    Hi Gus,

I think you’re right. I’d take a seasoned pro slightly past their sell-by date on loan for the rest of the season. The squad with all its faults has got up to 4th. Chelski and Manure are helping in a big way of course, but 4th is 4th. That being the case, just a little something to invigorate the squad, add some goals and take the pressure of HK might just do it. But hey, we’ve been on the brink before. As much as I hated his second-hand-car-dealer persona, you’d think HR would have a couple of options lined up, even if Levy objected and/or didn’t act on it.

I think the conversation, if it even took place, with Pinocchio went something like this:
Levy: Oi Poch the sheep. Will you be needing any reinforcements this January and I’m expecting the answer to be no.
PtS: Errrrrr (mumble, mumble, mumble) errrrrr…..no.
Levy: Good man. Now run along. Oh and it’s milk with two sugars. Thanks.

I don’t know if anyone else caught this, but a few months ago Steve Parish was on TalkSport for a lengthy interview with Andy Goldstein (I think). It was brilliant. He talked about how he runs the club (Crystal Palace of course), how transfers happen, how he deals with agents, etc. (yes, the John Bostock thing came up). It was really interesting and Parish came across as extremely personable, friendly and intelligent. A thought occurred to me at the time, could I imagine Daniel Levy doing something similar? Answers on a postcard to ‘When Hell Freezes Over Competition’, Minnesota, USA.
    Cheers – Sota.

Just did the kit quiz on the BBC footie website. Got 7/10. Not bad. While there I scanned the predictions from the BBC’s own Worzel Gummidge, Mark ‘insert your own expletive’ Lawrenson. So his beloved Scouse Filth got creamed last week by Watford. WATFORD!!!! Hahahaha. Meanwhile, Leicester did a merry jig around Ev and won 2-3 at Goodison. So this week, the Scouse Filth play Leicester and what does this tool write? Here goes and I quote:

“What we haven’t spoke about is how organised the team is behind those two. Leicester have got width, defenders who defend, a top goalkeeper and they are all prepared to work hard to create chances for Mahrez and Vardy. But, for some reason, I fancy Liverpool.”

Seriously? OMG!! His illiterate use of the word “spoke” aside, could he be more blinkered, biased and completely devoid of any rational thought? I miss the days when Alan Hansen would argue with him for being such a dope. Anyway, he’s got us down to beat Norwich 2-0 which makes a pleasant change. Go Leicester and especially go Spurs.

Happy Eve to one and all. Cheers – Sota.

Sota, Lawrenson has always hated Spurs(did we turn him down when he was a youngster I wonder?) and wears RED tinted specs when he talks of Liverpool. How someone so thick made it as a pundit on the Beeb I’ll never know. Another triumph of mediocrity.

Scoff – you are correct sir!

Remember when you were a kid and you just accepted the way things were and automatically assumed people just knew what they were doing and should be doing what they’re doing? With age comes knowledge, experience, wisdom and the ability to see through other people’s BS and total lack of qualifications.

In so far as it relates to footie, there are just some people who should not have the jobs they do. Mark ‘Worzel Gummidge’ Lawrenson being one of them. Over here in Yankland, the footie is carried by NBC. The footie show is hosted by Rebecca Lowe for some unknown reason and the two pundits are taken from a 3 consisting of Robbie Earle, Robbie Mustoe and Kyle Martino. The Robbies are swapped each week so the token Yank Martino can get his stupid face on TV. This guy knows nothing about football, having played in the Mickey Mouse League of S***e (rhymes with “bite”) or MLS as it’s officially known. If this guy spent as much time learning about the game as he does applying buckets of hair gel to his bonce, he’d still be a massive a tool. He comes across as a real know-all and yet sits in a TV studio 8,000 miles away from the action never having met the players, coaches or even seen a live Prem game probably. To be fair, Mustoe is rather good and totally holds his own against the other Robbie. Whose footballing claims to fame are being a member of a band of thugs in the 90s known as Wimbledon and selling dodgy World Cup tickets and getting sacked by ITV for doing it. Lowe, Martino and Earle should not be on TV and should have nothing to do with football, but there they are. Drives me nuts! Cheers – Sota.

