Hey guys! Apologies I know there are countless posts on summer transfers… but just wanted to make one specifically on relegated teams. I know relegation is not finalised yet but which players from the potentially relegated teams could we swoop on to get some bargains?
For me I say get the ‘fastest player in the league’, Middlesbrough’s left sided winger Adama Traore as he would provide perfect symmetry with Mane and get Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe on the cheap as our Ibrahimovic. Any other ideas?
March 22, 2017 at 3:24 pm #1454686I know we have never quite forgiven Sigurdisson for choosing Spurs over us (his loss anyway!), but I have always liked him as a player, and his record at Swansea is pretty impressive. It’s a fair argument to say that a creative midfielder is not really what we need, but it would keep Lallana on his toes!
March 22, 2017 at 3:25 pm #1454687Ha ha love the title mwake.
Defoe wouldn’t suit our style of play. We need someone who’s willing to work when we’re not in possession.
Done know enough about Traore except that’s he’s very fast.March 22, 2017 at 4:04 pm #1454700Yeah ginger, Adama Traore is amazingly fast, he probably bone of the few players that makes Mane look slow! I was fortunate to catch a little of Middlesbrough game vs it’s and with perfect timing witnessed Traore motoring past their players like they weren’t there including Valencia who is no slouch! I feel it would give us that double weapon that we desperately need plus we’d have another player who could go past people with ease. Also he could easily cover for Mane when he leaves for African nations tournament.
March 22, 2017 at 5:02 pm #1454720Hightown, it seems that TIA shares your view, they just listed 10 reasons to sign him. I can actually think of a few more, having followed him since his u21 days.
March 22, 2017 at 5:12 pm #1454723Yea Gylfis a pretty good player but not sure where he would fit in with Lallana, Coutinho and Firmino all able to play that attacking midfield position.
March 22, 2017 at 5:45 pm #1454738Yeah, one of your countrymen, Bingo, and a fine player, no doubt.
Ginger – Couts and Firmino currently play as part of the front 3 in the 4-3-3, with Lallana in the midfield 3, and it is that role that I would have thought suited Gylfi. Currently if Lallana got injured, I guess probably Couts would drop back, but that is far from his best position, in the same way, as part of the front 3 is far from Lallana’s best position. I doubt very much we will go for him anyway, but he is a fine player.
March 22, 2017 at 5:55 pm #1454743I might be a bit biased but he is a better player than Lallana but honestly he would fit in with grace. He got steel to his game, never stops working and dead balls to die for. He would give every midfielder at the club a run for their money. The one thing that stands out is his mentality, he is a crafter like Henderson without the minority complex.
March 22, 2017 at 6:00 pm #1454747Dont know know not a lot about Gylfi, but I hear positive remarks about him, if we could get him on the cheap that would be good. How much do you guys think he would cost?
March 22, 2017 at 6:05 pm #145474825-35 million, if Swansea get relegated, Gylfi is in high demand this summer. He is just about to reach his prime and has fulfilled everything asked of him so far in his career. Top of the assist charts and with 10 goals or something to his name already. He moved from Spurs for the international team, was not getting enough game time competing with Eriksen.
March 22, 2017 at 7:01 pm #1454767Wow thats a lot of money Bingo but hes obviously must be worth it. However from the little that I’ve seen of him isnt he a little bit similar to Wijnaldum though? Wijnaldum can play advanced too especially if you look at his time at Newcastle.
March 22, 2017 at 7:29 pm #1454773To be honest I don’t think the front 3 suits Coutinho. Not sure Klopps happy either if he’s pursuing Brandt.
I’ve always preferred Coutinho a little deeper and more central like back in the SAS days.Yes Bingo that’s the other thing his dead ball kicking is pretty damn good. Also standing at 6’1 is a bonus too.
March 22, 2017 at 7:43 pm #1454779If it comes down to Dahoud for 25 million or Gylfi, I’m going with the latter but that would mean Jordan and Emre in the DM.
March 22, 2017 at 7:57 pm #1454783Isn’t there meant to be a buy out clause on Dahoud for £8-10mil?
March 23, 2017 at 8:44 am #1454883Abel Hernandez from Hull
March 23, 2017 at 8:49 am #1454885I always think that there is some defenders or goalkeeper worth looking at in these relegated teams. These are the guys that have been battered all season and usually tested more than all the teams in the top half. There must be one down there that is worth looking at.
The flip side is that they got relegated so they were not good enough. Id still say its worth looking at.
March 24, 2017 at 3:54 pm #1455490Didn’t Traore turn us down for the heady heights of Aston Villa?
March 24, 2017 at 4:23 pm #1455502Lofty – I think you’re right, but Adama Traore was probably looking after himself thinking how many midfielders we have?
I think we could get him on the cheap… However a quick look at Google and I see lots of links with Chelsea so maybe it won’t be so cheap. But Klopp is looking at Brandt apparently, you would think Traore should be much cheaper than Brandt? Then again we paid Newcastle 23 mill for Winaljdum. Regardless the vultures will definitely be after Traore if/when Middleborough get relegated and if he’s much cheaper than what Brandt team is asking for then let’s go for him.Gibbo – Sunderland’s current goalkeeper is supposed to be really good, we should look at him, wait… Haven’t we been there before..?
March 25, 2017 at 2:36 am #1455563Great title.
(OK they probably won’t get relegated but I don’t think it will matter in this case.)
schmeichel.
