PSG v Chelsea tonight, is Terry really injured or is he bricking it from Zlatan who bullied the s–t out of him in a pre season game.

I will be cheering for PSG tonight. It would be unfair if Chelsea won it and took away Arsenal’s 4th place qualification.

Johnny, you don’t have to do that mate UEFA changed the rules following Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League win to ensure that what happened to Spurs wont happen again and that any club qualifying by League position would not lose their place again to a Champions League winner who didn’t qualify by League position.

That aside lightning rarely strikes in the same place twice and PSG represent a massive hurdle which even if the unlikely were to happen still leaves Barcelona, Bayern and Real Madrid to get past and whilst Chelsea proved in 2012 that the most unlikely can happen a miracle of such a proportions is something else again.

Wonder if it’s on my box tonight, might have to start watching now it’s got to the exciting stage of the comp. Anything can happen but I still can’t see past Barca becoming the first repeat winners.

I know the rules changed but what about the other way around? I mean, if my Spuds win Europa and finish Top4, do the Spuds go in CL as Europa Champions, meaning either the losing finalists go in as winners as Spuds qualified through the League, or Spuds go in as Europa Champions and the Prem gets an extra spot?

banjo, as I understand no. The CL place for EL winners only becomes applicable if the club that wins the EL have not previously qualified for the CL by League position and if they have and win the EL it doesn’t provide an additional place for, for instance the 5th placed team in the PL.

It is possible for the PL to provide 6 places for the CL but only if the PL teams that win the CL and the EL haven’t qualified for the CL by League position.Cheers 999

I think PSG will be comfortable winners tonight. Just can’t see chelsea getting anything from the game. I predict a 3-0 / 3-1 scoreline

9,nien,9… so if Spuds win EL and already qualified then the losing finalist go through? Bloody confusing.. 🙂

Despite being even more awful than Man Utd in the league this season, Chelsea have done alright in the UCL. This is a competition where experience really counts and Chelsea have plenty.
I don’t think there has ever been a team so dominant in a top flight league as PSG have been this season. Their 24 point lead with 51 in goal difference feels like playing good old FIFA ’07 on easy mode. It would suggest the Ligue 1 is crap but the imported players from it into the Premier league suggests it is not. I think Zlatan and Di Maria and co will be just too much for Chelsea this time.

PSG will be well rested and very ready for this game. They are basically on holiday all season except for the 10 – 12 games played in the Champions League. The French league is a big joke but PSG are not. They have more quality than Chelsea.

Chelsea are a different animal in the Champions League and have their fair share of quality as well. I think this will be a “tight” affair over the two legs but I fully expect PSG to beat Chelsea.

banjo, I don’t think so mate a CL place isn’t offered to the runners up of the EL if the EL winners have qualified for the CL.

I really can’t see Chelsea getting passed PSG, Chelsea despite a good win v Newcastle are still some way away from where they need to be and the loss of Terry and Zouma plus the suspension of Matic will be difficult to cope with defensively.

I can only see one of Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern winning it anyway this season and I think this might be the year that Barcelona retain the Champions League for the first time.

Looks like some dodgy re-make of Phantom of the Opera with all those masks running about….

Anyway, just seen the Chelsea line-up, that center of defence looks a bit suspect to me, Chelsea will be doing well to get any sort of result here, and I would include a narrow defeat as a decent result. Lose by 1 and get them back to the bridge would be a good night in my humble opinion.

Chelsea if anything have started to grow and they look the likely team to take the lead.
