red herring, i like charlie taylor annd Tierney from celtic better then Robertson but thats just my opinion mate
May 16, 2017 at 2:22 pm #1481178Bingo. Finnan ” No nonsense reliable full back”
He was also very good offensively his crosses from the right were excellent, he was noted for them.
May 16, 2017 at 2:31 pm #1481184think we need to look at attacking ability as well rather than getting a solid full back this summer, Clyne doesn’t contribute much going forward, Milner links up well but he always has to cut in or move the ball to his right so he doesn’t really contribute how a full back should… I know people say defending comes first for full backs but when we play a 433 with the two wide players drifting in more often than not we need fullbacks to provide width, same applies for the diamond formation as well …
May 16, 2017 at 2:38 pm #1481193Yes, of course, Robertson would be backup, I don’t see the sense in buying him unless Milner is first choice.
He is just one name of the thirty leftbacks that have been rumored to be on their way.
Plenty of better options out there…
May 16, 2017 at 2:45 pm #1481201Watched Roma and Juve last night and two players that stood out were Paredes and Salah. The latter has so much pace it’s wrong. Very direct and aggressive. He and Mane and our number 7 position is filled!
May 16, 2017 at 2:46 pm #1481202Sean, yes, I have given flagged up Tierney in the past as well – think he would be a good acquisition. Tierney looks to have a bit more x-factor, but Robertson is a bit older/experienced and has been tried and tested in the PL. Can’t say for sure which one would be the better buy – if, indeed, we go for either. Robertson would be easier to prise away following Hull’s relegation as I can see Celtic doing everything possible to hold on to their squad as their challenge now is to prove themselves in Europe as the domestic challenge has become fairly non-existent.
May 16, 2017 at 2:48 pm #1481207Rob would you prefer Salah over Inaki?
May 16, 2017 at 3:10 pm #1481223I got to see Robertson live this season, I managed to get a box seat in the kcom stadium surrounded by hull fans where we got beat 2-0 I think it was. We were awful that day but even now thinking back Robertson had a great game against us down the left, good cross on him, up and down the pitch with pace and ability to go past a player. He would be an improvement over current options I think.
May 16, 2017 at 3:34 pm #1481238Lyon’s chairman has said that there’s been an offer for lacazette and he’ll leave if the price is right… I am guessing it will be 50 million or close, this is the guy we need and it seems he’s gettable and we should definitely be able to afford that fee… he previously said he wants to go to a club playing in the Champions league and who play good football(we can manage that on a good day can’t we?)
May 16, 2017 at 3:47 pm #1481243Nocturnal, I’ve championed Lacazette for some time now and worth breaking the bank for if the opportunity arises. Pace, talent and can score.
May 16, 2017 at 4:02 pm #1481253Rob this is our best opportunity, I don’t see any ‘big money’ clubs coming for him… the likes of Dortmund/Atletico will probably look at him as a replacement if they lose griezman/Auba but I think we can snatch him up if our intent is do so
May 16, 2017 at 4:53 pm #1481287Nocturnal, Lyon are in limbo and won’t be challenging PSG or Monaco for some time so now may be a great opp to make a big offer for him and let them rebuild with the proceeds. A left back, Virgil, a winger (Salah, Brandt) and Lacazette and we’ll be alreet. Piece of piss this transfer malarkey!
May 16, 2017 at 5:32 pm #1481304lol Rob if only FSG made you DOF
May 16, 2017 at 7:08 pm #1481340Rob Salah is a good player although there are other options there as well. I would be happy if we managed to get him. Mane, him with Couthino pulling the strings from the middle and another striker. Like you I like lacazzette
May 16, 2017 at 8:00 pm #1481365Is Lacazette not going to Atletico to replace Greizman?
May 16, 2017 at 9:15 pm #1481412Haha Rob has the summer all mapped out! Just gotta get the message to the men with the fax machines… 🙂
May 17, 2017 at 8:34 am #1481539ginger he possibly will, but right now the links I am seeing for him are only with Arsenal, and if we get top 4 we have a decent chance of signing him ahead of them or anyone else
May 17, 2017 at 8:41 am #1481541Lacazette has said he will only move to a CL club so Arsenal could soon be off the radar.
Arsenal are meant to be close to having a deal for Kolasanic wrapped up too on a free. I wonder if no CL will affect getting that deal done too?May 17, 2017 at 9:11 am #1481563We were also linked with a pacy dutch winger Promes in january. I looked him up in youtube (i know not reliable etc) seems like a good player. Very quick and skilful.
May 17, 2017 at 3:09 pm #1481862This has come up on the thread so thought you all may like a good read. I found it interesting and depending on results we could end up seeded for the champs league qualifier assuming we beat Middlesbrough of course
