Oh yes indeed. I agree we could have had more than 6. I wish in a way, we’d have that 9-0 scoreline like when we beat Palace (I think) back in 1990 at Anfield.
Sturridge fair play to the fella has been struck with a bit of voodoo and should have easily been rewarded with a hat-trick for his efforts.
November 6, 2016 at 10:12 pm #1306566But we didn’t keep a clean sheet….. Ha who gives toss after that, that was something else. Literally looked like scoring every time we went forward.
The challenge in front of us was not to be taken for granted, they were looking pretty solid & difficult to score against & were in a good position on the ladder for a reason. It’s almost like our lot has said “hard to score against hey, we’ll see about that”.
Holy **** I’m finding it very difficult to remain grounded but there is a long long way to go. The thing for me is it’s across the whole team, there’s no relying on a Sturridge or Suarez to get the goals or do something special, everything is done as a unit.
Just to make sure we do remain grounded look at the table, manu are supposedly having a horror season yet if we have 2 slip ups we could be even on points with them & out of the top 4.
S*** if this keeps up Sean & I might have to find another forum because the team is facing & conquering all tests put in front of them & there’s nothing to be negative about lol. How good is it to be a red at the moment as I high 5 ? myself.November 6, 2016 at 10:21 pm #1306578Number 8, you’re one of us now mate lol 😀 Sean is secretly in glee too 😀
Nice one mate 🙂
November 6, 2016 at 11:24 pm #1306629Songman. ..Klopp obviously has turned Hendo in to what he wants as a defensive midfielder and a leader. I’ve just been so impressed with him this season. I think his goal at Chelsea boosted his confidence and made him realise that he was captain on merit. I always felt he lacked self belief…not anymore. As I said in my last post, he kind of slips under the radar in the most of the post match rave reviews and I just thought he deserves a big up from us on this forum.
November 7, 2016 at 2:07 am #1306653Hightown, yes on Henderson. I mean I didnt have him as MOTD but TT gave him a 6 for the match, which was just lazy in my opinion.
It’s hard to pick out a MOTD for us these days.
I do now really believe that we are going to win the league. I’m not afraid of being wrong or jinxing etc etc. that’s my opinion.
November 7, 2016 at 7:41 am #1306740Nil, im over the mmon with our form mate. Great coing into work ona dull cold monday morning with a spring in my step mate but as klopp says nothing is done in november. He says himself, a lot can chnage and 11 games is nothing. Great to be top but its just very very early days.
I slated henderson and ginger anad afew others pointed out that he was injured a lot last season and it held him back. He has stepped up. He is looking and performing like a captain now. His passing has been super. Hes not getting carried away. His interviews are good. Delighted for the lad and i really hope he keeps proving me and others wrong. Would love to see the lad lift a trophy.
November 7, 2016 at 9:39 am #1306920Sean, you’re absolutely right mate and fully agree with Jk’s sentiments that nothing has been won. We have a very long way to go and a lot of effort to put in.
Great to wake up and go to work with a smile on my face knowing for at least 2 weeks, we’re sitting top of the league 🙂
November 7, 2016 at 10:00 am #1306962Hightown, last season I got into some very aggressive debates (with the usual suspects) on this forum defending Henderson, as they were using his injuries as an excuse to unfairly criticise him.
Henderson is improving all the time, and has impressed Klopp who will raise his game even further. He gives 100% on the pitch, and there is nothing more you can ask from a player. But as you say he just needs to be more confident, and that will lift his game to a whole new level
November 7, 2016 at 10:11 am #1306986As for Sturridge yesterday, that is the Sturridge I want to see, moody, arrogant, hungry and trying to score at every opportunity, but also creating chances.
Did anyone see how fast he took the corner that led to the 6th goal, the ball was actually moving. He just did not want to leave the pitch without scoring!!!
Of course I would always start with our usual front 3, but the intense competition for places is what has led to our good start this season, and hopefully beyond. And with the intensity of the Premiership, you can only win it if you have a strong squad anyway
November 7, 2016 at 10:31 am #1307037I always found it strange when posters would be saying that Henderson has proven them wrong and that they were prepared to sell him after last season. It was a completely unfair comparison. He was either injured last season or trying to come back from injury so completely unfair to judge him. We are now seeing the Henderson of 14/15 and especially 13/14 back again albeit in a deeper position. His passing is massively underrated and it is he that keeps us ticking and moving forward. His passing dictates the tempo of our game. How TT gave him 6 for yesterday’s match is baffling but I’ve learnt to ignore their ratings.
