lool 52m for Morata, SILLY!! add Another 20 or 30 and give us Kane. i’d happily pay 80 for Kane than 52 for a benchwarmer in La Liga

Benchwarmers? Fuck me Manny, Morata may not be Mbappe but he’d walk into our side mate. For me, he’s maybe half a yard short on pace but technically he’s very good and he’s a traditional goal scoring centre forward with a very good conversion rate. 60 million? I’m afraid that’s round about the going rate these days. And Manny, of the few quality strikers available, who do you suggest as an alternative?

jm1502 – It’s not the player I have a problem with it’s the price. How can you justify bidding £52m for a player who is not even a regular in his own club’s squad? Surely if Real want more than £52m for a player who warms the bench most weeks then the price for arguably the best goalkeeper in the world is way above the £100m mark! I would pay £25m-£30m for Morata and not a penny more.

jm1502 – alternatives you could argue would be Dembele af Celtic, Aubameyang of Dortmund, Dybala of Juve or Belotti of Torino. They’d arguably be a similar price or cheaper. You could even try Dolberg as a cheaper gamble or just go full out for Mbappe or Kane or maybe even Lukaku.

MT-Dybala is NOT a striker mate, just like Griezmann.Aubameyang,Belotti,Lukaku,Kane,Mbappe-they are all going for crazy money.I agree on the price tho,why offer £52m for Morata to start with?.Dembele is too young to solely depend on for goals.

    PL targets:

Kane: Upsides: Proven PL goalscorer, good age. Downsides: Not proven himself in European football, exorbitantly expensive because of a perhaps not quite warranted reputation and the fact we’re a direct rival. He also might not want to sign at all.

Lukaku: Upsides: Proven PL goalscorer, good age, build and pace of a classic target man, would want to sign. Downsides: Not proven in European football, expensive, although not Kane expensive.

    European targets:

Mbappe: Upsides: Seems to have quality in abundance. Performed in European football as well. Downsides: Only had one good season. Could be a one-hit-wonder (not likely). Would be very expensive. Up- and downside: Very young. If he continues what he’s shown this season, it’s a plus, but a world record move to United having to be our primary source of goals at 19 might be too much.

Belotti: Upsides: Good striker, good age. Downsides: Only performed this season. Might have problems with English weather etc. Very expensive because of breakthrough season. Not proven in European football.

Dybala: Upsides: Undoubted talent. Proven in European football. Downsides: Not an out-and-out striker. Juve would be reluctant to sell, would be insanely expensive. Might not want a United switch. I know Pogba did, but after all – Dybala’s at a club that has just won Serie and played in the CL final. Also, based on stats, might not be the 30+ goal scoring machine we need.

PEA: Upsides: Good striker, faster than everyone else. Probably signable in terms of money and convincing Dortmund to let him go. Performed well 2 seasons in a row, also in Europe. Downside: Already getting up there. Turns 28 in 10 days (June 18th).

Moratta: Upsides: Good striker, good age. Seems to have all the right traits. Probably signable for human money. Downsides: At the bench at Real. Not really had a breakthrough season. First ever season where he reached 20 goals across all competitions. Took him 43 matches to get there. Although affordable, it’s Real Madrid, and he would probably be very expensive considering he’s unproven as no. 1 striker at a club.

Dolberg: Upsides: Decent striker, great talent. Downsides: One decent season. Unproven in a lot of ways. Would be a signing for the future and not someone to lead our line.

Right now, completely unscientifically, I’d want to break the bank for Mbappé. There are doubts, but if he is what he promises to be, he could have a career where he regularly fights for the Ballon d’Or. I feel like taking that chance and hopefully getting someone who could be our main goalscoring outlet for the next 10 seasons. Problem is, though, if we say goodbye to both Zlatan and Rooney, we kinda need two forward signings.

Red blood are you okay with a 52m+ move for Morata? i think he might find it tough here in the premier League, Levy will sale anyone for the right price as for Kane, he’s probably the next England captain, it would be wise for him to move to a big club.

Not a fan of Morata. Would rather have Lukaku for that money.

Dybala is not an out and out striker and is not available. Aubameyang is an option but looks to be on the way to PSG, Lukaku’s off to Chelsea, Mbappe will eventually end up in Madrid. Dembele may be good but he may not and would be a very expensive risk, and Belotti is an unknown quantity who would cost as much if not more than Morata. As for Dolberg, surely you’re having a laugh? And it’s not 52 for Morata mate, they’ve turned that down. It’ll be more if we get him. As for him not getting in Madrid’s squad, that’s nonsense. As for him not getting in Madrid’s first eleven regularly, who would? You might not like the current prices, neither do I, but I’m afraid we’re both going to have to live it.

Fellaini – 27.5 million 4 years ago. Mata 37 million 3.5 years ago. Herrera and Shaw 30 million apiece 3 years ago. That’s what 25 to 40 million used to get you. Get real people!!

jm1502 – No that’s what Utd pay for players.

    Van Dijk £11.5m, Gabbiadini £14m, Mane £10m, Coutinho £8.5m, Payet £10.7m, Wanyama £11m, Alderwiereld £11.5m, Alli £5m, Eriksen £11m, Vertonghen £10m, Kante £5.6m, Welbeck £16m, Giroud £13m, Cazorla £20m, Koscielny £10m.

Only seems to be Utd, City and Chelsea that pay silly money all the time. Other clubs take gambles and it pays off more often than not. Spurs are leading the way with their squad.

We pay a premium because we’re the wealthiest club in the world. It’s all relative. I think that, in our quest to get back to the top, we shouldn’t worry about how much a player costs us. If the player is going to take us back to the top then just get him, let’s get back to where we belong.

Manny, half your list is duds and the other were potentially duds, some of whom came good. Unfortunately, we can’t risk buying duds mate.

Why do you bother your heads with how much we pay for players? Who cares? I agree with Happy for once, we pay a premium because of the status of our club. That’s the world we live in. I would rather a club like Man United approach me to buy my player if I was a CEO of another club, so I can charge a premium, rather than a Southampton or Bologna ffs.

Get over yourselves and lets get the players that’ll take us to the top once again no matter the cost.

Plenty of ex madrid benchwarmers who were/are world class.

Makalele, Seedorf, Higuain, Robben, Sneijder. Special mentions to Beckham, Van der Vaart, Ozil, Di Maria, Figo, Morientes, James, Isco and now maybe even Bale.

Lets face it, many of the current bench warmers at Madrid will be 1st teamers anywhere else.
