack at the whip. My ideal would be to have Drogs join the Club as a coach for the strikers as I feel that Tammy could learn a lot from him. KTBFFHMarch 8, 2018 at 3:58 pm #1609231
SO what would people want then?
Bring tammy back and have morata giroud michy and tammy as strikers?
To me that is pathetic. Not one is world class or anywhere near. All back-up strikers.
Personally i would sell michy and go for a top top striker then loan tammy again

1905… difference between city Liverpool and us is the result-emergence of jose’s anti football particle machine. They attack and contes tactics suck the moral, form and enjoyment out of the players and the fans… this season has killed any long term hope I had about conte. Can’t even be bothered to listen to the spoilt brat anymore. 10 million a year and the man just can’t stop moaning. God forbid we get another year of him.March 9, 2018 at 9:02 am #1609432
I see some people are down grading Abrahams already even though he had had injury problems and changes to their staff, well I saw Bats play last night and he was terrible I think he was take off early in the game.March 9, 2018 at 10:08 am #1609487
NN, good points re Tammy.March 9, 2018 at 10:32 am #1609512
notnice – did not see the game but notice (no pun intended…!!) that he did not score again
wonder if that early burst was simply new team/new manager syndrome…? KTBFFHMarch 9, 2018 at 10:34 am #1609515
RDP – totally agree that I do not like the negative approach to football or the constant moaning and why we are light years away from what we were last season. Roman has always been rumoured to be a fan of Barca and their “total” football so I do not think he would be too impressed either. KTBFFHMarch 9, 2018 at 10:39 am #1609517
phwepsi – my feeling is the manager gets a chance in pre-season to see Morata, Giroud, Michy and Tammy first hand
For me, Giroud was a short term quick fix and although that could extend into next season it does not have to. Morata is the younger player who has great potential but possibly needs someone alongside him rather than acting as a target man but I feel we must keep faith with him. Tammy is young, has potential and therefore deserves as much of a chance as possible so I would keep him as well. Michy is my unknown factor and unless he improves he is the one that can go and for whom we would probably get the most money
We then look for another striker but the big question is whether that is to play as the lone striker role and usurp Morata or a different type of player to compliment Morata?
And in my mind that decision will be determined by the manager and the formation that want to play. KTBFFHMarch 14, 2018 at 2:08 pm #1612204
Spanish press reporting that Chelsea are favourites to sign Asensio???March 15, 2018 at 8:21 am #1612520
Watched the pundits after last nights game and both Frank and Rio stated quite clearly how much the game is changing and evolving and that big investment is required/expected of any club with intentions to compete virtually every season
Frank was clear that Chelsea had not invested enough, and although losing to Barca carries no great shame, the English contingent as a whole have fell short with only 2 clubs remaining when most expected at least 4 (most felt we had the toughest draw and would go out)
Assuming that Frank has some kind of input at the Club then I assume this is the kind of advice he will be passing on but it should also be noted that spending millions alone will not solve all problems as the money has to be spent wisely (BTW – he did not rule out Conte staying either). Think we need a big clear out in the summer. Hazard will probably go, Courtois, Fabregas, Cahill, Pedro and Giroud should all be shipped out. Think Luiz will go as well, which make me a bit sad. Love watching him play. When he’s good, he’s REALLY good and he’s quite a character. Finishing in the top 4 is vital in terms of attracting players from the top . Jan Oblak would be my main target as gk, we strengthening in defense, midfield and up front as well. I still believe Morata will come good, but I see no room for Giroud. We desperately need someone who can turn chances into goals. Also, a change in management is needed. Next thing, is to have the team playing in a style that suits all players. At present, we rely heavily on the individual brilliance of Hazard and Willian. The rest, bar Kante, are way behind in quality.March 15, 2018 at 10:08 am #1612624
TOtally agree. We need a huge summer. This could define the next few years get it wrong and we could end up even behind arsenal. But nothing suggests to me that we will so this. Its going to be another pathetic shit show buying average squad fillers. Everyone knows what we need apart from the board.
Also world cup is on so its almost impossible to buy players and ontop of that the window shuts early in the summer!!March 15, 2018 at 10:30 am #1612632
good advice here by everyone I hope that we will start afresh next season with some quality signings, some quality youth and probably a new manager. Of all the players mentioned above I hope Hazard stays even though lately his not been that good. Personally I would like Courtois, Fabregas, Cahill, Pedro and Giroud to be shipped out as mentioned here. Also Cahill, Moses and Alonso are defensively suspect. So a lot of rebuilding to do. We must try our best to keep the likes of Hazard, Kante, Willian.March 15, 2018 at 11:07 am #1612668
Reality check here, you cannot have a mass clear out, it would take far too long for a new team to gel , and this is where we have been getting it wrong for so long. Since Jose won the league, Kante has been our only quality purchase unlike our competitors who have been spending and adding season after season.
Yes we need to off load, Fabregas, Crappyoko, would be top of my list, Cahill and Luiz.
Hazard and Cortouis may sign new contracts as on last night’s performances they have moved down Reals list!
Hazard reminds me of Robben, fades in seasons that end in even numbers 15/16 or 17/18 or for those slow on the uptake International Tournament Seasons.
People here calling for Pedro to go, to me it depends on the type of striker we sign, if we keep Morata and Giroud then yes let him go, but if we sign a striker who can move off the ball, hold the ball up then you keep the Hazards, Pedros and Williams all day long. If its target men or guys who can only score with their heads then the three mentioned are wasted, and to me that has become more and more apparent recently and again emphasises why the DoF and first team coach have to work hand in hand.
We need a quality Centre Back, world class midfielder, and a world class striker next season. Also bring back RLC & Tammy to get our home grown quota up.
