I notice Juve are rumoured to be interested in Emre Can. So should we sell him?
For a decent price YES as I don’t think he’s improving. A lumbering style who has been to predictable and isn’t the best player in decision making, creativity or speed of thought. I’d take £20M for him.
He was poor again tonight.January 12, 2017 at 12:53 am #1415383I hate to say it but I think so too Rob. I don’t know if he has what it takes to play in our system.
January 12, 2017 at 2:24 am #1415390As I’ve mentioned before (several times…sorry) but I have absolutely zero clue what kind of midfielder he is or what formation he would suit but he doesn’t suit Klopp’s. I don’t see him as an 6, 8 or 10 so that pretty much blows away any damn formation. Not agile or dynamic enough at all. Like watching a big uncle on the dancefloor at a wedding right after the buffet.
January 12, 2017 at 3:38 am #1415391I am shocked no one has mentioned anything about poor Henderson yet? We miss him badly. And it isn’t too long ago a lot of fans wanted Can to be our captain. To be fair to Can, he’s only 22 and Klopp maybe able to mould him into another Henderson in future.
January 12, 2017 at 5:05 am #1415393I don’t think he will Gabara, I agree with the others & would sell if possible, he just doesn’t fit with how Klopp wants to play.
January 12, 2017 at 5:47 am #1415395I say sell, other than playing the chipped ball over the defensive line, I’ve seen little invention from him. Couldn’t play the DM in a midfield three, keeps the ball too long in a more attacking position and in general. A pity, as I had hopes he would develop into something as smooth as his hair do.
January 12, 2017 at 7:24 am #1415407We need to find out what is his best position and play him there. Like others I don’t know what that is but he certainly isn’t good enough at the moment to be played in different positions.
He won’t sell him yet but if he doesn’t improve quick, who knows.
January 12, 2017 at 9:22 am #1415470The lad is only 22, he has plenty of room for improvement.
Hendo, Wij and Lallana are all older more established players so it’s not unusual they’ll keep him out.
Stick with the lad.January 12, 2017 at 10:40 am #1415519Can is only 22 I would not sell him for double that.
January 12, 2017 at 12:11 pm #1415590Bingo you wouldn’t sell him for £40million?!?! Amazing.
I think like others he is yet to find his true position in the team, and his form this season has been poor. He seems to slow down our play.
However, it is good to have another option, and Can is certainly a different player in the middle of the pitch to those like lallana and hendo and I think he is worth keeping hold of for that reason alone (unless we receive a silly bid). He is still very young and has a lot of time to improve. The only thing is, I think his contract is running down…so do you offer him improved terms on a new long term deal or see what clubs are willing to pay for him..? I’d think a £25mil+ bid is likely to be of interest. £20mil is probably about his market value.
January 12, 2017 at 1:05 pm #1415624Yes I would not sell him for 20 million and if we got an offer for 40 million it would mean he would be in good form and I would not sell. He is one excellent prospect for the future, just needs to work a bit on his game and as a German international, his value will rocket up in the next few years. In about 5 years time he will be valued for about 80-100 million.
January 12, 2017 at 1:21 pm #1415635I hope someones keeping note of that claim! ^^^
January 21, 2017 at 6:30 pm #1420682Juve link in the rumours section again. After today’s performance I don’t see suiting a Klopp side but he still gets picked – why ?
January 22, 2017 at 3:11 pm #1421111He’s been very poor this season, reminds me if his play when we first bought him. Thing is, we don’t have the squad to bin him off and replace from within.
January 22, 2017 at 5:00 pm #1421157Hopefully he can turn it around. He is very young still, like origi, which can easily be forgotten when looking at them. Can looks about 32! He has been moved around a lot (centre back, right back, defensive midfield, advanced midfielder, etc) which can’t help him to keep form or as rob Texas says, make his position identifiable to a fan!!
Maybe still struggling after a lot of footy last year, summer tournament (and disappointment from that and liverpools end of season final flops), and then didn’t he have an injury through pre season? He should be up to speed by now, but yeh performances are lacking.
I hope he improves…I think he has a bit more to him
Than he is currently showing. I don’t think he looks likely to be a £100mil player In 5 years time as bingo is suggesting – even allowing for inflation and the crazy Chinese market etc! If I’m wrong…then that’ll only be a good thing!January 22, 2017 at 7:33 pm #142122780-100 million……….good fucking god you’ve lost your mind, the boy is fucking garbage, sell him and Henderson, useless players.
January 22, 2017 at 10:34 pm #1421279not just inflation but also a new TV-contract would bump up his value.
January 22, 2017 at 11:53 pm #1421294I want what Bingo is taking. Is this a wined up. Can hasn’t been garbage he is just playing at his level. He did actually play well against Man Utd only because his ability to protect the defense was his job. but like the others have said. I am failing to see what he offers the team. The reason why we fail to see what he brings is because he is to limited and one-dimensional to help the team in an attacking sense, and does not have many attributes that can benefit the team. Ok, when you have a history of playing management sims on the computer and watching these players week in and week out it is quite easy to see what a player offers. For me he only offers the following: A good temperment, stamina, fitness and strength and positioning. He lacks the following, creativity, vision, dribbling, passing, creativity, heading, pace, shot accuracy and runs. Not sure whose idea it was to buy him in the first place. There is defintely something wrong when it comes to buyibg the right players at the club. He is not a DM for a club this size. I think he is a squad player at at best. I wouldnt sell him though. Ynwa.
January 23, 2017 at 3:31 am #1421303On the whole Can has been very average for us. He pops up with a good game here & there but it’s few & far between. If we could get 20 mill for him that would be great & I’d jump at that. Put it this way, he is not going to take us to the next level & I doubt he’d get a look in with any of our top 4 rivals.
January 23, 2017 at 8:18 am #1421361Sorry mate, just tobacco in my rolls right now, thinking about starting up my farm again. Player prices are determined by a few things, everyone here called me nuts when I stated that it was just a question of time when transfers started costing about 100 million. Look what happened next… Another TV-contract would bump player prices up by 50-100%. Selling Can for 20 million would be really cheap, I would rather move him back into the defense where he excelled when he first started playing for us. He can´t be worse than Klavan and Lovren right..?