Merry Christmas to all Spurs fans wherever in the world you reside.

-1 in Minneapolis right now with snow on the way later on. Looking forward to my traditional British Christmas dinner (that I seem to be doing most of the cooking for – the Yank wife needs to step up me thinks 😉 Pressies after that, then more wine, mince pies (OK, she made those) and a movie. Footy tomorrow. Yea!

Jingle all the way – Sota.

ERIKSEN is not the player he was. It seems to me that Alli has taken his place as creator in chief , and |Eriksen feels, and looks, a bit superfluous. Right now i would like to see Chadli/Son given more playing time and Eriksen benched.

AKA – I’m with you on this. I had hoped Eriksen would be that one special player Spurs generally seem to have had over the years (Hodd, Gazza, Ginola, Klins, Berbs, Bale, Andy Sinton – KIDDING!!!), but he just blows hot and cold and more cold these days. The lad has talent for sure, but he’s not using it to consistently torment the opposition and control things in the middle. Not sure Chadli and/or Son are the answer though. Alli does look keen to impress every game, so that’s good.

I’m not worried though because Levy will get us a midfield maestro and a quick, strong and prolific striker in January to help us cement a top 4 finish. Hahahahaha. Pass the vodka. Cheers – Sota.

Oh Yes Oh Yes 9 points from three games after the Newcastle defeat. Are we really starting to see something special here. Every game I keep expecting us to return to type and roll over. It is great that we are winning these hard games, it sounds like this was a very physical game which is when we usual bottle it but not today.
Please Mr Levy make sure we invest in this team in the Jan window and just maybe we might surprise everyone.

Well that was a fantastic result! I’ve got so used to seeing us bottling it against hard playing/never-give-up teams like Watford that I never saw this coming. But Spurs these days are a battling lot that also never give up. Result- 3 points where I didn’t expect any. Wow! Well done guys. Just hope our Chairman “comes to the party” and strengthens the team next month. If he does, then more amazing things will follow. My goodness its great being a Spurs fan these days.

    What’s happening guys?
A Spurs team showing character? A goal difference more in keeping with the Manchester and West London, sugar daddy clubs, and positive…well almost positive…comments from some of our most hard to please supporters on this page. (Clearly I no longer include myself in that category, given my recent conversion to Poch’s style of management and to the delightful Mr. Levy’s stewardship of our Club)
Seriously though, it really is a pleasure to be a supporter at the moment isn’t it?
Finally, Sota and Riddler, there isn’t a question in my mind that young Eriksen is indeed the real deal, as I’ve no doubt he will begin to demonstrate over the coming weeks.
Such unmitigated positivity has left me quite exhausted…time for a little lie down me thinks.

Good result by the boys today, but gosh the football was poor.

I know he scored, but Lame-la did very little else. Carroll was poor. Can’t seem to make an easy 5 yard pass and kept giving the ball away. I notice that Eriksen pulls out of every 50/50 ball. Wuss. Rose still can’t cross a ball to save his life. We were an inch from going behind to 10 men (thank the lord for that goal line technology thingy) and Son looked offside in the first and second phase of play when he scored – let’s be honest – a fluky goal. Yes, we won but we got away with it today against a reasonably good team but playing with 10 men for 20 odd minutes. Hardly the commanding, high press, possession based game Pinocchio is supposed to be famed for.

Positives? The result obviously. Alli looked up for it every minute he was on the pitch. Verts, Dier and Alder looked solid enough and Kane, as ever, ran all game. Attacking hard and defending when needed. Jeez he’s a fit guy. Good for him.

Oh, did anyone else see the news ‘story’ about Pinocchio banging on that Kane is not for sale at any price? Hahahaha. What a massive tool. Like that kind of decision would have anything to do with him. Bless. If Manure, Citey, Chelski or whoever came in with a silly money bid, do you really think Slippery Dan would blink before calling Kane a taxi? Wouldn’t happen though, right? One word: Bale. Hmmm. Berbatov. Still not convinced, try Modric. You know the list. I’m not saying HK will go this window or even in the summer, just that Levy has a track record in these matters and Pinocchio’s opinion has no bearing on anything.

