Did you say Marco Silva? its yet another remind of your falling status. we were once linked Pep and other like him. now we are looking for a manager whom Watford sacked? its even adding my worry. first it was the third tier players that we went for, now its mid table manager. and you know what the result mean.
February 10, 2018 at 8:27 pm #1597443Wise fan, not really mate if some people put a bit of money on someone the odds fall it doesn’t mean Chelsea are going to appoint Silva as the next Chelsea Manager and if there is any truth in this it could be just as an interim Manager?
Purely a rumour imo driven by a bit of betting based on Silva being available and Conte potentially being sacked.
Much more likely to be something and nothing but we’ll see.
February 10, 2018 at 10:19 pm #1597458The small matter of a €30m payout should Conte be sacked is also probably keeping RA’s itchy trigger finger at bay. Small change to him 10 years ago but obviously times have changed…FFP, a new stadium etc.
February 11, 2018 at 11:31 am #1597559A thing that worries me, if Conte does go before the end of season, in the past we have always had Steve Holland seeing us through the transition period, If Conte goes I see no one in that role, this I feel is possibly one of the many reasons to hold onto Conte until end of season for the transition to be smoother.
February 12, 2018 at 1:49 pm #1598206devchels – a very valid point and one that I am sure that Roman and the board has considered as well. Basically, we are not in a good position if we did get rid of Conte early but if we lost tonight and Friday then results may simply dictate the decision
Hopefully, we will both games this week to ease some pressure but the odds are still on Chelsea starting next season with a new man in charge…? KTBFFH
February 17, 2018 at 1:39 pm #1600718“Antonio Conte will be in charge of Chelsea next season, according to his agent.
Conte signed a three-year contract when he became Chelsea manager in summer 2016.
The Italian signed an improved deal, but not an extended one, after winning the Premier League title in his first campaign.
There will therefore be one year remaining on his contract at the end of this season, and many felt both he and the club could use this as a way to engineer his early departure.
Conte and Chelsea have clashed in recent weeks over the club’s transfer activity, and Luis Enrique has reportedly already been lined up as his replacement – although sacking the manager will only be half the battle.
But Conte’s agent envisages his client to still be in charge at Stamford Bridge this time next year.
“Conte has already been through that experience and prefers to work with the squad on a daily basis,” his representative Federico Pastorello told Rai Sport.
“I see him at Chelsea next year, as he has a contract valid for another season-and-a-half and doesn’t like to leave things unfinished.”
Seems sensible but I guess he would say that wouldn’t he.😊
February 17, 2018 at 8:05 pm #1600919Good news finally. I hope the club have a change of heart and extend Conte’s contract. He is vital in promoting our youth finally. Imagine we have dodged £75m bullet and promoted Christensen. Now anyone agrees that we made the right decision by not going for Van Dijk. And i think he brought back Moses back. And don’t rule out both making the grade if he stays.
February 19, 2018 at 8:37 am #1601293To be fair this is exactly what I would expect any agent to say as it means that if Chelsea want to make a change then Conte gets a pay off. As far as I recall, Conte has always maintained he has a contract to honour and he expects to see it out so basically the ball is firmly in the court of Chelsea and if they really want Enrique (or anyone) then they have a choice to make as surely he will be snapped up by someone ready for next season
Far from done and dusted in my book but I do think that the Club has supported Conte financially and that it is Conte who also has to make a decision because I do not think we can go through another transfer window with him continuing to complain…? KTBFFH
February 19, 2018 at 10:54 am #1601377Disturbing news are emerging the for the club. its has been reported that the board has overruled Antonio Conte about the Michy loan issue. this is disgusting if the board is resorting to frustrate the manager. and if Conte leaves, i can’t fault him. i will hold Marina responsible for his sacking. which top manager will accept to be embarrassed like Conte is done to?
February 19, 2018 at 12:18 pm #1601417CM – to be fair, I make the board correct and from his recent performances he has done little to make them think they made a mistake
It would appear that after Jose let so many players go (for various reasons) they have learnt from their mistakes. We paid good money for a kid with a lot of potential but for whatever reason Conte simply does not like/trust Michy…? Maybe the formation or style of play did not suit him but it seems that from the word go Conte has had an issues
Think the board were correct but will admit that unless Conte is prepared to change his view and give Michy a chance then it may almost come down to a choice of manager or player and when you consider how Conte has acted over the course of this season then I think the writing could be on the wall for him…? I think you are missing my point. what Conte wanted was to keep him until the summer. given that we have suffered with this false 9. in this case i will give Conte the benefit of doubt. and how could they overrule the man who coaches these players. Michy was always a goal poacher. but with the small players we have around him. he was required to hold the ball up. to bring Hazard, Fabregas and Pedro in to the game. something that he failed so many times. i could understand why Conte was skeptical deploying him. the beef i had with board is which one of them has the footballing knowledge to challenge Conte’s decision?
February 19, 2018 at 2:45 pm #1601489CM – not according to the reports that I am reading. They indicate that Conte wanted to sell Michy as he would not play him but the board refused and stated he could go on loan as they see a good footballer. KTBFFH
