Hard one to call, would prefer City to win but if Sturridge is even 70% fit the movement of the Liverpool players could be to much.
February 25, 2016 at 7:05 am #882325I think it could be a very good Final. Hopefully Liverpool play close to the standards that they set at the Etihad and City replicate the football that we all know they are capable of, and there were definite signs of that from them v Kiev last night.
Looking forward to it, it should be a great Final for the neutral.
February 25, 2016 at 8:38 am #882454if both teams play to their best abilty then city will wion. They have the better players but im more confident going into the final then the game tonight.
be no supirse if sturridge gets injured tonight and he misses the final. We have to try and exploit cities defensive line when they sit back on the 18th yard and try and play offisde. They use that tactic so well. Kompay really orgainses the defence so well and we took full advnatage of him missing in Nov. We have the players to hurt city. We can give them a game. A trophy would be massive for klopp. It doesnt matter were we finish in the league. Just to win a trophy in his first season would be massive. Tough game to call.
No rpobelm losing once we give it our all. Last season our performance in the fa cup semi fianlw as pathetic. Just dont lose with a wimper. Turn up and give city a game. We need to be at our best
February 25, 2016 at 10:01 am #882631Forget about the league game, it’s meaningless. I’m with Sean, if City play to their potential they will win no matter what we do. Auguero will be key and I don’t think our defence will keep him quiet. I just hope we are up for it and give a good account of ourselves. Here’s to a great game.
February 25, 2016 at 10:13 am #882643thats it shanksy. If we dont turn up il be disgusted. The semi final againest villa last year was a disgrace. If you cant get up for a cup final then feck off
February 25, 2016 at 10:22 am #882664We are underdogs.
February 25, 2016 at 11:56 am #882856You are Nil and as Sean rightly says if both teams play up to their full potential City will probably win but at Wembley there is a history of the underdogs coming through.
February 25, 2016 at 12:07 pm #882895999 – I think Wembley or Cup Finals have more of a history of the underdog giving a great account of themselves but finally failing certainly in my recent memories, just thinking about our 2006 FA Cup final against West Ham, and league cup finals with Birmingham and Cardiff all of those we sneaked on Pens
February 25, 2016 at 12:10 pm #882913This EL tie tonight is a real pain in terms of it’s timing and hence selection dilemmas.
February 25, 2016 at 12:16 pm #882940Mikus – spurs had the same last year and as much credit as Pochetino deserves this season, he got it majorly wrong. we had two games against fiorentina with the cup final against chelsea in between. his team selections were confused and we ended up losing both ties due to the poor selections. he wasnt sure how to approach it and it went very wrong.
February 25, 2016 at 12:19 pm #882943Liverpool or City, who do I want to win.
Just remove the game from my brain and pretend it never happened. Prefer to watch repeats of Corrie and Eastenders than them 2 play against each other.
February 25, 2016 at 12:23 pm #882958we have a decent record against City and under Klopp we seem much more fired up for the big games in which we have generally performed very well even though the results have not always gone our way….I fully expect us to start better than City and if we take advantage of a good start like we did at Etihad earlier this season then we should be fine
February 25, 2016 at 12:31 pm #882973Paxton – Yeah the EL is a bit of a pain, but the players haven’t played for a week, Klopp himself said playing two or three games one after the other is not a problem it is when you have to play 7 in 21 days I would expect to see similar strong line ups for both games, not so sure about the third one next Wednesday.
Also although we are playing a day later than City they have had to have the travelling to Kiev and back so that should even things up a bit.
February 25, 2016 at 12:36 pm #882994I think what to do with Sturbridge is the key question. Does he start him, get the game won then bring him off? Or start him on the bench?
We need to avoid ET like the plague tonight.
February 25, 2016 at 12:53 pm #883048Mikus – Personally I would start him and give him around 60 minutes.
February 25, 2016 at 12:54 pm #883051I’d start Sturridge and go for the jugular.
We could alternatively bring him on later and risk the half without him ensuring we don’t concede anything.
He’d be a great acquisition for us on the counter.
February 25, 2016 at 1:34 pm #883162Two good teams playing poorly. Let’s see if Klopp can get the players motivated for a big occasion, City have struggled against every top team they’ve played this season
February 25, 2016 at 1:49 pm #883195I think as things stand Liverpool will win and will win comfortably. They are a title winning side IMO when Sturridge is fit and firing and Coutinho is on form.
I really don’t rate City’s midfield pairing of Fernando and Fernandinho especially with a lazy Toure infront of them. Silva, Sterling and Aguero are deadly though. City are similar to Barca in that their first 11 is great, especially the front 3, yet past that they struggle in terms of quality. Difference is Barca players are always fit.
Last night summed Toure up for me. A complete passenger for 89 mins then pops up with a fantastic goal from nothing to seal the tie.
3-1 Liverpool barring any injuries to Sturridge before then.
February 25, 2016 at 2:25 pm #883309Manthistle – I hope that you are right, my worry is we can be so inconsistent also.
February 25, 2016 at 4:12 pm #883441I think Liverpool will win.
City only seem to play at 80%, this gives them wins against the poorer teams but they struggle against the top teams.
As long as pool give it 100% and Sturridge plays an hour, then I think they will do it. -
