Most fans, puntits etc. would put Harry Kane as a default selection for striker in the England team for the World Cup. I’m not entirely convinced, however.
He was abysmal and invisible today against United and made Smalling and Jones look like Chiellini and Bonucci.
Of course all players can have an off day and that was certainly the case for Harry Kane today. But what should worry England fans a lot more than a bad performance on one occasion, is the fact that the guy isn’t a winner. We’ve seen it before. He’s a big part of a team that always fails when the stakes are high and they don’t come higher than the World Cup. We’ve seen it before. When all the big hitters had an off season, they couldn’t brake Leicester for the title. When they thought they had an ageing Juve side pinned down, they got torn apart by a simple change of tactics from their opponents. Today they got beaten again by superior tactical know-how from their opponents. Harry couldn’t do anything about it really, but he didn’t even try.
Jamie Vardy and Marcus Rashford have both experienced the feeling of winning something. That’s an experience that cannot be underestimated. I bet that Joachim Löw would always select those 2 ahead of Kane just for that reason.

Fair play Harry didn’t play well but to overlook the obvious is blind. He had been rushed back from his injury too soon, this can be seen in the km ran against Brighton and United, not to mention the pass rate, chances created and number of shots have dropped. Poch is too desperate for him to be in the side it has become detrimental to the other 10. It’s easy to point out others who had won something before however how much winning experience was in that Leicester team? Every player starts somewhere.

Anyone who watched the game saw Lukaku miscontrol the ball and roll into the path of Herrera, hardly superior tactical know-how.

Where was the red for Valencia? Davies dome the same tackle on Kompany and pundits went crazy but when it’s the other way round the bias rears its ugly head once again.

We didn’t deserve anything from today,Poch needs to reflect on his performance as much as the players. With Toby in the side things may have been different.