Oh well, back to the Manure Chelski game. Not bad so far. Some good footie on show. Cheers – Sota.

    Hi Bloggs,

I’m not anti Eriksen and really would like him to do well, but he’s just not doing it right now. He goes missing too often, makes the easy 5 yard sideways pass rather than something more speculative and incisive and bottles it when it comes to crunch tackles. His set pieces can be amazing, but he’s just got to offer more than that if he wants to earn the Sota seal of approval. Which I’m sure is keeping him up at night. 😉

Another reflection on today’s game. Once again, we have a throw in very close to their corner flag. 3 or 4 touches later, Lloris is hoofing the ball up field. It’s not about going backwards to retain possession if your goalie just hoofs it, is it? Gosh, I find that so infuriating. I’m enjoying the fact we’re winning and are currently 3rd, ahead of the Leicester Citeh game, but our football is just dire. Bill Nich would not be happy. Why can’t we win with some style and flair? Oh wait, we don’t have the players. Or the manager. Or the tactics. Or the formation. Or the……time for a lie down. Cheers – Sota.

    Hey Sota,
Mate I hear you about the football quality but remember our players are very, very young and I feel the quality aspect will improve considerably in time. Yes we did ride our luck yesterday and Son did look marginally offside but I loved the impudence of the lad in back heeling the goal! Like you, I grew up with the Spurs tradition of winning with style and elegance- which no doubt is missing now but have to say I am really enjoying the intensity, passion and commitment of our youngsters. I love the fact that we have home grown (and imported ) youngsters playing for the shirt with everything they have and who never give up till its over. My hope is that will mature into a stylish team. There is, my friend, a good deal to celebrate for the moment.
    Best Scoff
PS I agree about Carroll’s performance yesterday but don’t write him off just yet. I have such astrong feeling that he will come good.

    Hi Sota,
I don’t think that you or Riddler are anti Eriksen per se. Indeed your criticism of his recent performances are fully justified. He is not playing anywhere near the level he can, and seems to be coasting through some games. However given the talent he possesses I believe he will come good. He’s young and as such is likely to be a bit inconsistent. Truth is the same can probably be said of Lamela for whom, somewhat perversely, I have been disinclined to cut any slack whatsoever for similar disappointing performances. No one ever accused me of being fair eh? As to achieving the “Sota seal of approval” well now that’s a whole different ball game mate, after all, so many try, and so few succeed. ?
As to the entertainment value of our performances you certainly have a point. You know it’s a strange thing. Since I gave up my season ticket this campaign, and no longer attend regularly, the entertainment aspect of our football…indeed the quality in general…of our football, irritates me far less. I know that’s a really selfish perspective but it’s true. It’s a funny thing, but now that I only watch on the telly, defeats are more irritating and performance levels less important. Perhaps that will change in time. Until then, I can fully understand where you’re coming from, and have every sympathy with your frustration my friend. Incidentally I wrote my light hearted, optimistic little post yesterday, before viewing the game…never a good idea…and having watched it this morning, have to admit that it wasn’t the best ever. Billy Nich certainly wouldn’t have approved…unless of course…like myself…he couldn’t be arsed to go and watch anymore!
All the best for the New Year old friend,
    Bloggs.

Talk about having your cake and eat it!! LOL!!!

For once, just once, in the 35 odd years of following our beloved Spuds (first ever trip to the Lane was Boxing Day 1980!), I would love to win something BIG!! If that means we have to play ugly once in a while to get the points then so be it.
Unfortunately the League is far more competitive than in the good old days and any team playing “caviler” football is likely to lose against teams playing the counter attack game.

Play crap and still lose? Then I’ll join in with the moaning-minnies for sure, but with only two loses this season and third in the table…not yet my cyber chums! I’m enjoying the view!
