Better late than never, he’s now starting to look the player we forked out 30 million for. Much better return from him this season even if it is from his wand of a terrific peg. Get him on corners. He’s added a new skill to his game, getting goals and finding men in dangerous areas. Proper pleased and I hope the support Jose got last night rallies the team into playing in the league.

I agree but to give a balanced view of Willian even though he does deserve the credit, he has been our most consistent player however the standards set by the rest of the team have not been very good this year including the latter part of last season so he does not have high values to match for now, lets wait and see when the whole team kicks into form and also when we play the top quality teams. I reserve my judgement for now but at the same time hope he can even become a better all round player.

I think willian has been a key player for us since the moment we signed him. It would be nice if he was better, would be nice if all our players were, but he has quality and is definately improving. Add this to the fact that no player is as altruistic in respect of the needs of the team as willian and I think 30m has already proven to be good value in todays market, he is still getting better. He is in my starting line up every day of the week and think we are lucky to have him imo.

I wouldn’t want to take anything away from Willian and goodness knows we need somebody performing to a high level but you make a good point notnice given how everybody else has been performing Willian is bound to stand out.

Still not sure whether Willian’s best position is out wide or as a 10 which probably would be Hazards best position too another quandry for Jose to solve as we really do need a fully firing Hazard back in the team.

you know nine, i think a solution would be to clone willian and have him playing left and right with hazard in the hole 🙂

seriously though, if we had a another player as mobile, hard working, defensively capable and technically well-balanced as willian, I think we could get the most out of hazard by playing him in the centre and relieving him of some defensive responsibilities.

Nine, personally I think the best performances I have seen from Willian have been in the number 10 role. Unfortunately the same can be said of Hazard and Oscar too. They can all do a job on the wing, but look much more creative in the 10.

ONLY WILLIAN IS A STAND OUT ATTACKING PLAYER FOR US SO FAR !!

Willian has silenced most of his critics with his newfound end products and efervensence dilligent work rate !!! KEEP IT UP WILLY !!

COSTA – i don’t know what happen to him, Costa is definitely out of form, and simply can’t create something out of nothing ala Didier and Hasselbaink. He is not a great targetman, can’t hold the ball well enough to let others interplay with him, not attacking crosses, not taking shots. Come one Costa, at least make some runs, take earlier shots !!

I’ve read this opinion on here and a few other sites about how Willian is our best player and we’re struggling this season whilst when Hazard was our best player last season we were on top and winning. As if that shows the difference in quality between them? When Hazard plays great we win the league and when Willian plays great we languish. It’s a back-handed compliment to Willian. If it wasn’t for Willian this season we would be down deep in the relegation zone and we’d be out of the Champion’s League. His form and his great play has nothing at all to do with Hazard. And, to use a war analogy, I know which of the two I’d prefer alongside me in the trenches.

Overtone, I don’t think it’s just a Willian is playing great and Hazard is playing pants.

All of Terry, Ivanovich, Matic, Fabregas, Hazard and Costa have been way off and its nothing to do with being overplayed and tiredness or the conspiracy theory that Cesc would rather lose for Mourinho as Fabregas ran further than anybody in midweek.

That’s 6 players out of our best starting eleven from last seasons title winning team and then throw in the injury to Courtois and that’s 7 players who are way off form or unavailable from last seasons best starting 11. Cheers 999

when you look at players we sacrificed to have in in our team, its easy to say he has improved. apart from 5 free kicks he has scored, Remind me what else he has added to his game. you can’t be scoring 20+ free kicks in a season. perhaps to shows the attitude we have developed under Mourinho when we are judging attacking players. first they should be good defenders then they should attack. and no wonder that is why we are losing almost every game we play.

999 you are correct. People seem to be making out like it was a one man team last season. Hazard could only flourish because the whole team was functioning. I’m not trying to take anything away from him. He was magnificent. I just wanted to point out that Willian is playing great this season WITHOUT the support of the majority of his team-mates (by support I mean that they’re not playing to their usual standards).
Wise-fan, if you think that all Willian has done is score 5 free kicks this season then you obviously haven’t been watching the matches. You’re twisting the thread onto an attack (via Willian) on Mourinho, so that suggests you have an agenda against him.

Overtone, 100% agree with you mate and imo we were far too reliant on Hazard digging us out of holes last season. He’s not doing it now because he’s not playing for whatever reasons to his potential and he of course is not the only one but look at the impact on our team.

As well as Willian. I feel Ramires has been one of our better players this season and step up (slightly) where others are failing.
