    LOANS

Mak – I see your point about loaning out benteke to possibly increase his value in future, but personally I just don’t agree with that idea. Been there before with Aqua etc and it just doesn’t seem to work for us. Bet he would pick up and injury then next summer we would sell for about £15-20m! It’s a risk and not worth it, £30m(ish) is good. We recover our money and clean our hands.

Kent – I think klopps change in stance over the “no way we will loan our youth” has changed due to this 75% of games clause. Clearly beneficial for him to play almost every week for a year rather than be what like our 10th choice forward player. Then next summer he is either ready to join our first team, or worth hopefully £2-10mil

Ya, I mentioned the loan idea but I’m not totally confident that everything would go well. I am just thinking about how the price for players has gone totally mad now and this will affect us the next time we go to buy a top player.

It’s a crying shame cause Benteke is a top player who would score loads of goals in a team that suited his style more, with quality players around him (unlike Villa. . and he still did pretty good for them).

Loaning him out is a risk alright, I get your point even though I don’t like the comparison to Aquilani, who was made of wet paper. . . but ya, I’m sure FSG will know where the £30m we could get for Benteke could go either in this window or another. They aren’t bad at the financial side of things now at all, I do like how they won’t be pushed around on deals anymore (they are learning). If they can continue to build a reputation as owners who don’t mess around, we’ll see ourselves getting better deals both in sales and purchasing.

I’m hoping all this activity means we are going for Sissoko. Had an amazing Euro campaign and would be a major asset. Rumours are we are interested and this is one I would love to see happen.

Yeah mak, haha I know where you’re coming from. I totally agree benteke has quality, but it’s just never fitted our style – I was surprised at the signing last year. I’d love to see us make good money. But it is all ifs buts and maybes and best thing is just get roughly what we paid and clean the slate. Be good to sell him abroad if possible though, as he is one who can come back to haunt us in a team that plays to his strengths. And yeah the aqua link was a bit poor but jut trying to show a case where these things haven’t worked out – although I actually feel that has mostly been our dealing with Italian clubs…another topic!!

You’re right, FSG are showing some balls these days and it is good to see. I still don’t quite always get why they do certain things (ie won’t pay a small amount more for zielinski our supposed first choice then go to pay twice the amount on wiji) but I’m not complaining! More excited about wiji anyways and think we seem to be doing better in general in the market.

Making some money off our young players too / demanding they get playing time on their loans / putting in buy back options etc for players like ibe and smith who are sold on – I’m liking the new strategy

What do you guys think about Lucas? Im kinda on the fence a little. On one hand he is aging and doesn’t offer much attacking threat. on the other hand he is experienced and is a welcome calming influence to the team when we have a slew of injuries.

I dont think it will hurt to keep him but if we get a serious offer north of 8million then maybe we should look to let him go and pour that money (and Allen’s money) into buying a quality dynamic centre mid. Mohamed Dahoud for me 🙂

I love Sakho but if reports are true that he is not taking things seriously then we might have to consider getting rid of him as much as I love him.

Remember Rogers dropped him for fitness issues, the drugs scandal and now this?? Sahko would command at least 15 million, then we could buy my favourite defensive wonderkid Jonathan Tah!!

I’m really looking forward to this season. Markovic, Mane, Firmino, Wijnaldum, Sturridge, Ojo, Origi, Ings, Coutinho, Lallana (Woodborne?) Lots of pace and skill and strength in our attack now. Last season we seemed somewhat anemic attack wise. Klopp is going to have fun with these guys for sure this season. I see a lot of goals. Defense wise, just need one or two full backs and CM and we are done for the year…

Don’t be looking forward too much to seeing Markovic.
There’s every chance he could be moved on.

Shanksy, for the reported £35m, I’d give Sissoko a swerve personally. That’s daylight robbery. Yes,we can afford it,and if he wasn’t so unpredictable, maybe I’d think differently, but he strikes me as a player who only really performs when he can be arsed,so it would be a risky move for us in my opinion

True ST can agree on that. However, given our recent track record every signing we make seems to be a potential car crash. Apart from Suarez, Coutinho and Can the rest of our recent additions still have to convince me.

Mr Mak, that’s all good in theory but what if Benteke goes to another club & doesn’t perform?? There’s no guarantee he will get form back at another club IF we loan him out. At the moment we are guaranteed to get almost all the money back we paid for him & I think we could really use that money to fill our squad with quality now. I don’t think it’s worth the risk hanging on to him & I can honestly see it coming back to bite us if we do.

We need a commanding centre half.

ST -” he strikes me as a player who only really performs when he can be arsed”

You can to some extent handle this kind of character if he’s a very good attacking player but you absolutely can’t have it for your key man in CM. Look at all the great CM’s of the PL era. They all had determination and drive coming out their ears.

As for Benteke, I’ll admit that I’ve been swayed by the discussion. If we can get £30m back for him, that sounds good to me.

As for us needing a commanding centre back. I am happy with Sakho and Lovren as a pair, at least until I’ve seen the new guy play a bit. It’s since been confirmed by Klopp that Sakho was sent home for a number of incidents and that will have to be dealt with. He’ll have to work on his professionalism but I wouldn’t make a bigger deal of it than that. I’m hoping that Klopp can turn him around cause I’d be very upset if we were to sell and only get £15m. . . Personally I think Sakho will become a world class centre back if he wants to. I saw what I would consider the start of a player really stepping up a level in ability last season. I’d like to see him get the chance to get back on track and continue improving and helpign to keep our defence solid. . as we all know that we need it.

I really don’t think sakho is leaving guys. He’s had a few issues, yes. But, it is klopps job to manage these guys and that is what he is doing – stamping his authority. 3 strikes and your off the tour….

I think it would take a little more for klopp to want to get rid of what was our 1st choice CB this year. Let’s see how sakho reacts to being sent home – hopefully perfectly professionally and ready to knuckle down.

I’d be disappointed in klopp if he was so brash as to sell a player for having a bad week. I think klopp is better than that.

Yeah Mr Mak I’m with you on Sakho, he’s showing signs of being a top CB & id be very disappointed if he were to be sold. That said good on Klopp drawing a line in the sand & enforcing discipline in the squad.

Transfers in look over after Klopps latest comments. . .

Well there is always the potential for a few to leave I guess.

God, I hope Besiktas actually offer us money for Balotelli. Wouldnt it just be fantastic to get £10m for him? Imagine that we wasted £16m on that guy. The club might as well have just deposited that money in my account and told me to enjoy.

MrMak Yeah, with you on Sakho. I wouldn’t want him sold, and I don’t think he will be. Also agree with you on Sissoko. Too unpredictable, and surely, for that money, there are better options out there?

Well it seems that Klopp thinks Grujic is a better option. I’d be delighted to see that he was ready to step right into the team at least on occasion.

Reports this morning that Klopp will use James Milner as an emergency LB,after Chilwell signed a new contract with Leicester. That worries me. Why not go out and try and sign a better LB than Moreno (can’t be that hard surely)?
