Random question but the two year contract offered to Valencia is the first time in my memory we have offered more than a one year deal to a player over 30. Anybody know when last this happened?

Further proof that we’ve got s limited budget. We can’t afford to plug all the holes so hand out contract extensions where the need to plug is less great.

That’s bs @jm1502. Valencia has been one of our best players this season and deserves the contract. Yes we need to invest in a new RB but that can wait till next summer. Much more pressing positions to fill this window.

Well it’s bullshit in your opinion homer, not in mine pal. But you’ve actually confirmed what I said, that we need a new RB but that it’s one of the lesser holes that needs plugging. Looks like we’re on the same page so what’s your problem?

Funny how you pussies are constantly accusing others of spouting bullshit every time you disagree with a post. If you read the fucking post libanski, you’d see that I never mentioned whether the incredibly average Valencia deserved the contract extension or not, just that right back was not the first of many holes to be plugged. And if you’d read homerjay’s response, you’d have seen that he virtually agrees. If you rate Valencia fine, that’s about what I’d expect from you.

I don’t think any club has the funding to fill all the gaps we need filled. In fairness to Valencia he has made right back his own, he just gets his head down and works. Admittedly he’s not a natural RB but he’s good enough. This is a guy who kept Darmian out of the role and regardless of what you think of Darmian he was the starting Italian RB at the last world cup and tore England to shreds

He’s made right back his own killy because there’s no one else. Would you actually have this guy at right back if we had the funds to sign a good one? If your answer to that question is yes, then you should seriously be considering what your ambitions are for United, because this guy, along with the likes of Carrick, Fellaini, Mata, Jones, Darmian and quite a few others are just not good enough, yet there seems to be no signs of any of them leaving.

Guradiola already splashed £158 million on 4 players. It is an awful lot of money

    Bernando Silva: £43 million
    Ederson Sanata: £35 million
    Kyle Walker: £41.5 million
    Benjamin Mendy: £38.5 million

Can all of Guardiola success as a manager be put down to the money he’s spent?

I thought Pep was supposed to be the best manager in the world though? He’s outspending everyone else and getting shit results?
JM – I think you are just plain wrong about Valencia mate. When most of the fans, all the pundits and a large portion of football managers are saying what a great season he’s had – then you’re repetitive argument against him just falls flat on it’s face I’m afraid. Cheers.

Yep, we disagree on Valencia happy and neither of us will change our minds on that. But on the Citeh transfer rumours, I’m a great believer that managers can do so much with players. So for instance, I happen to think we’ve just won the Europa Cup with a shit side because of Mourinho’s tactics. Likewise, Ferguson won a couple of titles with pretty ordinary sides. But usually, the teams with the best players will win and Guardiola knows that. He also knows if he doesn’t deliver next season he’s fucked no matter what his name is. So I think Citeh are about to blow everyone out of the water and quickly. B Silva is a top midfielder and the rumours about Kyle Walker and Mendy are strong – they’re good players happy. Also linked with a top young keeper. And if they get a CB in they really will be good to go mate.

With regards to Utd, a deal has been struck for Griezmann and Victor Lindelof to join us this summer.

@jm, if we had a better RB I’d be in the leave Valencia on the bench gang, but we don’t and it’s not a position we’ll sort this year therefore he’ll more than do. He’s been getting stronger and stronger and for a man who didn’t play there until he was 28/29 his commitment to get better is admirable. Even when/if we get a better.right back I’d keep Valencia. He’s a work horse, he’s no frills and low maintenance. He shuns the limelight and just gets on with his job. Him and Herrera should be held up as shining examples for every academy prospect in the world, this is where hard work gets you. The value system he portrays of a moderate talent with a huge heart and willingness to work and run himself into the ground and through walls is exactly what any fan ahould be proud to have at their club. He’s no first teamer but he’s the ideal squad player because he’ll work, run, train, and do exactly what he’s asked to do because he knows how lucky he is. If you’ve read this guys story, he knows exactly how lucky he is and then some and he’ll work his bollocks off to keep it and stay going as long as he can because if he hadn’t made it as a footballer he’d probably be dead or in jail.

Well that’s admirable killy, although I’d say hard work should be the minimum requirement for a 100k a week footballer, but we won’t win the PL or CL with players like Valencia and Herrera, and plodders like Mata, Fellaini, Carrick as regulars. Have we really been reduced to lauding average players that work hard mate, I mean fuck me. As always, time will tell.

@jm, If you’ll note, I said he’s a squad player and he works a hell of a lot harder than some players who are vastly more talented than him. He should be lauded for his commitment and hard work, it is the least we should expect but we don’t always get it. We get hard work from Valencia, Herrera, Mata, we never got it from Depay, Januzaj and a few other talented no hopers, I know who I’d rather have

Plus every team needs hard working squad players of average to good talent to support and do the dirty work for the top top players.

JM – Yeah City need a massive summer and then a massive season. If not then they’ve essentially wasted over a billion pounds. I would question any team, with title ambitions, who think signing Kyle fucking Walker is going to improve their chances. He’s very average, limited defensively and doesn’t do that much better going forwards. Sagna is better than him!
Silva seems like a good player but fucking hell, why do they need him? They’ve got De Bruyne, David Silva, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Nolito, Jesus and Toure. Why on earth would they need another player in that attacking midfield position?
They need 4 defenders and a GK to get back to the top.
Question for you, if they’re good to go with 3 players – what will it take for us to be good to go. Considering they’ve been no better than us this season. They’ve won fuck all.
