Even if Keita costs above 30m, no problem, as he has the talent to justify that price.

So many were complaining when Liverpool spent 34m on Mane last summer, you won’t hear anybody complaining now

Songman, I guess it all depends on Leipzig agreeing to sell Keita and who and how many come in for him.

“Well North of £30m” is probably:a bit more than £34m how much would you be happy for Liverpool to pay for him?

For instance he’s been described as a Kante plus a bit I would conservatively suggest that Kante is probably worth circa £60m now perhaps even more would you be happy for Liverpool to pay say £60m for Keita?

I think Coutinho is an important cog in our system. When he first joined I and many other wondered whether he could adapt to the physicality of the league and would he ever break out of being the luxury player that he initially started out as. But years have gone by and he has adapted really well, last year I saw an aggressive Coutinho, snapping at players when he didn’t have the ball and using his strength to hold other off when in position.

Coutinho has that ‘next level’ skill that most players don’t have, he offers unpredictability that most other players don’t have. We cant afford to sell him becasue if we do there aren’t that many players that you could easily replace him with. Also the fact that he has become Brazil’s first choice should not go unnoticed either. If Pogba is worth 89 million then Coutinho should at least be valued at that price range as well.

I’m also hearing were interested in replacing Clyne but it’s not a priority.
Ricardo Pereira has been looked at who can play right and left back.

999, considering Keita is one of the top midfielders in Bundesliga, a price btw £30m and £40m would seem about right.

But at the moment it is all rumours, so no point speculating about the price until a deal is on the cards, and we see what price is quoted

About Naby Keita, it is a no-brainer. An experienced young top class midfielder in Europe at the price around 30 or 40 M. Don’t forget the price of Pobga. Yes, personally think that Naby Keita is in the same calibre of Pobga if not a notch above.

Only flaw of Keita is we will lose the player in Jan. every other season due to Africa Cup. No matter Klopp plays him as a defensive midfield (positon of his early football career) or a box to box midfielder, he can improve our starting line up, improve the team, not just the squad.

My only worry is : Can we sign him?

Songman, fair enough mate as you rightly say it’s currently all rumours re Keita and difficult to judge what the Keita price may be if Leipzig do agree to sell him.

“Mr Mak, if a player is a game-changer like Keita, and can help you win Premiership or CL, then he is worth buying”

You won’t win the PL unless you address the problem positions and if you want to replace Lallana or Wijnaldum with an expensive signing, that is maybe strengthening an already strong area and leaving some serious weaknesses as they are. I don’t see the logic in that unless this strengthening is OUT OF THIS WORLD good. I’m not against s signing a top player, I’m just making a point that we have problems to fix. If you have an old car that won’t go into gear, you don’t spend all your money making the engine more efficient.

As for Keita, the guys loves to burst forward with the ball. He’ll run as far as he can and take the shot if he can, what will Mane be doing as this guy is running with the ball? He won’t be dazzling us with his own runs anyway.

999 – £60m is pretty conservative for Kante alright. He’s definitely worth over £100m.

Mr Mak, who said that by signing Keita, for example, that we will not strengthen our problem areas also??? And it is fairly obvious that if we get CL, we have to significantly strengthen and deepen our squad, as we will be in 4 competitions plus to account for our horrendous injury record.

It is well known by fans and management that the problem areas have to be addressed this summer, namely left-back, centre-back, striker, defensive midfielder, and I am certain they will be.

But we also have to sign enigmantic players who can take us up to a whole new level e.g. the way Mane, Ibrahimovic and Kante have done this season. Keita is another example and I would definitely sign him if given the chance.

Don’t worry where Keita will fit in, leave that to Klopp as he knows best of all. And what’s wrong with having 2 rampant players (Mane and Keita) running at our opponents, surely that will make Liverpool even stronger, or can you not see this?

I thought players would never reach the 100 million mark? It’s only 2 months since I saw every argument for transfer fees that high rebuffed… lol

Bingo, once Pogba went for £89m it was merely a matter of time before we saw £100m but there are very few players currently in the PL who would fetch £100m.

999 – on the Keita price I don’t think we necessarily need to say he will cost the same as Kante. I read some comments of yours in recent days about Kante not being a ‘Top Top’ player before he joined Chelsea. On the assumption Kante is now valued at £60m + in your eyes does that mean that you see him as a ‘top top’ player because he joined a bigger club? He isn’t a different player this year to what he was last year (proved by the fact he was in team of the year etc and viewed as a great signing, despite not being rated as a ‘top top’ player). If ‘top top’ is achieved by joining a big club and having an impact at the big club, as Kante has done this year, then it’d stand to reason that Keita (currently at a smaller club) hasn’t yet broken into that ‘top top’category either and would therefore not attract the same transfer value as Kante.

bingo the £100mil discussion was on Emre Can’s transfer value in 5 years time. We had that discussion earlier this season – this summer there will be 4 years remaining for you to be proved right in your call that he will be a £100mil player within that time frame. Let’s see if an offer comes in for him in the summer and what the value of that offer is.

I would love Keita at the club as he is one exciting prospect, he is not a ready made player like Kante who has medals to his name. I doubt Keita would cost more than 25 million. Kante likely to cost triple that.

Keita IMO would compete with Wijnaldum for a spot, or against Lallana, the one thing we can fault Wijnaldum for is his dribbling, while Keita could give us the outlet we need on the counter.

Keita would fit Klopp’s gegenpressing style well, and looks a skillful player.

I still think we have bigger priorities in the squad, we already have a few good options in that position, but he would be a terrific signing.

People have to remember we are gonna be competing in 4 competitions next year.
Hopefully every weekend and Wed night.
That’s gonna take a strong squad
Also certain players will suit certain opposition. Certain players will be better for home matches and others for away. Undoubtedly there will be injuries too. Some minor, some more serious.
We need the players to cope with these rigours. It’s been a failing of ours for many years now and hopefully Klopp is taking strides to rectify that.
