This might be a distinct possibility? Would it be worth it? Or would we be paying DDG plus cash for Varane or would it be Varane plus cash for DDG?

Very rarely see swap deals these days. It’s been said before that this season’s problems haven’t been in defence. We’ve got the joint best defensive record in Europe alongside Barca and Bayern. Sooooooo.

Our main transfer target has got to be Griezman I think. Carrick needs to be replaced as well, that Bakayoko guy who’s been mentioned looks good. But Griezman will give us that extra edge going forwards, with Rashford, Miki and Martial it would be an amazing attacking line-up next season. Pace, power and goals galore!

Yeah but if we’re going to lose DDG anyway, and it’s looking likely then we may try to get a player from Real. Varane is someone who we could very much do with despite the defence playing well this season. Him and Bailly would both be French speakers which would mean they could communicate easily also, especially considering Varane probably has very little Spanish. Question is, would he come if we tried to get him? I mean we can all say a player should want to come to O.T. but as a player why leave Real?

Yeah, well Di Maria did. I’m not sure about which Real Madrid players i’d like. They tore that team apart last night but it wasn’t a very good advert for the Spanish League was it? It could have been about 15 goals if they’d been a bit more clinical. So i’m not sure which ones would instantly take to the Premier League.
I think i’d hate to lose Big Dave though. It’s not easy finding a keeper that can deal with the pressure of OT, we’ve seen some horrendous ones in the past. And it even took De Gea a good while to settle. I think Mourinho will be trying to keep him at all costs. I would hate watching the settling in period of another goal keeper. Dropping crosses, bottling one on ones and being massively under the microscope with every little thing he does.
£66m is pretty good money for a keeper though…

Oblak’s reps in Manchester today apparently, he’s better than DDG at the moment imho. We’d have him for at least a decade, no Madrid homesickness or shite like that. Well worth the investment if true

Too many coincidences for it not to happen. Its clear that Madrid want a new keeper. It’s even more clear that DDG wants to go back to Spain. From Utd’s point of view, it should be about timing. If Oblak is realistically available then we should do the business this summer. DDG is undoubtedly world class but the constant will he wont he regarding the RM move is a distraction we don’t need. Varane might be a possibility. If we end up with Pogba, Martial and Greizmann at the club it could be tempting for the lad. No matter what happens, massive summer in the transfer window if we are going to move forward next year!

I agree N1xer, it does seem that de Gea will go back to Madrid this summer so we need to make sure we get what we want out of the transfer. We’re in better shape now, little Ed has started to grow into his role and de Gea himself is tied in to a decent contract…so there will be no need of pulling the wire out of the fax machine at five to midnight on deadline day and hopefully no mention of Kaylor bloody Navas. If there’s Madrid players Mourinho fancies and they open to the idea of playing at Old Trafford then it would be fantastic to negotiate a swap….but no cast offs and no players over thirty who Madrid don’t want. I’m not sure Varane would be keen to leave Madrid though.

But they want the best goalie in the world off of us and although he wants to go to Madrid, they need to be prepared to cough up either a massive transfer fee or a very good player in return. If they start with all their sly tactics Ed should just tell them to go and finger their dirty Spanish hoops.

The ball is in our court at the moment no doubt and we hold all the cards as DDG is willing and I don’t think Courtois is as willing to move given how Chelski are doing under Conte. So we have a willing player who knows that Real have to cough up before we sell him, and understands that much. I don’t think he’ll sulk the way Costa did if the move doesn’t transpire

I’ve said before and.will again, is it just Madrd DDG wants or is it specifically Real? If it’s just Madrid then approach Atletico about a swap deal involving Oblak

I thought that…call his bluff on it, I’m astonished a loyal Athletico lad is so keen to join Franco’s white whores.

With Atletico being so strong you’d think it would make sense but for some reason the president there seems to love the coin. Would he really give up the chance to make £40m+ of Oblak? They seem to like to pick up talent cheap and develop them. Plus, if Simone and a few of their top players go, would they be still challenging at the top of European football? And even if they were, i don’t think they can pay DDG the kind of money he is looking!

The fact that he came within a late fax of signing for Real i think proves his loyalties are easily bought. Like most modern day players!

I don’t know if they could pay DDG top wages either tbh. I’ve a soft spot for Atleti and if Oblak leaves would love to see him at Utd with DDG back there. Think the best deal for Utd would be straight cash or cash plus player with DDG going to Real though

Honestly this guy should just wear a personalized Real Madrid jersey and get this over with. He is an absolute plum sack who never EVER criticizes Real and is forever trumpeting them to sign whoever has beem whispered to join them. DDG doesn’t want to leave, Jose has been on record numerous times that he won’t entertain his transfer, yet this bellend comes up with a NONSENSE article just to stoke the flames. LVG rotated keepers last season for the Europa nd League cup, Jose has done the same since September yet this peacock has been suddenly surprised to see DDG on the bench recently….

Read this and be annoyed as well fellas….

God help us, he’s nothing special. I’d prefer Keylor Navas to him
