Well wherever you look, most of our activity in the transfer market has been fucking shite hasn’t it? Not sure I’d ever have bought this fella but we did (for about 17 mill I think) and what happens, Moyes freezes him out and Van Gaal does the same, then sells him for about 4 mill. Now he’s not a world beater but he was at least as good as half the shite we had at the time. Now he’s being talked about in the 20 mill plus bracket and linked with Spurs. Then there’s Michael Keane. Now I’m not a fan but surely we could have got more for him. And Josh King? Again not a world beater but we probably got two bob for him and what’s he worth now? Certainly more than that. And just think if we’d sold that donkey Januzaj when people thought he was good. Trouble is, one of those fools was Moyes. Yep, we’ve bought shite for top dollar and sold decent assets for fuck all. No wonder we’re in debt.
April 11, 2017 at 4:39 pm #1463027@jm1502 I agree we sold Zaha cheap but that’s what happens when we give high wages to average players. Clubs like Palace can’t afford the wages, so we have to reduce the fee to make the total package (ie fee + wages) viable.
Zaha must be judged on his performance and behaviour when he was at OT. And based on that LvG was right to get rid of him. He was deadwood.
And do you a 20m attacking midfielder in his prime is the standard of quality United should be aiming for or satisfied with?
April 11, 2017 at 5:20 pm #1463033Zaha pissed his pants on his first day of training…not got the bottle for a big club, terrible but typical last signing by Fergie.
April 11, 2017 at 5:22 pm #1463034You’ve missed my point MacGuffin. I stated clearly that I’d never have bought him and that I didn’t think Keane or Josh King are world beaters either. But we sold them all on the cheap and they’re all now worth a lot more.
April 11, 2017 at 5:32 pm #1463035That’s the problem with young players though jm1502, couldn’t really have asked for any more for Keane or King as they never really looked like making it. But they’ve thrived on the responsibility once they’ve fled the nest and fair play to them. Question is, with the regs on young homegrown talent putting a premium on English players….could we persuade the likes of Burnley to pay 15-20m for a young lad who has played twice in the Coca Cola cup?
April 11, 2017 at 7:11 pm #1463041Apparently we have a 20% sell on clause with Keane.
April 12, 2017 at 3:24 am #1463118jm1502 I addressed your point about selling players cheap when I spoke of the high wages resulting in our having to sell cheap in order to get buyers. If your point was generic I’m not sure why you focused on Zaha.
April 12, 2017 at 9:20 am #1463192Should have kept him, still need squad players. Rather see him in the shirt than Lingard and Young.
April 15, 2017 at 9:19 am #1464287Young can dribble and beat his man.
I just can’t stand this boy Lingard. The typical over-hyped English player.
Unfortunately, circumstances were such that Zaha was sold.
We missed out on a quality Home Grown player.
Delle Alli should be signed as soon as possible from Spurs.
We can throw 90+ Million in Levy’s face. We are the richest club in the world for decades to come.April 15, 2017 at 10:07 am #1464307He was shite when he was with us and his still shit at crystal palace. The same goes to when he was with England he was shit and now with ivory Coast. Doesn’t matter where he goes the shit keeps following him.
April 15, 2017 at 2:41 pm #1464410Young cant really beat a man regularly, that guy is soooooo shit.
If he’s shite some of the ones left behind are diarrhoea.
April 15, 2017 at 3:08 pm #1464419All players that we signed are shite..Mbappe,if he signed for United, will be just another decent player..The same goes to Dele Alli,Griezman..Any player who comes to United will just be a fringe players
April 15, 2017 at 10:41 pm #1464573JM – Zaha has played about 6 decent games in his whole career, come on mate! He’s shite. When Spurs signed sissoko for £30m he was twice the player Zaha is now. As for King and Keane, bloody hell mate – who cares? We’ve covered this debate so many times, when a player is deemed not good enough at United they normally lose all their resale value. Or, as Mac says, their wages are so high the buying club can’t afford a high transfer fee as well.
We need to continue to get rid of players like Keane, King and Zaha because they’re not too enough to play for United. Simple as that.April 16, 2017 at 2:08 pm #1464725Fuck me, another one who doesn’t read my posts properly. I said I’d never have bought him in the first place but that we sold him on the cheap and he’s now probably worth considerably more. It was an example of our complete fucking ineptitude in the buying and selling department happy. It was your mate Fergie who bought him by the way.
April 16, 2017 at 2:18 pm #1464736All I’m gonna say is this – in Lanzarote they put waaaaaay too much gin in their cocktails!! ???
By the way – was Fergie not your mate?
April 16, 2017 at 2:30 pm #1464753No, great manager with a great record but a rather unpleasant man I feel. And never trust a ‘socialist’ who accepts a knighthood mate.
