HELP! As you all know I can no longer get to matches , due to health so rely on the Box. See Benteke having a fight with Townsend at the end of the match and went straight off. It would seem that the argument was about not passing. Townsend rarely does and seems to prefer to shoot even though there may be other options, never seems to lift his head or is he trying to keep his job by scoring (as Benteke)? Watching on TV they tend to follow attacking. Defence, is Sakho as good as they infer, is he a leader? Does the defence look a better unit?

I missed the Benteke/Townsend incident. Townsend plays well in patches, again not good enough for me and Benteke shows the odd bit of skill at times but not worth the money we paid for him. I hope the Sakho performance was a sign of things to come. He was superb.. and yes a leader in the making . He could be our saviour .. ?!!

We didn’t concede any goals Punch so we can conclude we were more solid, then again Boro weren’t that threatening either. Our defence looks better without Dan and Delaney as they tend to panic and concede easy goals, so Sakho, Van Aanholt and Tomkins in my opinion is a much better more solid defence. Must also mention having a new Jedi in Milivojevic has helped as well. Never rated Townsend although he can be useful at times and hopefully Newcastle will buy him back next season.

Gerry here. Sorry I’ve not been around much recently but will try and engage more now as I love the exchanging of views!
I live up in the northwest so watch local away games as much as possible and saw the home match v Everton earlier. My brother has just retired and goes to nearly all the home games now ( he used to work Saturdays!). He is the first to be critical when they’re rubbish but will be fair. He said that MOTD did not do Palace justice, they were really good, and played some excellent football. Their defence was solid and new midfielder Milivojevic looked commanding. He said the spirit and determination and fight was evident. We need to keep it going at WBA and thereafter.
New handbags for Townsend and Benteke-of course with hindsight T. should have passed but had he scored we’d be singing his praises.
Finally, damaging our own bus? Words fail me ( nearly!!)

I thought we were solid but I am not getting carried away because Boro weren’t testing us and I still get the feeling if someone tests Hennessy he will stuff up and lose us points as he has done on at least 4 occasions.

IMO, big Sam has made the right acquisitions…
