There is no doubt in my mind that loris karius will be a great signing for us. Germany has produced so many good goalkeepers over the years
May 25, 2016 at 8:39 am #1033532Without doubt matip and Karius are klopp signings and he is choosing the players he wants. There’s a good write up from German reporters on this is anfield about him. He seems to be highly rated. We will just have to wait and see. The positive is that this is a klopp signing.
The two positions we need changed our keeper and left back. If Karius is away for 1st 3 games then mignolet starts as number 1 but will be dropped the min he makes a mistake.
May 25, 2016 at 9:11 am #1033605All three signings that Klopp has made have been made by the approval of the committee.
May 25, 2016 at 12:22 pm #1034277You sense Bingo that when a manager comes in he gets a bit of a free hit – I think that was the case with Borini and Allen with Rodgers, though both players did fit the “young” profile the club liked. The concern will be if there will be a discord in the future between them. We’ll have to keep an eye on that one.
May 25, 2016 at 12:27 pm #1034295Well,just logged into the site for the first time today, and what’s the headline on main page? Liverpool close to agreeing a deal to sign Yacine Brahimi from Porto for £45m. Wow. Haven’t seen much of him,but it seems he’s been highly sought after for a while now,and was linked with Ushited not long ago:
May 25, 2016 at 12:37 pm #1034343I guess you must be over the moon ST, a complete unknown player to you worth 45 million.
May 25, 2016 at 12:47 pm #1034409Bingo,I have heard of him, just don’t watch much Portuguese footy, only CL and EL games, but that is a phenomenal amount of money. Credit where it’s due,FSG have really shown their teeth here. With a big price tag comes big expectation,so let’s hope the lad signs and adds his quality in an area we’ve been sorely lacking recently. Exciting
May 25, 2016 at 12:53 pm #1034442As reported by the Metro/Mirror/tabloids…I’d take it with a pinch of salt for the moment.
May 25, 2016 at 2:17 pm #103473345 million is crazy money for someone from the Portugese league, much rather we get Sane.
May 25, 2016 at 2:26 pm #1034919May 25, 2016 at 3:25 pm #1035074Yea I’d take the Brahimi £45mil rumour with a pinch of salt too.
May 25, 2016 at 3:54 pm #1035131Next signing is supposed to be hector. Done deal apparently
May 25, 2016 at 4:26 pm #1035191@sean great news if true!
May 25, 2016 at 5:39 pm #1035368Don’t think that our frugal manager will sign a player at this sky high price. If this Brahimi guy is good enough to persuade Klopp to sign him at 45 M, this player will be as good as Suarez (if not better).
May 25, 2016 at 6:02 pm #1035410Brahimi has the quickest feet of any player we’ve had, since Suarez. But a lot comes down to personality with these sorts of players, they can be very confident in a small team in a small league, then come over here and shrink.
For that reason, I think it would be a risky one, especially at that price. But he’s good, got the sort of qualities we’re sorely lacking in our attack.Hopefully the Hector deal goes through too, out of all the left backs available in this window, him and Serge Aurier are the two best. However Aurier seems a bit of a lunatic, he got filmed saying some things about his manager midway through the season, could be a bit of a loose cannon. Whereas Hector seems to be a much more grounded and reliable option.
May 25, 2016 at 6:10 pm #1035419Apparently the 45mil price tag being touted is due to the ownership rights of the player. Porto want 30mil for him but they only possess 50% of his rights which is where the potential 45mil figure could have come from. It’s still possible we may have agreed a deal worth 1/2 that amount. I just can’t see it. I haven’t seen much of this guy but from my vantage point, the stats do not warrant the exorbitant price tag especially with the player coming from a supposedly weaker league. Not too long ago we refused to meet the asking price for Alex Teixeira. Kudos to FSG if they shell out that kind of money but I can’t help but feel we can get someone better. For that kind of money you’d think we’d be looking at someone like Marco Reus who’s consistently scored and created goals.
May 25, 2016 at 6:12 pm #1035431El Hadji Diouf showed similar qualities in his tape, mentality is key… There is a fine line between being Diouf or Suarez.
May 25, 2016 at 8:35 pm #1035629Looking at the video, he kinda plays like a slighty better version of Raheem Sterling. Not sure wether we should be spending 45 on him though. Leicester discovered Marahez on the cheap and he turns out player of the season. Is he better than Gotze? This is more Marquee strategy than money ball money ball. If the club have done their homework and know this person can bring his A Game to the EPL then let’s get him but if not let’s look at other alternatives…
May 26, 2016 at 7:37 am #1035866Dont believe the hype about 45m for Brahimi, definitely not going to happen at that price. The press is just creating stories, because Brahimi is an Algerian winger, just like Mahrez who was a phenomenal success last season.
As for Hector, this is one player we need on board to become our first choice left back, though I have not seen any stories about his imminent signng yet
May 26, 2016 at 7:54 am #1035887Although Cologne have apparently just signed a left back, Rausch, so maybe Hector move is on the way?
