What do you think of our chance away against Spurs? They must be very motivated to stop our winning run but also to avenge last season where we spoiled their title shot.

Pedro or Willian? Matic or Fabregas?

Spurs looked great. They scored 4 away against Watford today. Kane, Alli, Eriksen. And they have strong defense in Lloris, Alderweireld and Vertonghen. For me the key is not to let their midfield dictate us. Wanyama and Dembele are pretty sure to start. And we have to be very careful of their wing backs. Rose and Walker could create havoc. Moses and especially Alonso must help our defense to block any space for their wing backs

Aindro, tbh I would gladly take a draw right now. I expect Matic to come in for Fabregas and Williian to retain his place with Pedro and Cesc on the bench. Offensively though we have plenty that should worry Spurs but they will be right up for this one as will their fans.

Funny to hear Poch saying the whole of the PL and their fans will be supporting Spurs in the hope that they beat Chelsea. COYB’s.

Even ex Chelsea player and supporter Ray Wilkins saying that Spurs must beat Chelsea for the good of the Premier League. Laughable.

Is Alonso injured? We don’t really have backup for him. If he is injured, probably Azpi would fill the LB and Terry or Iva would fill the CB.

Sunderland getting an unlikely late draw v Liverpool has lifted a bit of the pressure on us ahead of the Spurs game and gives us almost a bit of a free hit at Spurs with nobody being able to get closer to us than 5 points.

If Alonso really is injured and doesn’t make the Spurs game then Conte should give him a really severe talking to for being foolish enough to pre warn Spurs of that. On the other hand it could have been done to mislead Spurs.?

If Alonso doesn’t make it Pedro is an option he’s two footed and Del Bosque trialled playing him right back for Spain and playing Pedro at left wing back would create the least disruption to the team.

So, do I as a Liverpool fan hope for a Chelsea loss in the hope of eventually catching you guys, or do I look behind us at Spurs and hope for a draw?

    Torn.

While I can’t lie that I am happy that Liverpool lost points after having led twice, for me we can’t look too much to other teams’s result at the moment. 5 points aren’t that far. I remember when Keegan’s Newcastle led by so many points yet at the end Ferguson’s Man Utd caught them.

Spurs away will be our toughest test, especially they are doing well at the moment and are very motivated to beat us and to end our run. Nobody suspended or injured on their side neither if I’m not mistaken.

Hopefully we can do well against them away. I don’t know but I think Pedro deserves a start as it’s him who scored our first against Spurs at home. (and I am no fan of Pedro, just a feeling that he would do well as he was in a good form before his suspension)

personally I dont think Spurs could win the league this season but at home they more than capable of defeating any team. The record of 14 wins over 2 seasons would also be nice to equal but I am hopIng for a draw at least.

I think the Liverpool result of last night may have changed the complex for us now. we can even afford to draw now against Spurs. although i think Conte will go for the win and won’t compromise his style. on the other hand Pochettino is also a manager who never compromises his style and will not sit back to get a draw. so my prediction will be we will see a good game and end to end stuff from both sides. with quality Spurs possess, the likes of Kane, Alli, Erikssen, Son and Dembelle. and the players we possess, like Hazard, Costa, Willian, Pedro, Fabregas. it will be a fascinating contest. here is me hoping that we nick the 3 points.

For me, Spurs is the first of 3 big tests for us in the coming weeks and I honestly believe that after the Arsenal game if we are still top and have a points gap then the league is ours to lose

Spurs appear to be hitting the form they had last season and both Kane and Ali seem to be working well together and are amongst the goals. However, I do feel that their opposition for the last few games has worked in their favour and so it is hard to be totally clear exactly how well they are doing…

Of course they will be motivated and are at home – but surely we will be just as motivated…? I think we know that we have the game to beat them but I think it will be close and could come down to individual mistakes or brilliance on the day

While it would be good to set a new record in the end it is the longer term goal that is most important and while I do not think we will lose I would happily take a point now especially after Liverpool slipped up yesterday. KTBFFH

Spurs is no bigger test than the rest of the teams in the league. Spurs is just a different kind of test.

Ask Liverpool who drew to Sunderland yesterday ask Man City who got battered by Leicester a few games back.

Each game brings a new tactical challenge to figure out and over come.

Pedro as a full back would be interesting as it would increase our attacking threat, not too sure about the defensive part

Pedro at left wingback! What! That would be absolute suicide!
Alonso and cahill down that side got hit time and time again against spurs last time and looked suspect that game. If we have no alonso if has to be a proper defender there. Propbly azpi with terry or more likely zouma playing in the back 3. We really need another wing back bought in january to see us through

I also think potch will approach the game differently to last time. Spurs battered us for 45 mins and got burnt out second half. I think hell play the long game this time. Conte might just sit back for a while. I wxpect alot of pressure first half again. Think spurs would be happy with a draw

I really think that Spurs will apply the same pressure like last time. It was working until Pedro did a wonder. Glad if Alonso will be fit. We are light on left wing back. And please no Pedro as wing back.
I see this match as our biggest test so far, not to say that other matches aren’t important as we saw how difficult it was to beat WBA, Sunderland etc, but Spurs are very motivated to end our record (see: http://www.espnfc.us/english-premier-league/story/3031315/harry-kane-tottenham-fully-focused-on-ending-chelseas-winning-run) and also to seek vengeance of last season.

In terms of performance if someone offered me a draw now, I wouldn’t take it. We have just won 13 on the trot, including against some very good teams, so why shouldn’t we think we can go to WHL and win? However, strategically taking a point is a much better result for us than it is for Sp*rs, given they are so many points behind us, so I certainly wouldn’t be unhappy with a draw. I also think Sp*rs still havnt developed a big club mentality. You have P*ch and K*ne yapping in the press about stopping our record, whilst all Conte does is say what a good team they are and how what a great job P*ch has done. They always do this when we have to play them in big games, and all it does is pile more pressure on themselves, to the point that they completely lost it last season on their “night of shame” at the Bridge. Maybe they will beat us, but the time to talk about is after they have done so. All in all, I am confident we can go there and get a result. If we win and get the record so much the better, but more importantly having 52 points after 20 games will put us in a very strong position to go on and win the league from. It would mean that if we pick up an average of two points per game from hereonin (which we are more than capable of), we would end up with what I would consider an unassailable 88 points. C’MON THE CHELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish this match was tonight. Who wants to watch Arsenal away to Bournemouth? Bournemouth have a horrible camera setup for TV and of course it isn’t anywhere near as big a game as this one.
