Ginger, excellent post @7:58pm re your post @5:04pm I never ever thought you were having a dig at me mate so no worries indeed no worries if you were having a dig at me that’s you’re right I’m merely a guest on here.
I get the fact that the fans are split re FSG and rumours of takeovers just adds to that but as an outsider looking in imo FSG have been a force for more good than bad and overall Liverpool aren’t as badly off both on and off the field as some seem to think.
Having said that you’re Liverpool FC and where you are now and where you might go to doesn’t live up to your glorious past so I get the frustrations.
October 12, 2017 at 9:04 am #1543570For being so “dire on the pitch” we’ve only lost 1 game since April.
Yes we’ve drew too many this season but hardly dire.
We’re not Palace.Once again perspective is needed.
October 12, 2017 at 10:35 am #1543610I don’t buy into the whole results are bad there for we are talking about a takeover.
The reason why IMO is because there is a interested party and under FSG the club seems unable to acquire their first choice targets.
Every time we gain a bit of momentum the club fails in the market, our current team in charge of recruitment might be new but it’s the third team under FSG.
I consider it a major problem when we can’t recruit the players the manager wants. The jury will be out in January, cause if the club fails in the market once again the fans will start to turn on them.
Not just the oddballs that need a blameguy for everything but the more pragmatic fans, that will have learned from 7 years of wasted opportunities that we can do better under better leadership from the top.
October 12, 2017 at 11:03 am #1543624There are several reasons why we havnt been able to sign our first choice targets.
The club who has the player doesn’t want to sell i.e. Southampton
We havnt been that attractive a destination due to no CL.
Players choose the clubs that pay the massive wages.
Players choose the high profile managers to work with.
And yes our own fuck ups play a part. But to simply lay the entire blame at FSGs door does not reflect what’s really going on.
Once again, context and perspective is needed.October 12, 2017 at 11:18 am #1543632All clubs prefer to keep their best players, So’ton refusing to sell is not a first, not making a single bid for said player is.
As for the Champions League, we have twice now entered into the format under FSG and on both occasions there has been a massive problem with recruitment.
Klopp is a high profile manager that has openly stated that the club convinced every target out there to join but as before there is a problem with recruitment.
FSG have deluded themselves into thinking that the naming rights to the stands will get us to the next level but there have been no takers for years now.
If the problem persists pressure will increase on them to sell. You can put what ever spin you want on it but lack of investment will always counter what ever argument that comes up until proven otherwise.
Or would you care to predict the January window ginger? Are you optimistic about getting our man in January, we are desperately short at the back. The only fix is investment as we simple lack the numbers to compete.
October 12, 2017 at 12:09 pm #1543668It’s been explained previously several times why we couldn’t put in a bid for VVD after convincing him to join.
As I said in a previous post there is valid genuine criticism to be made for our inability to get targets across the line.
However FSG is not behind every reason.October 12, 2017 at 12:29 pm #1543673IMO Klopps as much if not more to blame than FSG for not strengthening. I get he wouldn’t come out & say they didn’t back him but I don’t think that’s the case. I believe Klopp thought he could work with what we wave until his 1st choice became available. As we know that has failed miserably & like many of us predicted we needed at least 1 CB in the summer window but got none.
The scouting department at Liverpool are not doing a very good job if they couldn’t find an improvement on Lovern & Klavan so they can take some of the blame also.October 12, 2017 at 1:25 pm #1543707I agree No8.
We should have been after 2 centrebacks IMO.
Klavan clearly isn’t up to the job and Lovrens not far behind. If we target 2 and only get one it’s not ideal but st least an addition has been made.
And I refuse to accept Klopps arguement that there’s not better out there than Klavan.
I appreciate he has to say this publicly to keep his players on board but privately he must know differently and should have acted upon it.October 12, 2017 at 2:02 pm #1543721Exactly Aussie, the 4o million spent on Ox could have been spent on a Top CB.
