Paper Talk: Man Utd, Liverpool target to pen new Leicester deal

A top Manchester United and Liverpool target looks set for a new deal at Leicester, while Tottenham face a fight to land a £10m right-back, according to Tuesday’s newspapers.

LEICESTER PLAYMAKER POISED TO PEN NEW DEAL

James Maddison is likely to sign a new deal at Leicester City, amid interest from Manchester United and Liverpool.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has long been an admirer of the 22-year-old England international, as the United boss plans a rebuild of a depleted squad over the next 12 months.

And Maddison has been identified as a player that fits the ball for the Norwegian.

However, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that Foxes chiefs are ready to tie the midfielder down to a new deal in order to keep their top asset.

Man City, Spurs and Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have also been linked with Maddison, but many reports suggest that if the player was to move on then Old Trafford would be his most likely destination.

Solskjaer is after more homegrown talent, after landing Harry Maguire, Dan James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka over the summer, and maddison fits the bill.

But it would appear that Brendan Rodgers and Leicester will do all they can to convince the former Norwich man that his future should be at the King Power.
