adama traore is very quick and his only strength is speed and is strong on his feet – he does not have a good vision of the play and his assist rate is nearly nil.

Allan st maximin is a better player (Monaco player currently on loan playing for Bastia -French league).

He will come cheap as Mbappe/lemar/Silva are the first string players at Monaco.

Lad is still young, very pacey, score goals and can make assists.

Haha good one AK! Would love Sanchez, wish we had bought him when we lost Saurez, another Liverpool recruitment failing, was Gerrard asleep then too?

Have to say I’ve a bit of sympathy for Monaco, granted their owner might want to cash on his players but maybe he would like to keep the core of his team to win something big. All the big clubs are circling around the principaute, wouldn’t it be better if each team produced their own Mbappe in their academy?

Monaco are in line with their strategy.
Sympathy – the club in terms of transfer moves, they’re way ahead of us.
They have the best recruitment cell/scouting in Europe.
When the Russians took over, the idea was to rival with PSG – where QSI(Qatari group) had bought the club. That’s why they brought in players like Falcao (who was better as he didn’t yet have that injury),James Rodrigues or Moutinho.
Then, they changed their business model and started selling out their star players and went for younger/talented players.
In terms of moneyball strategy, they’re the best in Europe.
They had a bad run last season as their right back/left back(kurzawa was sold to PSG) were not that good which they solved this season by buying Mendy and Sidibe.
They bought Glik – central defender after the Euros and he stabilised the defense with Jemerson,a guy no one heard before.
The future ain’t that bad for them as they got a competent scouting team and hat’s off to Jardim who took over from Ranieri.

Difference with Monaco is the league they play in, the EPL is a different beast & is far more competitive.

I would say Dortmund’s transfer strategy is also one of the best in Europe, looks like they are getting Mohamed Dahoud too…a lot of young talent ends up at Dortmund.

Dortmund’s strategy is very good but does not deliver sustained success they tend to sell players at peak for best return.

mwake, I’m not sure you can blame the club for not signing Sanchez the move was set up and he could have easily been part of the Suarez deal to Barca but Sanchez refused it because he didn’t want to go to Liverpool and wanted London and Arsenal.

There’s not much the club can do about that and that will always be a problem as many of the foreign stars prefer London as a location often because that’s what their families prefer.

Still don’t think we did everything we could to land Sanchez. He woulda been a fantastic replacement for Suarez.
If it was just down to location then why did Wenger have to follow him round South America convincing him to join them. We on the other hand sent no one.
One of the top players in world football was leaving us yet we wouldn’t send someone to speak to Sanchez, our no1 replacement, face to face in South America to join us.
We know how that ended up, we signed Bslotelli. And the rest they say is history.

ginger, Sanchez always made it clear he wanted play in London seemingly he is still saying that unfortunately for Liverpool and the Manchester clubs London will always be a bigger draw especially for the players families.

We never replaced him. But, we’re good at not replacing great players!

It took Wenger to do some chasing if he always had his heart set on London.

ginger, clearly London wasn’t the only reason and Sanchez is on record as saying that he was attracted to Arsenal rather than Liverpool because of Wenger and the type of football Arsenal played as well as the chance of playing with Ozil.

Additionally of course Arsenal had been consistent CL qualifiers whereas Liverpool hadn’t and playing in the CL every season ranks highly with the top players.

Be interesting to see how it all maps out with Sanchez at Arsenal now?

And what I’m saying is that we could have done more to persuade him otherwise.
Wenger went to South America to persuade him and got his man.
We were losing one of the best players on the planet and yet gave up our pursuit quite easily.

Number8wasgr8 : I wholly agree that French league is less physical than EPL but my point was that Monaco scouting system is far better than ours and teams like PSG or Monaco can offer CL football every season.

we couldn’t even attract Draxler with latter moving to PSG because of higher wages even though Klopp tried to convince him to come and play for us.

Klopp magic is not working in getting players from Germany at all bar Klavan/Karius.

I think the myth of us being a great club – only with our passion for the game, die hard supporters, wonderful stadium with the you’ll never walk alone, the wonderful comebacks is faltering.

If you were a top international player (say from spain/Germany/Italy), would you come and play for a team where you have Henderson as captain, Milner as vice capt.?

The second best player for Klopp is Lallana??? –seriously

So what are we aiming at right now???

    1. Moneyball – where all potential players we’re scouting are going elsewhere.
    2. Players preferring to move to clubs having CL football.
    3. Marquee players – we can’t even compete for a 50 million player.

Ginger, you may well be right mate or Sanchez could have already made it clear to Liverpool back then that he didn’t want to join them and it was already a lost cause, not being a regular CL club would have been a big gap tor Liverpool to bridge putting aside his own stated football issues and his families alleged desire for him to choose London etc but it’s all water well under the bridge now indeed seemingly Sanchez looks like he might now be leaving Arsenal. Cheers 999