October 12, 2017 at 2:41 pm #1543737Perspective as I see it is one minor trophy and two Champions League campaigns since FSG took over. The first Champions League campaign was an unmitigated disaster due to lack of investment and the current campaign is heading the same way. Perspective is becoming a laughing stock for having the same Key Stone Cop defence for five, six years and running. Perspective is were it not for luck at Leicester we would now be in one of our worst runs in recent memory. Perspective is that only Crystal Palace and West Ham have conceded more goals than us. I guess perspective is only relevant to the person viewing it.
October 12, 2017 at 2:43 pm #1543738Hey pax great to see you’ve lowered yourself to our level again. Welcome back mate.
October 12, 2017 at 2:47 pm #1543747So in effect guys what some people are saying is Klopp is the problem. Should FSG sack him? Just asking because it’s clearly his fault so should we show him the door? We showed Hodgson the door, Rodgers has a better record than Klopp and he was politely asked to leave. Everyone on this site knows our deficiencies yet Jurgen seems blind to it. If he’s that much of an imbecile then he clearly needs to go.
October 12, 2017 at 3:23 pm #1543767No one is suggesting Klopp goes but he has to take some blame for what’s going wrong. We had a back 4 that was beginning to gell towards end of last season and yet he decides and yet he decides to start the new season with Moreno and start interchanging the GK. In your eyes, it’s probably FSG’s fault
October 12, 2017 at 3:30 pm #1543776Trying to find a scapegoat to pin all the blame on is a fruitless exercise.
There’s a host of reasons why things go wrong or don’t get done.
It’s simplistic in the extreme to think x=y in relation to these problems as there is a complex array of issues surrounding these things.October 12, 2017 at 3:30 pm #1543777Blah blah blah Kopite same shit different day. You’re happy with the mediocrity under FSG. Wish I felt the same.
October 12, 2017 at 3:43 pm #1543783I get it ginger , but why has our transfer policy been such a shambles under FSG? It’s not just the last two seasons, though they have been particularly bad. We could have had Salah two three years ago if we had gone a couple of million higher. We didn’t and bought him this season for almost quadruple what we could have got him. Deli Alli, my God that one sums up everything. The VVD shambles, Konoplyanka, Zielinski, Willian all these balls ups thanks to the transfer committee set up by FSG and still running. Rodgers with no say in most of the signings he got and looking like Klopp is getting players he clearly didn’t want. That’s the only way you can explain Moreno as first choice LB after spending all summer trying to sell the c u next Tuesday for a used Fait 500.
October 12, 2017 at 4:41 pm #1543807Konoplyanka didn’t go thru because their president pulled the plug in the deal at the last minute.
William we were gazumped by Spurs who in turn were gazumped by Chelsea. This is exactly what I’m talking about.
Not everything can be blamed on FSG.
There are complex issues that surround these things. Everything’s not just black and white.October 12, 2017 at 4:54 pm #1543808Believe me I have my gripes over how they’ve handled things but generally it’s been down to inexperience in working in the football world.
The Salah deal first time round particularly sticks in my throat as I believe he coulda been the difference between winning the league that year or coming 2nd.
Our financial position has improved year on year allowing us to spend/bid more. Our situation around how transfers have been improving. Just not enough to my liking that doesn’t mean FSG out though.October 12, 2017 at 5:09 pm #1543817Shankly: I’m not happy with what’s going on but to blame everything on FSG is over the TOP. In your eyes, Klopp does no wrong and it’s all FSG’s fault.
October 12, 2017 at 6:29 pm #1543841Ginger it sounds like you would believe what ever excuse FSG provide for fucking up our transfers time after time.
The list of missed first choice targets is getting ridiculously long. There was only one signing made for the first team this summer.
It’s one window after the next where FSG promise to deliver and only come up with excuses.
For me it’s simple, they don’t give a fuck about titles as long as the club continues climb up the moneyleague and that they certainly do not care if the manager has a full squad of players.
I might be wrong though, I hope so and that the club will invest in the playing squad but I’m not holding my breath for it.
