I fully expect a win here against the worst team in the Prem.
I wonder though will we rest any of the front 3 for this game?
Our next game after this is 5 days later in the FA cup so perhaps we will start with our strongest front 3, get the job done then rest/rotate.
The more I think about it, I’d put out our strongest team here to keep them ticking over and the momentum going so perhaps a team off…
Migs, Gomez, Matip, VVD, Robbo, Can, Wij, Chambo, Salah, Firmino, Mane.
Perhaps a few tweaks for the FA Cup the following week.January 18, 2018 at 8:54 pm #1585385I’d go with that team ginger. I’m concerned lol as usual. Swansea new manager etc. we just can’t thriw any results away at this stage. We are in fine form and really need to keep going
Would love to win the Fa Cup but a few should be rested for sat with Huddersfield away on the tue.
Btw by winning on Sunday was the 1st time we had won 4 pl games in a row under Jurgen.
Absolutely no reason why we can’t jero this run going. There always that niggling doubt with us that we will fool up at one stage but other clubs are dropping points. We are in a much better position then I thought we would be by the middle of Jan. Sunday was an absolutely massive win
January 18, 2018 at 10:06 pm #1585409Must win game, no good beating the champions elect then losing to worst team in the comp. I fully expect a win here, we are full of confidence & should have way too much.
January 19, 2018 at 5:29 am #1585439Keep same team as we need to keep up pressure at top and keep a gap.
January 19, 2018 at 7:52 am #1585470Except Jurgen has already stated Karius is his No 1, so I would expect him to play obviously
January 19, 2018 at 8:14 am #1585475Hightown please get a word to the players not to celebrate goals with these knee sliding gimmicks, it can cause unnecessary injuries.
January 19, 2018 at 9:11 am #1585504Yes of course Hightown, a slip up on my part.
I’d actually have Ward start the FA Cup though.January 19, 2018 at 10:30 am #1585553TAA, Matip, VVD, Robbo, Can, Wij, Ox, Salah, Firmino, Mane
January 19, 2018 at 10:33 am #1585555With karius in goal , swansea would probably have 2 shots on goal the whole game and score with both of them.
January 19, 2018 at 11:56 am #1585598Migs isn’t much better.
January 19, 2018 at 12:55 pm #1585655I fully expect the lads to capitalize on Swansea, they need prove that they are over losing Coutinho, the big issue seems to be whether to play Mignolet or Karius.
I would go for the latter, I´m not sure who is the better keeper but Karius is the better footballer, our build up play is much better with him in the side than Migs.
Simon is as good as he will become, I don´t fancy him for a title winning keeper, Karius can improve immensely on the other hand.
January 19, 2018 at 2:39 pm #1585706Salah, Klavan and Lovren a doubt for Swansea
January 19, 2018 at 2:56 pm #1585717Bingo i would start karius until the end of the season. Migs is 29 probably has reached his peak. I think hes gone in the summer anyway. Karius has got 5 months to prove hes good enough. But on current form he looks heavy handed. slow. Short on confidence.basically crap.
January 19, 2018 at 3:06 pm #1585732Klopp has said Karius is no1 now.
I think it’s clear now he’ll start the vast majority of games unless something drastic happens.January 19, 2018 at 3:17 pm #1585736Lets hope he gets back the form that got him the 2nd best goalkeeper in the bundesliga.
January 19, 2018 at 5:23 pm #1585809Could anyone have saved that Sane goal, id like to see the speed statistics of the shot Sane had. It was soo unnaturally fast I don’t think Buffon would have seen it! However that being said Karius needs a few games to gain confidence. If you ask me I feel that becasue he has got VVD now =, I think Klopp feels it is the right time to blood Karius for real. I think before he was worried that becasue the defence was so suspect that it could make Karius look even worse. Now with better protection Karius can enjoy a run of games in the prem, also helps that VVD will probably take over the role of the ‘organiser’.
January 19, 2018 at 6:23 pm #1585826He left a large gap at his near post so yeah I think a better keeper wouldn’t have left that gap therefore Sane wouldn’t have targetted that space or the keeper would be in a position to stop it.
Let’s also not ignore that the shot went completely thru his hands.
Not the first he has had “hologram hands”.January 19, 2018 at 7:06 pm #1585835Klopp said Salah and Klavan will be OK but Lovren still a doubt.
January 20, 2018 at 1:05 am #1585867@gingerlfc Maybe the reason why Karius left a wee bit gap on his right was because he did not expect a shot to come in from that angle as Gomez was there. The same logic when a player takes a freekick and scores over the wall. I cant deny that so far he seems a little flat footed and slow in his reaction but maybe after a run of games, things may or may not improve we wont know until we try. Even the best goalkeeper in the league De Gea made amateurish mistake, remember Coutinho’s chip goal last season. De Gea did all the right thing of closing down on the player but could not prevent the shot from going over his shoulder.
If we can give Mignolet 4 years to prove himself, I dont see why we cant give Karius half a season to do so. We might risk jeopardising this season but at least by the end of this season, we know whether what changes need to be made (buy a top goalkeeper or a backup).
January 20, 2018 at 5:14 am #1585871Garydos It’s easy to say ah let’s just give him a try till the end of the season & if it don’t work out at least we will know, the problem is if we miss top 4 this season i think it’ll set us back a couple of years at least. It is that tight in the race for top 4 we can’t afford to have calamity James mac11 at the back & hoping he doesn’t stuff up. I honestly cannot believe people think he is a good keeper or Even has potential to become one. He’s had a few chances for us but is terrible in pretty much every department. People say oh he’s young he might improve, well from what I’ve seen he’s a bloody terrible keeper & we need a new no1 keeper if we are serious about being title contenders. I believe Migs is better & that’s saying something. New keeper a must IMO.
