Come on man, this is getting beyond a joke since the turn of the new year. I hate more than anything BEING BULLIED ON HOME SOIL. we’ve not won a league game, and now this is affecting us in Cup Competitions.
Why aren’t we winning games like we used to?
Is this sincerely down to Mane?
Serious pain, not happy at all. 🙁 🙁 🙁
January 25, 2017 at 9:33 pm #1422833It’s as though we’ve reverted back to our 2015/2016 spec under Klopp since Mané’s gone.
January 25, 2017 at 11:43 pm #1422930Mane isn’t the only difference but what he brings is probably the most important ingredient to our attacking recipe.
We’re a little over-done also!
January 25, 2017 at 11:52 pm #1422937Mikus for long has made a sound point on other threads that we lack Leadership. As for others laughing at us, no problem, I’ll die.
January 26, 2017 at 2:53 am #1422955“no problem, I’ll die”
Southampton beat us and you want to die………lol
January 26, 2017 at 3:01 am #1422957WW, you’re that idiot who just points and laughs. There is nothing else to you and if it weren’t for the pointing and laughing you wouldn’t have any impact on anyone ever because you are completely void of substance or character.
Nil, you can’t let football get you this down. I also think you need to take a week off the drink and get a bit of exercise in. It’ll do wonders for your mentality.
January 26, 2017 at 3:08 am #1422958Cool story bro.
January 26, 2017 at 3:11 am #1422959Mikus is right. With Mane gone we got the same personnel in attack as in 15/16. So performance will be back to that level. Thats why im questioning the owners/klopp for not strengthening
January 26, 2017 at 8:32 am #1423019Ya and its a good point, not a pleassant thought but we’re also knackered. We’re so bloody tired that it would almost be plausible for us to use the 2nd string for a PL match and just play for a draw against a weaker team. I mean it’s a crazy idea but given how we’re not able to play football anymore, the lads could use 2 weeks off ha
January 26, 2017 at 8:41 am #1423022mental statement, they need 2 weeks off? professional footballers? have they played more than any other PL team? i get your saying that because of the high pressing game but i dont think you generally put in that much more of a shift than other teams
January 26, 2017 at 8:48 am #1423027ok, quick bit of research has put me right! you might be on to something here….
Distance covered by PL teams so far this year….top 10
1. Liverpool 1282.4KM
2. City 1265.4 (so much for Peps possession game!)
3. Burnley 1254.2
4. West Brom 1248.9
5. Spuds 1245.5
6. Boro 1235
7. Chelsea 1222.8
8. Swansea 1219.2
9. Arsenal 1219
10. Bournemouth 1214.3to be fair although top not much more than the rest in the top 10 ….man up liverpool players 😉
January 26, 2017 at 9:08 am #1423045We have a few players that have taken knocks and had injuries recently. I think a few of the team are not 100% fit which is having an effect. Its not just about losing players but the ones we have are not quite right at the minute. Coutinho always takes a few weeks to get back up to his high standards.
January 26, 2017 at 10:06 am #1423097Steveo maybe its not just the distance covered in PL matches but a culmination of too much exertion/running in pre season, daily training and matches as this dutch guy has pointed out again

January 26, 2017 at 11:24 am #1423158My take: Mane is a big factor and is key to the way Liverpool play. His absence has been felt harder than expected.
Without him, Liverpool have moved their frontline around and a rusty Sturridge has hugely disappointed. Expect the Reds to recover, but there may be a few more bumps before they do….January 26, 2017 at 11:27 am #1423160I wasn’t totally serious about resting players in a league match but Ya cheers for the stats Steve, I think on top of that we will have a smaller use of unforced rotation than other teams in the PL but maybe more importantly I bet we would have made less subs than anyone else with those subs also spending the least amount of time on the pitch than anyone else. It’s a total guess on my part, I’m not sure how you could even prove that. Will some website have that kind of info? I’m on my phone anyway so I’m not gonna look now but I would love to really delve into what’s gone right and wrong for us this season beyond what is widely understood on this page already. . . Which is almost everything cause we’re football geniuses 😀
January 26, 2017 at 11:32 am #1423171Also worth noting that although the difference in distance covered is technically very small, its would be physiologically difficult as you’re talking about doing more physical work at the upper end of physical fitness limitations.

shows number of players used (in the PL only) this year so far
Pool one of the fewest but more than the current league leaders, though some of us get further in cup comps and have more cup comps to play in so all that needs taking in to account
i do think pool have one of the weakest squads though, great first 11 when all fit (and not knackered) its the poor cover and less cover that is the issue and also contributes to lack of Plan B etc
January 26, 2017 at 5:01 pm #1423399Arsene Wenger and Conte considered the league cup as low priority and I don’t think they are fools. The end of year schedule can derail one whole season no reason whatsoever to pile more fixtures in. We played three or four matches more than those two, and Spurs were eliminated earlier so we have been asking for trouble.
January 26, 2017 at 5:40 pm #1423416Yep, you know if that is one small piece of an answer to Sean’s question about why we can never do it . . We almost never put everythign we have into the league, we’ve been a cup team for decades now bar the odd season here and there.
It wasn’t anyone on here’s decision to play too many first team players in cup matches, it was Klopp’s and also kinda FSG’s for their policy this season. It’s not conducive success, this season.
January 26, 2017 at 6:25 pm #1423434It’s simple in my eyes… Klopp has had 3 transfer windows, which includes 1 summer window. Klopp has been in the job 1 year and some months, its kinda clear that klopp still oesn’t have the players to properly carry out his preferred playing system. I know we did a mini impression of peak Dortmund but that’s all it really was, a mini impression. We lack balance in the team and klopp will need more than one summer transfer window to reach his idealised setup. No need to compare us to fluky Leicester who are now struggling to stay in the league or Chelsea who always had the players but lacked a decent manager. We are where we are, and given patience, money and luck will be able to sustain better performances over the season.
