Our makeshift defence against in form Spurs was a disaster waiting to happen and so it did. Once again Foster saved us from a hiding. When you have central defenders age 33 and 37 plus a half fit 32 year old full back playing against young and quick forwards it’s a double disaster. Add to this a midfield who couldn’t pass wind and were non-existent for most of the first half with perhaps the exception of Phillips and Yacob. The lack of strength in depth certainly showed today and didn’t we miss Jonny Evans. Once again we had no shots on target (we had one but the whistle had blown for offside) and we looked like the team from several months ago. We desperately need some quality this January in defence, midfield and attack but I can’t see us getting it.

We have three games where we should get seven points. t’s no disgrace losing to the Spurs team in their current form. What is a disgrace is not giving them anything of a game. Also I’m not sure what Leko has to do to get more game time. Wolves played a lot of youngsters today against the Villa – they were eager, fast and got rave reports from Pat Murphy. Of course they have to do it; they don’t have the players or the money to do anything else. So what do we do? We give Field two minutes of game time while our ageing centre-backs are being overrun. We have a tidy points total and we have achieved that by TP playing a more progressive game that many of us thought him incapable of and by beating teams who are potentially relegation rivals. Fair enough and well-done but surely now the club’s strategy for moving on a level needs to be established. Evans and Nyam should be the regular centre-back pairing and Fletcher should never be asked to play for 90 minutes. And Rondon, from becoming a really dangerous striker has now reverted to a lonely striker ploughing a lone furrow. Why, when what we showed a few games ago was so much more exhilarating and dangerous. We’ve now played five of the big six in recent weeks and our points tally is nil, and our goals tally is for 0 against 13.

Our best chance against Spurs today was to play Brunt in midfield and Galloway at LB. Also think Leko should’ve come on. Leko can hold on to the ball and you need much better possession against teams like Spurs. Brunt will never be a LB, but is often excellent in midfield and gives us a real threat with his passing. McCauley being pushed to left sided defence was big mistake. Pulis is a strange one. At times he has an understanding of what is needed and yet other times, totally clueless.
That said, the biggest problem against Spurs was the players, lost every second ball, couldn’t string a pass and stood off them the whole game bar 5 minutes of the 2nd half. Dele Ali does the same wandering trick every game and yet we constantly didn’t have anyone tight or remotely close to him. Schoolboy stuff really. Same goes for Eriksen. Bit of a horror show from everyone today ….. except Foster of course.

Very poor game from ALBION,i have never ever as long as i have been an ALBION supporter seen them playing so badly like yesterday,Totally outplayed by Spurs, but i was not surprised when i saw our defense, old McAley and poor Ollson in the midle cant work at all, they are both over the hill sorry to say.Our midtfield was very poor too, loosing the ball all the time and our captain was terribly.Only Foster played well, very well IMO.We need players in asap no doubt.Norway baggie