November 7, 2016 at 10:45 am #1307076The best thing about us at the moment is our style of play, yesterday was a perfect example & hammering Watford as we did,has been on the cards for a while.
Last season I often came on here about us having too many average players, but what an amazing turnaround it has been, I still cannot believe it & hopefully we will continue in the same vane.
The likes of Matip & Mane of course has helped, but others Lallana, Milner,Henderson are now playing so well & to this add Firmino who last season although scoring a few, was a little weak at times, as hoped, he seems to have adjusted to the pace of the PL.With all this said, again hopefully continue playing well & at least get into the top 4, getting into the top 4 will be above my expectations & will be a happy chap.
November 7, 2016 at 11:10 am #1307121Ginger…I know what you’re saying about Hendo but for me this Hendo is an improvement even on the 13/14 version. He has added leadership to his already developing game, and can influence a game more now than he did then. For me 2 or 3 years ago he played well when the team played and wasn’t so clever when the team weren’t performing. He’s more proactive now and is one of the best players in his position in the Premiership. And 6 out of 10 for yesterday, Teamtalk????
November 7, 2016 at 11:47 am #1307241I suppose it was only natural that as he got older his leadership skills improved plus he has been given the added responsibility of the captaincy.
November 7, 2016 at 1:01 pm #1307379People are going to hate me for saying this but Henderson is a good player but not world-class…he’s more of a Drinkwater type player rather than a Kante… But that comparison doesnt or shouldn’t be seen as an insult Drinkwater was critical for Leicester last season and I didn’t think they would have won it without him… Henderson is a good utility player and that versatility will benefit us in the long run.
November 7, 2016 at 1:10 pm #1307400mwake, nobody said Henderson was world class, I certainly didn’t.
He is a solid grafter who gives 100%, and makes the most of his abilities, scoring spectacular goals from time to time. I would liken him to Milner.
Put it this way, he is a typical Klopp player, a solid midfielder and team player who gives his all for the team and will run all day
November 7, 2016 at 1:29 pm #1307430Henderson isn’t world class yet, but he is a better player than Mwake gives him credit for.
November 7, 2016 at 1:49 pm #1307469Of course he’s not a Kante.
Kantes job is basically just to protect the back 4 while Hendersons is so much more. He sets the tempo of our team at the min.November 7, 2016 at 3:57 pm #1307721We have a number of players who are currently playing is arguably world class form but just like you can’t hand the title out in November, you can’t hand out that kind of label after 11 excellent games.
There isn’t a team on the planet who played better football than us on the weekend. Leicester won the league last season by being the most effective team, the day of the individual/superstars doing it for you are gone.
November 9, 2016 at 5:58 pm #1310709Excellent post MrMakeveli…I know Chelsea justly got a load of plaudits for their performance against Everton but modern journalists sometimes go overboard. Man City 6- United 1 was a far more impressive performance of recent years from TWO top world class teams yet from the looks of the game, mid table Everton looked like they rolled over. Compare that with the far more tenacious (also mid table) Watford who lost 6-1 but still managed 8 shots on target! Im not trying to take away from Chelsea they beat what was in front of them (and I admit I was extremely impressed and a little jealous lol), but I think we had the more difficult opponent in Watford, and we broke the record for having the most shots on target in a single game. Now with that all said we’ll probably lose to Everton 5-0 when we play them, haha!!! Roll on the rematch with Chelsea at anfield, the way both teams are playing successful attractive football it will probably be a crucial title match.
November 10, 2016 at 6:18 pm #1312020Well anything can happen in the derby, football can go out the window as you know. As for our match with Chelsea at home, who knows what that will be like. It has the potential to be brilliant but as you will also very well know, these types of games can end with both sides cancelling each-other out. As good as Chelsea are right now, I’m not afraid of them. I honestly think that right now we could beat anyone in the world.
Will we still be in this form when the Chelsea match comes around though is the thing. Long may it continue.
