The noises coming out of Arsenal are that Wenger is under pressure for his job. But we hear stories all the time, being leaked by the club. So it is more than likely just all words, but i personally think this could be a turning point, if he loses to Milan and we are out of the EL then that could just push even his most loyal board supporters over the edge.
No doubt Wenger promised to fill their pockets with CL money again for his new contract, if he cant do this by the start of next season it could see them get rid.
One can hope anyway.
Interesting stat i saw yesterday – Westbrom are the only team in the league with a worse run of form than us. They are currently bottom of the table!!!March 5, 2018 at 10:53 am #1607193I really feel for you guys. If u ask the majority of liverpool fans, who they like the most next, alot will answer that arsenal are their second team, despite the rivalries for places at the top of the league. For many years arsenal and liverpool have shared some great memories on the pitch and have always had mutual respect for each other. Wenger WAS a great manager and he brought great success to the club. He just needs to retire without his respect being shredded. Its like watching someone you love suffering with dementia who is slowly and sadly losing it. Hope things turn around for you guys. All the best for the rest of the season.
March 5, 2018 at 11:25 am #1607215Cheers Harry. Yes Liverpool and Arsenal are proper clubs unlike Chelsea & Man City.Sadly we are losing that status as we become more of a Corporation and less of a Football Club. We should have gone for Klopp when we had the chance. If he can sort out your defence youre going to have a great side. He has to keep Salah though.

March 5, 2018 at 1:37 pm #1607325Noises coming out the club that a lot of the players feel the problem isn’t Wenger’s coaching but the lack of any, from the manager or any of the coaching staff. You never know where these things come from or how much truth there is to it but it’s highly believable.
I’ve talked before about how Wenger coached the Invincibles – pretty much let them do their own thing on the pitch and with quality players like Bergkamp, Henry and Pires, that was probably the best way. Not just that but they were all leaders and no one was afraid to pull anyone else up if they weren’t pulling their weight. We still have a lot of quality in this side but they’re not in the same league as that team – they need direction and no one in that squad will give the rest a mouthful when they need it.
I know this is wishful thinking but Wenger needs to do the decent thing and announce now he’s leaving at the end of the season. Failing that, the board must do it. Aubameyang must already be wondering how soon he can move and you can be sure that if we’d put his signing off until the summer, he would already have changed his mind about coming to us.
An announcement would do several things. It would improve the atmosphere at the Emirates and the mood amongst the players tenfold. The board would have plenty of time to find a manager the players will want to play for and who knows? It could even give us enough of a boost to win the Europa. I’m sure there are still plenty of players who would like to give him a good send-off, even if fewer and fewer of us fans do.
As I say, wishful thinking but, at the same time, even Wenger must realise that one way or another, he won’t be here next season. Considering his planet-sized ego, you’d think he’d prefer walking to being pushed.
March 5, 2018 at 3:24 pm #1607393Al – that would be perfect wouldnt it, this season is over and he really cant do much more dmage than already has. Give him this season, we will all know where we are at. the players, like you say might just pick up the tools and start playing again.
The mood would 100% change if the fans knew he was going. No matter how far backwards he has taken us in last 10 years he was still responsible for so much. He changed football on the whole in the this country. when it goes it will be sad but it would be nice if the fans could get behind the team knowing change is coming.
Unfortunately he does have another year left on his contract and he wont break that! so the atmosphere is only going to get more toxic, its been simmering for a long time and boiling point is coming for the majority. i hope every game from now until end of season is as empty as last Thursday. that should push the board into a decision.March 5, 2018 at 4:32 pm #1607440Problem is he won’t leave voluntarily. He has said that he is the best guy for the job! How more delusional can someone be? He has to be sacked now. The fact of the matter is that the team’s confidence is at an all time low! We will lose on Thursday, and then what? Bring in someone in the interim. Or for that matter even the long term appointment now. He would have the time to assess the squad which is full of deadwood, I should say, and decide how to address the monumental task of rebuilding the team. The million dollar question is whether Kroenke will back the new manager financially. I doubt that very much. Last January we had to sell three players to get Auba in! I truly believe we are finished as a top team. And this saddens me, and pisses me off too.
March 5, 2018 at 6:04 pm #1607476I’ve heard for the longest time how much wenger cares for the club, from certain wengerites who still exist. If he really cared for the club he’s leave now,and let someone else takeover with whom we would have atleast a chance to win the Europa.
To be honest,i’ve had it with shouting at wenger. The board are so cuplpable it’s beyond belief. What’s going on not even happens at a mid-table club.March 5, 2018 at 6:22 pm #1607483I dont think Wenger understand in his own mind that the best thing is to leave. He still believe he can turn it around and therefore stays. I dont doubt he loves the club and i dont think anyone should question that. It cant be easy to leave something you have loved doing for so long. Agree he should know whats best for the club but thats not the same thing as saying he does not love the club if he did not he would have left years ago.
Im not saying he is right by staying just saying that its very common that you kling on to something you love when you dont have that much else in your life. Its part of getting old and he is by no means alone in klinging on to something you love way too long.
He should have been told so by the board then we would not have been here.
